Small mom and pop establishment. Very reasonable prices. You have to try the Delicious pulled pork and pulled chicken !!!

Stopped for breakfast and got bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. They were absolutely the best BECs ever! Coffee was only luke warm and the soda was warm too, but the sandwiches make up for everything else!

Mep’s has BBQ skills. That’s without a doubt. And it was clearly evident from the two whole briskets sitting on the counter, resplendent in their thick coating of smoky bark. Where it was less evident was in the food that gets served. BBQ here comes primarily in the form of sandwiches. Brisket is sliced super thin, portioned out into plastic bags, and refrigerated. The meat is then reheated on a flat top griddle with a ladle of vinegary sauce, and served on a grilled roll. Treating slowly cooked meat, that has become tender from hours of smoke breaking down its collagen and fat makes me sad. Lost is all the glory of the effort. There is some smoke hiding deep beneath the sauce, which almost entirely eclipses the flavor of the barbecue. For people who like sauce-centric cue, this could be a good place. Maybe the ribs would be better if you could catch them on a day they were coming out of the smoker. Or maybe Mep’s would consider selling the burnt ends from those glorious briskets. However, those weren’t on the menu. I love the feel of this place, and I think it could be fantastic. But what I had decidedly wasn’t.

Great little BBQ shack in the country on NY22. Pulled. pork sandwich big enough for two. Large portion of tasty fries. Seating inside by counter facing window and outdoors on picnic tables. Also serve ribs, chicken, pizza, steak sandwiches.

Tasty BBQ and fixings — recommend and we’ll be back. Had brisket, pulled pork, chicken and coleslaw, baked beans and corn bread. Yummy!

Why 5-stars? Because the meat is smoked perfectly. Not for the décor or atmosphere, for the food. The pulled pork is outrageous. Everything smoked over hickory wood, consistently done all year round. The homemade bbq sauce is stellar. Buns are heated on a griddle with butter offering a crispy and soft texture. I’ll be stopping here every time I’m in the area. Highly recommend. Also if you need spices the general store next door has ample varieties.

Best barbecue ever. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing. The homemade hot sauce is an added bonus. Really good sweet potato fries and Brisket. The owner is also really sweet, and the atmosphere is charming. They make their own barbecue in a smoker and back. Best barbecue I’ve had outside of the south.

Amazing gem we stumbled upon on our way to VT! Their home made hot sauce was incredible. Excellent smoked BBQ!

Nice place with a mom and pop feel. Huge smoker in the backyard being fed wood logs to maintain rotating racks of goodness at the right temperature. Best place for BBQ without hurting the wallet. Picnic tables all round for the sit down folk to enjoy a meal. No frills, just great Bbq!

Stopped again after a few years — have added to the menu with a little bit of everything. BBQ, burgers, pizza, ice cream, special of the day — deep fried clam bellies. Had a brisket sandwich. It was good — but it didn’t seem like it was brisket — more like top round(aka roast beef.) Cole Slaw very goods, didn’t think about beans until too late. To sum it up — a lot of credit to the owners — not exactly at the cross roads of the would, and not exactly world class BBQ, but better than lots others.

Cute place and a fun place to stop. Can’t speak for the BBQ, but the food we got unfortunately didn’t meet expectations. Chicken pot pie had decent flavor but was watery and the crust over-charred. Small BBQ pork pizza had nearly no cheese.

What a find !! Literally almost in the middle of nowhere… go with the ribs, and the beans are to die for !! A regular stop for us when coming back from VT. You will not be dissapointed… This place should be featured on Diner’s, Drive-Inns and Dive’s !!

BBQ chicken was taken out of the fridge and microwaved. I won’t be going back.

I had the same experience as John P., who reviewed above. I ordered ribs and they were taken from the freezer and microwaved. Totally dry and tasteless. Sorry, hate to knock small businesses that are struggle in this economy.

If you going from Albany to Boston on I-90 you pass an exit for route 22 in NY. 3 mile north is Mep’s. A small stop with some good food at great prices. I had a pulled pork sandwich which was really good. Not out of this world or extra special but good BBQ at a great price. They also carry burgers, pizza, ice cream and 6 different kinds of DEEPFRIED OREOs! I had a Mint one and, my friend warned me, now i am craving them! Stop have a sandwich, ice cream and an oreo and spend about $ 10. Maybe you should skip the oreos and leave more for me.

This little barbecue place is great! The owner is so friendly and the food is awesome! Stopped there while vacationing. The GPS brought us there and I’m glad that it did. Plenty of outdoor seating and a little indoors. The french fries were especially great! A+!
