We love going here and I drag all my friends here for their amazing sushi! It’s beautiful and tastes divine! And the prices are very fair for the higher quality product/food they serve.

Absolutely love Sakura. My personal favorite foreign food place in this area. When you go, you have a option of the Hibachi, or regular restaurant-style dining(Hibachi is where they cook the food in front of you as a show). If you do go with Hibachi, which is great for groups, I highly recommend making reservations, especially on weekends or a Friday, as it is a pretty popular spot in town. They seat you at a square bar-like table with a huge griddle in the middle. The waitresses start you off with a drink, then you give them your order(steak is excellent btw) and then the chef comes in, and puts on a cooking show right in front of you, filled with fire and fun. Food is great, and the staff are very nice. Definitely try Sakura out, I guarantee you will come back.

Amazing amazing amazing. Sushi is to die for. They’re super attentive and really great service. Haven’t tried the hibachi grill yet. I hope it just as good.

Was in the area for a little getaway and saw this place and decided to stop. From the looks on the outside of the plaza I wasn’t expecting it to be as nice on the inside. I was very impressed. I had an order of edamame and my favorite wine, Sauvignon Blanc. They have a pretty decent wine list. I ordered the pepper tuna, white tuna sashimi and a yellowtail roll. The fish was delicious and very fresh. I’ve never had pepper tuna and I was extremely happy that I ordered it. Waitresses were very nice and the prices are good for the quality of food you get. I look forward to going back.

This place is awesome. I’ve never had a bad experience. Food and service were both amazing. This is worth the drive from anywhere nearby. There is no hibachi in Rochester that comes anywhere close to how amazing this place is.

Tuesday night dinner experience :( 6:54 — we arrive for our 7pm reservation(8 of us!). It smells awesome in here. 7:21 we are seated at our table with menus, yeehaw! I love hibachi! 7:45 we still haven’t ordered our drinks and are getting a bit hungry, so we finally flag down a waitress to take our drink order. Phew! 8:00 still no one has come to take our dinner orders, it seems as though they are a bit understaffed this evening. Once again, we flag someone down to take our order, maybe they can get our salads out quick! Some of our friends have food allergies and preferences(one with a gluten & egg allergy, the other a vegetarian). Not a problem, their food will be cooked separate from ours so it doesn’t come in contact with those things! My friends assure me they have had it done at hibachi restaurants before. 8:38 we receive our salads, finallyyyyy. 9:15 our chef comes to serve our table. Gosh are we ravenous, I hope he’s a quick one! 9:30 we finally start eating. But wait… what is that? Egg in my friends rice? SHEISALLERGIC! Wow that was a close one. And our vegetarian friends fried rice has chicken in it. Guess that didn’t work out so well. 10:00 we finally depart our 3 hour hibachi escapade in a hurry… we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I’m a huge fan in hibachi and have been to another Sakura location, but between seating us late for our reservation to all of the mishaps in between, including nearly sending one of us to the hospital, I can safely say I will never return to this establishment. The food was delicious, of course, but so many other tables were neglected by the short staffing as well that it doesn’t seem like a safe bet for any enjoyable meal. I’m sure we can find another spot in Canandaigua!

Delish! The fam goes here all the time and we’ve never been disappointed. The servers recognize us we are there so often and are quite courteous. Sushi is amazing — the hibachi we’ve had a handful of times and is good also. If you want great sushi go here!

Three stars because first visit, and Shirley and I just has apps and dessert. Pork dumplings thin skinned and great flavor. Vegetable Tempura was fantastic! nice big, beautifully plated 5 or 6 Vegas. Have only had tempura shrimp b4, and was pleased well by the dish. Had Fried Bananas w/Green Tea Ice cream… very nice. Oh, had Japanese Green tea… very different from Chinese, as it had a very strong flavor I called rice and Shirley called flower. On second thought I just changed rating to 4stars. Wanna go back and brave the Sushi Bar, now that we have«learned» on Wegmzans Sushi Bar in Newark

This was our second time here, the first time we were completely satisfied which prompted our second trip. Well, this time I ordered the Sea Urchin Sushi.. .after being assured that it was fresh(It just came in yesterday). It was horrible, it tasted like the bottom of a swamp, was mushy and just bad. It was not creamy or briny or sweet at all. I questioned the server and she again assured me that is was fresh. The manager then came over and apologized and again assured me it was FRESH. However, she did offer to remove it from my bill. That was a good compromise for me. Since I had barely eaten one out of two pieces. We will go again, but a word of warning DONOTEATTHEUNI!

If you aren’t feeling American or Mexican food, Sakura is probably your only option in Canandaigua. The service here was sort of passable. Server was curt but efficient. We ordered a bunch of rolls. A couple of friends ordered the shrimp yakiudon and sukiyaki steak hibachi(they will prepare the hibachi in the kitchen if you prefer to eat it without a chef wanting to throw rice into your mouth, missing and the rice ending up on your lovely outfit). The food came out fast. The rolls were mostly a disappointment. I would especially recommend avoiding the Naruto Roll. It was spicy tuna(which was flavourless) rolled in cucumber slices, sitting in a pool of lemon juice. Blergh. Lemon juice and spicy tuna are not meant to be. All the rolls involving spicy tuna or spicy salmon were flavourless as well. The shrimp tempura was okay. I also got a roll with peppered tuna and that was much better. The hibachi was average. My friend said it missed that smokiness you get from being seared on an extremely hot hibachi grill. The shrimp yakiudon was a wholly different story. It deserved all 5 stars by itself. It was full of umami. It may be a little too salty for most people but I really enjoyed the flavours. There were plenty of shiitake mushrooms and juicy shrimp. I kept«sampling» this instead of eating my own sushi. If I go back, I won’t even crack open the menu. I will definitely be ordering the shrimp yakiudon. And maybe peppered tuna nigiri. The free soda refills were a nice touch. The prices are about average for that area. Overall, not a bad experience and it is a good choice for Asian food in that area.

This is the only place to get hibachi in the Canandaigua area and it doesn’t disappoint. While it’s not my favorite hibachi restaurant ever, it’s still delicious and you get a lot of food for what you pay. The hibachi dinners come with mushroom soup, salad with ginger dressing, fried rice, mixed veggies, shrimp appetizer, and your main entrée(i.e. chicken, steak, etc). If you eat everything, I guarantee you’ll be stuffed… unless you’re some kind of super human. I always get the steak and scallop meal and the scallops are the big sea scallops, not the little bay scallops. Quick tip: If possible, go there for lunch — You get almost the same amount of food for almost half of the price!

Best sushi around. the atmosphere is incredible. nice up-scale feeling no cheap stuff like in some sushi places. The people there are right off the boat too, no Americans making your sushi guaranteed. soup was great and all the rolls they have are fresh crunchy and dressed up great like the food network. great dessert too! tried the deep fried banana with whipped crème. all the sushi can be seen being made right there at the bar prices reflect the good quality u get there, but they have a really good lunch menu with reasonable specials.

I had the dinner bento box with beef teriyaki and it was delicious! The serving size was good for at least two full meals So many options to choose from! I only wish I had more room in my stomach for more sushi!

Great food and fun experience! I had dinner with a group of friends and we all enjoyed the hibachi show. The chef not only cooked a delicious meal but created a fun atmosphere. The chicken was cooked well and served with hearty serving of fried rice and cooked veg… More than enough to satisfy! The restaurant was a little loud for group conversation, but it was still a lot of fun and very yummy!

I had lunch at Sakura today and it was very good. I got the steak and shrimp hibachi lunch special which came with a side of delicious fried rice(saucy and good with egg – I LOVE when fried rice has big pieces of scrambled egg in it) and teriyaki mixed grilled veggies. Ooo and I forgot, it started with a wonderful soup and salad. The dressing on the salad was cool and sweet with the slightest hint of spice. I really enjoyed it. My mother had the shrimp tempura bento box lunch and in addition to her saying how good it tasted, it was a wonder to behold, the tempura was beautifully presented. This was a fantastic lunch. I can’t wait to go back.
