Been here a few times and every time the entire experience is spot on from great service to consistently delicious food! Love the jäger schnitzel!

For all the rich deliciousness that you will feasting on at Naschmarkt, this place is well worth the indigestion that you may experience. Be sure to make reservations in advance, we had to make ours about three weeks ahead. The restaurant is quite small, so if you do a walk-in, you may have to wait a bit to get a table. To start the meal, my husband had the Bratwurst and I had the daily special, Steak Tartare. Both were excellent, tartare was bright and great start to the meal. The sauerkraut that came with the brats was made in-house and excellent. For entrees, I had the Jäger Schnitzel and my husband had the Wiener Schnitzel, words really can’t describe just how delicious they both were. We were very sad that we finished our meal, because we just didn’t want it to end. The mushroom sauce that came with the Jäger Schnitzel was amazing on its own. Much to my dismay, my husband started dipping his Weiner Schnitzel into it, because that meant less yummy sauce for myself. The wait staff is wonderful and on top their game. I can’t say enough good things about this place, it’s a great dining experience!

Fantastic place! Loved the place, the food, and the service. Their pork belly is just awesome. It’s a good place to have a glass of wine and some great food. You may probably want to reserve the place to make sure to get a spot though. Finding the parking spot in downtown for this place is ftw!

My daughter invited me here for dinner. I had no idea it was there. I enjoyed the pork belly very much. It is very cramped and you will be basically sharing your space with everyone around you, just imagine you are in Europe.

This was our first visit here tonight for dinner with my husband, I was not disappointed ! Waiters and bus ppl were great! Resturant was very nice inside with some outdoors eating available. We ordered for appetizer and shared it — spätzle with smoked chicken, peas corn in cream sauce — delicious ! Double cooked Pork Belly, crisp and juicy inside. So very tasty !, I had Classic Weiner schnitzel work German Potato Salad. It was so good . The portions are a very good size. I had to bring some home! The manager was very nice and I’d deffinitely come back here for dinner again! Kudos to the Chef!

Wow! Best Austrian/German food in the Bay area! Authentic and tasty. Reasonably priced too. Parking in Campbell is a little tough on weekend nights but it is worth finding a spot just to go here. Make sure you get reservations as it is a small facilitiy and always packed with people. Food is really good! Price is okay. Minus one star for… Parking stinks and the place is always packed!

Living in Willow Glen, San José, I have been spoiled by the proximity of delicious restaurants(e.g. Dry Creek Grill, The Table, Blue Water Seafood & Crab, Tomato Tyme, etc). I am the type of gal that does not mind paying a little bit extra for a satisfying and high quality meal. Well, I decided to drive downtown Campbell for a stroll and stumbled upon this restaurant. I am glad this place did not disappoint! I have been back here thrice and admit I am a fan. I definitely recommend their double cooked pork belly entrée and their jägger schnitzel entrée. As for appetizer, I think their cold cut appetizer dish is the best. Lastly, for those who know me knows that I rarely drink! Well, I got talked into ordering a Czech Republic’s light beer here. It definitely complemented my meal perfectly! I love the décor of the restaurant. Although the venue is fairly small, there are seating outside as well as inside and at the bar. This is definitely a place that would impress your date. But most importantly, it is very mellow and classy. Tip to first-timers: this place can get pretty packed over the weekends! So make sure you make a reservation or else you’ll be upset that you have to pass in having an amazing dinner here.

4÷1÷16: … What a special night! Not only was it our monthly anniversary,… we have found the South Bay’s King. I moved up here about 2yrs ago, and as of now I’ve reviewed over 100’s of local restaurants since, from hole-in-the-walls to fancy schmancy places, of all kinds of ethnicities… And as of last night I’ve found, in my opinion, The Best Restaurant of South Bay thus so far. The drinks were spectacular. The service knowledgeable and gracious. The food creatively modern yet true to its ethnic roots. And damn nice dessert. Frickin’ amazing. This was our night… 1. Tonight’s Special: Sangria $ 12: I think this was the best sangria I’ve ever had. Muddled fruit mixed in, very nicely complimenting the wine. Totally delicious and beautiful too. 10⁄10 2. The Lost Apple $ 14 «Purity Vodka, Yellow Chartreuse, house made apple juice, fresh squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup and prickly pear bitters, shaken & double strained, serve up in a speakeasy glass topped with apple foam»: Long ass description huh? And wow, as soon as it touched my tongue I knew instantly I was in for an adventure. So many layers of flavor… and that cloud on top’s simply divine. Amazing cocktail. 10⁄10 3. Jerusalem Artichoke & Leek Soup with smoked trout $ 9: Smooth and very flavorful. Never had artichoke soup before, and I’m very glad I got to try it here. Loved the saltiness of the smoked trout too. 8⁄10 4. Quark Spaetzle $ 15 «with Smoked Chicken, yellow corn, Brussels sprouts leaves, tarragon and mushrooms»: I haven’t had too much spaetzle in my life, and obviously I ain’t too knowledgeable about what spaetzle should taste like, so whether this one was truly authentic I dunno. But, I can tell you, it tasted amazingly good. Like the best alfredo pasta with that special flavor of smoked chicken, and all the textures from everything else. Awesome. 9⁄10 5. Schneider 12oz Draft $ 9: I asked the waiter for the richest German beer they got, and this was what he recommended. And damn, it was just as I asked – kick your ass richness and complexity. Awesome beer. 10⁄10 6. Double Cooked Pork Belly $ 31 «with white bean purée, roasted red onions, wilted frisee, marinated Hungarian peppers, toasted breadcrumbs, and red wine reduction»: This reminds me of German fried pork knuckle I’ve had at various places, but far far far better. The skin was so perfectly fried, yet somehow they managed to keep everything underneath from turning hard. So succulent. Man. The bean purée balanced out the richness. Great stuff. 8⁄10 7. Classic Wiener Schnitzel $ 32 «with ligonberry sauce, Austrian potato salad, lemon and crispy parsley»: Alas, one of the few disappointments of the night. The meat was a bit tough, and pretty dry. The coating wasn’t crispy. I did like the tart ligonberry sauce though. The Austrian potato salad was very good with many distinct flavors, especially of some great pickles. But alas, that schnitzel does indeed suck. Please skip. 3⁄10 8. Braised Sauerkraut $ 6: I’m not a lover of sauerkraut, but I figure if I’d like any, it would be here. And sure enough, I think theirs is the best I’ve had yet. More subtly, less sharp than your standard stuff. Soft but not mushy. Very good. 8⁄10 9. Austrian Spark Plug $ 14 «espresso, Sabieski vodka, Kahlua, Godiva white chocolate liqueur and vanilla extract, garnished with Austrian chocolate and whipped cream»: After those 2 best-ever cocktails I started this meal with, I was so eager to try another. This one sounded so good. But alas, it was more watery than anything else. Just tasted thin and crappy. Was so floored by how bad it was, given how amazing the others were. It was also the most expensive dessert cocktail on their list. Sigh. Do not even think about getting this. 1⁄10 10. Salzburger Nockerl $ 10 «fluffy vanilla soufflé with blueberry compote and Greek yogurt ice cream»: And we come to dessert – will it finish this performance with a perfect 10 landing? – or will they slip and fall? Well… it was Perfect. The«soufflé» was like nothing I’ve ever had. Ultra light and delicate. Just melts in your mouth. I quoted«soufflé» because though that’s the name on the menu, I think they cheated here quite a bit as it’s more of a baked meringue than soufflé, thus making this amazing texture. Anyway, whatever they wanna call it, it’s crazy good. And that blueberry compote was so yummy with the soufflé. The ice cream didn’t taste that special to me though, despite the use of yogurt. Well, overall, completely delicious. You must get this. Hats off to the pastry chef! 10⁄10 It took me 2 years of living here to find this place. But now that I have, it gives me hope that there are more sparkling stars around home. Thank you so much Naschmarkt for making our night! A big 5⁄5. #german #austrian #germanfusion

The only Austrian Restaurant in Bay Area(that I found at least) Named after the«Naschmarkt» in Vienna. They have classic Austrian dishes(like Schnitzel with potato salad, Spätzle or Salzburger Nockerl) and several other things that are just as good as well. Definitely worth a try:)

Naschmarkt is a cool modern restaurant specializing in Austrian/German cuisine located in quaint downtown Campbell. The best seats in the house are definitely at the bar where you can watch the open kitchen in action. The drinking menu had a lot of inventive cocktails. Our favorite was the Austrian Maultier which is like an Austrian moscow mule served in the requisite copper mug. For appetizers: we had the Austrian cold cuts that’s served with a bread basket with a freshly baked pretzel(which was the best part). Definitely DONO mistake the white shredded stuff for shredded cheese! It is actually fresh horseradish. Talk about clearing the nasal passages! My favorite surprisingly was the smoked trout. The butter lettuce salad was a little underwhelming. For entrees: We had the fresh spaghetti pasta served with speck and a soft boiled egg on top similar to a carbonara. It was delicious! but wished it could have been a little more al dente. Maybe it was the type of pasta, but it all kinda stuck together. And of course, the classic wiener schnitzel served with lingonberry sauce and Austrian potato salad. The potato salad was the BEST part — made with fresh dill and cucumbers. For dessert: A vanilla soufflé called the Salzburg Nockerl served with greek yoghurt ice cream(which was the best part). Would love to come back and try more Austrian classics like the bratwurst with sauerkraut and cabbage rolls and beef goulash with spatzle.

This was not what I was expecting when my friend asked if I wanted to go get pretzels and hot dogs! We got a sausage sampler, the pretzel was my favorite part. Alaskan Salmon may not be German but it was delicious! The scallops were perfectly cooked, soft and not rubbery. The skin was extra crispy and I ate everything. woot! My friend really enjoyed the pork belly. I want to come back and try other dishes. I was scared to upset my stomach that day since I wasn’t feeling well. I want to try all the fried and creamy items. Service was awesome.

Came here for my birthday and was really excited since this place has amazing reviews(like other Unilocalers have commented, there is no extra dessert for birthdays). We wanted to try something different and a German/Austrian cuisine seemed like a great idea. The service here was impeccable; interior design beautiful. We ordered the scallops, Kraut Rouladen, and pork belly(all Unilocal-recommended choices). The scallops were delicious, but there were not many for a 18 $ appetizer. The two entrees had a unique taste– very meaty and heavy. It did not seem like the dishes we ordered complemented each other. We have never had German food before so that is probably why we were not used to the taste. They also seem to recommend their cold cut plates, especially salami– we should have tried that, maybe next time.

I came here last night on a date and wow was I impressed. I was a little hesitant to try a German/Austrian place but Unilocal rarely leads me astray so I thought I would give it a shot. Step outside of my comfort zone if you will. We were seated immediately by a very nice man who happened to be the co-owner of the restaurant. Our waiter was equally accommodating, slowly taking us through the unfamiliar menu. Since it was our first time at the restaurant he recommended we share a few different things. We got the mussels to start and wow were they good. It was nice touch that they split everything we ordered into two plates so we could share. For an entrée we got the hungarian beef goulash. Um what? Hello goulash you are my new best friend. It was DELICIOUS. I could have dipped a loaf of bread in that amazing sauce. It was served with a side of herbed spatzle, which tasted like austrian/german mac and cheese. It was probably dangerous to introduce me to that stuff because it’s addicting. I ate most of it and am not going to apologize. I cant wait to come back here again and try more of their amazing creations. So delicious

One of my top favorite restaurants! This is a neighborhood gem. Always greeted well when we arrive and depart by Humberto. Although you may not be in the mood for Austrian food, you will be delightfully surprised by the cuisine and wines offered here. Servers are helpful, but some may need some prodding to guide you through the wine list and menu(such as in my recent visit). Luckily the barista heard my despair to understand the difference between a Gruner Veltliner and a Zierfandler, and provided a sampling of both. I’m always eager to pair a wine to compliment the cuisine and the offerings. Why treat yourself to a restaurant if you can’t expand your taste buds? We have plenty of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir locally to taste and nearby restaurants. Don’t be that kind of wine snob. We shared the Quark Spatzle and each both enjoyed a different entrée from our last visit. I cannot express how perfect the Pan Salmon was prepared. I would not change one thing about it. It is Michelin star quality and can be compared to courses served by local chef, David Kinch. Given the restaurant has been open 4+ years, I’d recommend keeping your standard staples but perhaps change up a few offerings in the appetizer, salad and/or dessert menu. I gather whatever Chef Matthias creates, the food will be fabulous and reflect the Austrian cuisine.

Downtown Campbell definitely is insane when it comes to parking on at Sat night when everyone’s celebrating Christmas with their loved ones. We came the Sat before Christmas, and reservation was insane. We missed our original reservation because of a last minute movie that we watched on our precious date night, and it ran a little too long. They told us we’d lose our table but would save us space at the bar. I’ve been wanting to try out this Austrian restaurant so although I was disappointed with this compromised aspect, I was willing to go in and still enjoy the experience. I’m really glad we still went even though we just sat at the bar. The atmosphere was elegant but comfortable. The server at the bar was extremely helpful, friendly, and attentive. He made excellent recommendations on drinks that were spot on. I ordered the goulash, and it was so delicious! We ordered an appetizer that consisted of warm bread and pates and other delicious items that must be paired with bread. They bake some of the bread in-house, and the quality of the bread was wonderful. I asked what kind of flour they used, and I was relieved to find out that it’s European(better quality than American). I was impressed with their ingredients. I loved trying different wines with my meals. The open kitchen was nice to observe while eating. Our dinner was impressively delicious, and I hope to return again for another date night. The only thing to worry about is the reservation time. They’re quite strict, and you can’t be late.

Very nice service. Always refilled our water and let us take plenty of time to order. The Austrian cold cuts were perfect to share. The trout and horseradish, salami, and the liver mousse were the favorites. The service was also really attentive about refilling our bread basket. The bread, toast, and pretzel went well with the cold cut plate. The soup and salad were yummy. The soup was creamy and packed with garlic flavor. The salad was light and the goat cheese purse was crispy and added a lot of flavor. I liked the balsamic and pomegranate seeds but the walnuts did not blend well with the rest of the salad. The schnitzels were a hit. The Jäger schnitzel was savory and creamy with the sauce while the classic schnitzel was crunchy and sweet with the lingonberries. We ended the meal with the Salzburger Nockerl. It was a fluffy soufflé over a blueberry compote and it was heavenly. The vanilla soufflé was golden brown on the top with a delicious cloud underneath. It was served with Greek yogurt ice cream and more blueberry compote. Overall, it was a great first experience with Austrian food. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. If I come back I would definitely order the cold cuts again and come back for the schnitzel.

Disclaimer: I never had Austrian food before. We decided to come here for my husband’s birthday dinner along with his parents to try it out on a Sunday night. Between the four of us, we ordered the bratwurst and quark spatzle for appetizers. The bratwurst was super juicy and delicious, and goes along great with the carmelized oninions, saukeraut, and mustard. This was the only German dish I’ve had before, and Naschmarkt does it even better than what I had before! The quark spatzle might be my favorite. It’s a creamy pasta tossed with mushrooms and smoked chicken. I only wish there was more! For entrees, we got the pork belly, kraut rouladen, and the classic wiener schnitzel. The pork belly is hands down my favorite– very tender and well flavored. The kraut rouladen is basically two giant meatballs. It falls apart very easily when cut, extremely flavorful, but just a bit too salty for my taste. The wiener schnitzel was probably my least favorite. I’ve never had it before, and wasn’t sure what to expect. For those like me who don’t know, it’s thinly sliced ground veal that’s lightly breaded. It’s served with lingonberry sauce and a side of potato salad. Judging by the reviewers who rave about this dish and it’s authenticity, I’m going to go ahead and say that I’m just not a fan of that particular dish. It was okay, but I probably wouldn’t order again. If you let them know you’re there celebrating a birthday, they bring out a complimentary sorbet sampler — 3 small scoops on a plate. The flavors we got were Myer lemon, blood orange, and a berry carbernet. We also ordered the apple strudel and vanilla soufflé. Both were amazing! I definitely liked the vanilla soufflé more. It was very soft and creamy, and tastes even better on a cold night :) It goes well with the ice cream and blueberry sauce that comes with it. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny– I would definitely recommend making reservations, especially on a weekend. I had reservations for 7:45pm on a Sunday night. They were running behind, and we still had to wait another 30 minutes. The tables didn’t start clearing up until close to 9pm. Parking in downtown Campbell was tricky as well, so if you have a reservation, I would also recommend getting there 10+ min earlier to find parking!

Delicious meal, but nothing magnificent deeming it an overall 4.5 stars on Unilocal.Seemed like there were a lot of regulars. Tuesday night walk in at around 5:30pm, about 4 tables occupied. No reservations, so our options were patio or bar seating. With this heat wave, patio sounded more than dandy! First off, warm bread! Crunchy crust with soft warm center, perfecto with butter spread. Tried the corn soup as the appetizer which was good, but my fellow diner did state, «This is like the one at Curry House.» It was a thin consistency, sweet, and sprinkled with pepper for a subtle kick. Jäger Schnitzel came with a side of Quark Spätzle, Austrian version of mac and cheese? Pretty bland and underwhelming, on the lighter side of pasta+cheese. Mushrooms in the cream sauce were on par. I’d say my favorite part of the dish was … the mushroom. Dipped the bread in this cream sauce & it tasted great. Double Cooked Pork Belly was tasty, perfect crispiness where it needed to be and tender otherwise. I liked the pickled pepper atop the dish. I wanted the Whiskey Smash, but they only had the Strawberry Smash this time. On the sweet side, masking the alcohol, but know that the alcohol content is really there. Service was great, very attentive, considering they weren’t busy quite yet. Clean bathroom. Portion sizes to typical appetite. Classy atmosphere, but can dress casually. Would come back, but won’t crave.

I loved Naschmarkt! Reserved my Friday night reservation on Opentable ahead of time, which is a MUST. The tiny place fills up quickly so a reservation is essential unless you have time and patience to wait at least an hour. Service is incredible. Our waiter, a nice, older gentleman, seemed to be very passionate about everything on the menu, letting us know that anything we feel like, we should order– meaning, everything on the menu is delicious, although odd, and will not disappoint. He was prompt, came by to check on us often but not TOO much. After what seemed like hours of indecision, I finally went with the Kraut Rouladen; which, I have no idea really what it was but it was SOFREAKIN’ GOOD. We got: — (Appetizer) Smoked Pork Bratwurst with braised sauerkraut, caramelized onions and Dijon mustard $ 11(DELICIOUS, would get again!) — Classic Wiener Schnitzel with lingonberry sauce, Austrian potato salad, lemon and crispy parsley $ 31(just ok, my boyfriends’ dish and he wasn’t overly impressed) — Kraut Rouladen; beef, pork and smoked bacon filled Savoy cabbage with horseradish cream cabbage, roasted butternut squash, kale, pomegranate and chicken jus $ 23(my dish and I would get everyday all day, DELICIOUS) Drinks were unique and pretty good but not my absolute favorite place for cocktails. To sum it up, expect to pay for what you get but you definitely get quality ingredients and awesome flavors. Totally recommend Naschmarkt and I will be dining here again.

Naschmarkt ist wirklich wunderbar! Naschmarkt is, quite simply, the best Austrian/German restaurant I’ve ever been to in the States(and I’ve been to many). Not only that– it is one of the best restaurants of any kind in the San Jose area, period. I’m not a fan of giving out 5-star reviews generally, but in the case of Naschmarkt, it really is «as good as it gets». The Chef, Matthias, definitely knows what he’s doing. When people think«German Food», they often think(rightly so, in most cases) of heavily-sauced, food coma-inducing dishes. At Naschmarkt, that is not the case at all. Must-have dishes: The Quark Spaetzle and Austrian cold cuts appetizers; the traditional Schnitzel(the no-mayo potato salad it comes with is superb) and the pork belly entrees. Naschmarkt has an excellent selection of wines, but you can bring your own in for a nominal corkage(which may not even be applied). As well, they have a small, but very good beer selection, including the authentic(but hard-to-find) Austrian lager Stiegl. Pro-tip: If you can, have your meal at the counter– you will be served by Humberto, who will take care of you and ensure your meal is perfect. Go to this place. You will not be disappointed.
