Strolled in around 9 without realizing they were closed. They still took us with a hearty«of course we are open!» Found this gem with my friend a long time back and it had left an amazing impression. Wonderful food! Amazing staff, and impeccably clean. I used to work in a pizza shop and this place hits the nail on the head! If I didn’t live over an hour away I’d come more often. Pizza is exactly what you’d expect for a mom and pop shop, sauce is on point and the wings are excellent. Definetly worth a stop!

Taste like mom’s stuffed mushrooms! Good pizza with good quality cheese. Unfussy, but hit the mark. Friendly, competent service and right off the highway. Overall just what we were looking for.

Good ol’ fashion Italian kitchen. Family run. Enjoyed the meal, tasty and great value. I would come back. We had 6 dinners, 5 different and they were all very good.

An absolute gem! Stumbled upon this restaurant on a cross country trip and so glad we did. Some of the best — if not the best — pizza and lasagne we have ever had. Most of the items on the menu are homemade. Love the quaint atmosphere and the fact that they appreciate your business, which can be rare these days.

Walked in, got seated Drink orders repeated While waiting, good bread No dinner served instead Seemed like old dude Forgot our food Actually got the check first Proud I did not outburst Got an excuse so lame He passed the blame Waited over one and a half hour Did make my mood sour Old man somewhat redeemed With sincere apologies it seemed When finally arrived dinner It was not so much a winner Although genuinely prepared Interest for tastebuds was spared Other patrons same wait So for you, same fate?

Unilocal got me here, but unfortunately, I am not in agreement with previous reviews. At 1:30PM, there was not a person in the restaurant. That should have been my first cue to leave. I had a pizza, reasonable price, lots of cheese and just a few droppings of meat on top. The sauce and crust were blah, no flavor. Service was friendly. Overall, the interior was in need of cleaning, dusty with signs of Christmas decorations still on the wall. I would not recommend this place.

I have eaten here many times. The home cooked food is delicious and the owner works hard to make sure every customer feels welcome. A must try for home cooked italian food in the region.

Everything here is homemade! The wonderful woman who owns it makes sure you like everything. She know’s what she’s doing. The soups are especially fabulous! I come here every time I am visiting the area. Very clean, very affordable, great service.

The food was pretty okay. We had the stuffed pizza and calamari. The pizza was great, but the calamari was either not fresh or a little over cooked. The thing that drove me crazy was that what should have been a simple meal took an hour and a half. I’d love to tell you that it took a long time because she put her heart and soul into it, but the reason definitely was that she had one hand holding a personal phone call to her ear the entire time we were there. Everyone waited for this to be seated, served, etc. she even brought some food to the table while talking on the phone. I won’t go back simply because my time is just as valuable as her phone call when it comes down to «ok» food.

Fantastic bread, amazing pizza and Italian dishes. It can sometimes take a while to get food if they are busy. But the food is so good the wait can be forgiven.

Pulled off the thru-way due to the great reviews on Unilocal, and we weren’t disappointed. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food made it well worth the stop. The homemade Fried Mozzarella was amazing!

Just passing through and stopped for lunch. A little piece of Italy in rural New York. Excellent pizza.

What a great find in upstate NY! Definitely worth a stop. Everything was unbelievably delicious. From the fresh garlic bread to the stuffed mushrooms. You feel like your in Italy in someone’s grandma’s kitchen. The chef cooks and waits on tables. She seems to do it all.

I have family in the area and this is one of their favorite restaurants. I can see why. The food here reminds me of what you would get at a friend’s house, a friend that cooks great Italian food. Most family members get the Chicken Piccata, I usually have the stuffed pasta dishes, like manicotti and ravioli. Everything has always been great, from the bread to the house dressing on the salad. One warning, though. Do not come here expecting to get in and out very fast. We have come on nights when the owner is doing everything, from cooking to waiting the tables.

I really have to hand it to Sace at Mercato. I’ve been working in the Canajoharie area for almost 4 years now and she is consistently, well, consistent in the quality of her dishes. Her bread is delicious(and baked on premises), the house salad dressing is divine, the«house» wine is adequate and affordable, and the her main dishes are great. The only room for improvement is the speed at which food is served. Last week I went in with two colleagues at 5:10 and we did not walk out until 6:40. We all three ordered promptly and ordered nothing out of the ordinary, so the slowness continues to baffle me. I do know Sace is on her own with seating, cooking and serving customers, so I do have sympathy with regard to that, but I can’t see everyone being as patient when they don’t know the backstory about it being a owner-operated business run by a single lady on her own. Mercato is a great place to go if you have at least 1.5 hours for dinner… and if you have a group of 4 or more, call ahead to let Sace know you’re coming. She’ll appreciate it and she just might get a head start warming up the oven.
