John did an outstanding job repairing an antique secretary that was shipped to me and arrived with one leg snapped off. Not only did he fabricate and expertly attach a replacement leg but he re-finished the entire piece wonderfully. My wife and I are extremely happy with how the project turned out.

I’ve taken several pieces here over the years, antiques. John did a great job and at a very reasonable price.

I have brought many pieces of furniture to John, and he always knows exactly what to do. I have brought chairs that«basket cases», pieces I thought were beyond repair as well items that were botched by other repair people. John is a great craftsman and his prices are very reasonable.

Over many years, we have hired John Gibbs and The Workshop to fix or restore several pieces of vintage and antique furniture, including a 1930s oak dining room set, a 19th century backless«fainting couch» or «Turkish couch», and a 19th century oak spindle-back rocking chair. His craftsmanship, taste, and knowledge of how to care for antiques are excellent and we have been very happy with the results. It takes time for projects to be completed but it is worth the wait.
