Excellent wine tasting experience! It a small venue that is perfect for testing the wine and making a decision regarding what you want to purchase. Keith, the owner, was a delight and listened to our taste preferences and feedback giving each of us a different tasting experience. As we finished up tasting our wines I was unsure of which of two wines I preferred and he offered another taste of each. Prices for wine and others items were very reasonable. I strive to support small businesses whenever possible and was thrilled to support a small business on Small Business Saturday. The owner personally providing excellent service was a plus!

This vineyard was a pleasant surprise. It is not much to look at in comparison to others but everything else about the experience made it memorable. The owner was warm and welcoming. He was so knowledgeable and generous. He challenged what we thought about things like apple wine. This vineyard has more varieties of grapes growing onsite than we had ever heard of. Definitely try the apple wine and bring it home for the holidays. I do not like sweet wines. This is not very sweet and provides a warmth and ‘spice’ that will be welcomed by your guests.

I have made a personal goal to visit as many wineries as I can in the Columbus area. On a gorgeous Saturday we took a trip to southeast Columbus to Slate Run Winery. Owner/winemaker leads the tastings and is the only employee at the facility. He will be more than willing to answer any questions you may have. All wine is made from grapes grown on the property. This is something hard to find in the Columbus area and is great to see and experience. As for tastings you can pick and choose a few wines OR the better option, taste the whole wine list around 15 options, and get a wine glass for only 4 bucks! Awesome value if you ask me. According to the owner wines are made in the French style of wine making and seem to be made to the winemaker’t taste. There are both red and white wines along with one fruit wine(Apple). Wines are moderately prices with one option on closeout for 4.99! We ended up buying a few of those. This is a great, low key winery where you can experience truly Ohio grown and crafted wine.

I decided to try Slate Run with a friend who absolutely loved it the first time she visited. I think we caught them at a bad time, though, because when I asked them to tell me a little about their vineyard the owner basically said, «I just grow grapes,» and wasn’t very forthcoming when describing their wine. For a small, out-of-the way place, I guess I expected it to be a little more homey. My friend said that they’re usually more excited to chat and offer samples, so I’ll definitely be back to give Slate Run a second chance, but otherwise I wouldn’t jump to recommend this particular vineyard to a friend. The wine, however, is a-okay, local made, and moderately priced(bottles run from $ 8-$ 15), so that’s a plus!

I was surprised to learn that there was a vinyard and winery right down the street from me so I had to go visit! My mother and I went and the man who was there was very friendly and offered us samples of the wines they carried. We picked out a red and a white which were both quite good. We then asked him if we could walk around the grounds. He warned us that it was a working farm but by all means we could wander amongst the vines. It was a nice trip and I would like to spend more time there sometime.
