Want to feel like you’re on vacation without leaving the Rochester area? Then going to the Sand Bar is a must! It’s located right on Canandaigua Lake so you can look out onto the water and even pull right up in your boat. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a beer in the summer-time. I definitely recommend coming on the 4th of July where you have front row seats to the fireworks! The Sand Bar also has live music on occasion, giving it that Margaritaville vibe.

I strongly recommend you stop by Sandbar during a nice day in warm weather. I had a magical afternoon here this past Labor Day. I had a couple hours to kill and was quite pleased when the staff let me seat myself at a table alone right on the edge of the dock. I could practically reach out and touch the lake. The staff was really attentive the entire time and set a great vibe. Being Labor Day, many boaters and vacationers seemed to be celebrating the end of summer. I enjoyed a couple local beers from the Naked Dove Brewing Company down the street and watched the water and other patrons enjoying food and drinks. When I think of an ideal spot to spend a day of vacation, a place resembling Sandbar comes to mind.

If this bar was in the city it would fail. Service is fair, food is avg, and from frozen. Looking for a table was a joke. They don’t use a host or hostess to seat. Very awkward to find a seat when busy.

Not really sure what the hype is about this place. I came here for the first time and noticed that it was seat yourself. I(who have worked in a restaurant) asked the bartenders if it was okay if I sat down, just to be sure. I was polite and the girl behind the bar just responded«yeah» and was kind of annoyed that I had asked her what to do since it was not clear. It was packed so a table had gotten up and we sat down. No server came over for a while. Giving them the benefit of the doubt my family and I were still polite to the server once she came over to the table. She was not the issue. But you can definitely tell that the staff probably needs a chat. They seemed lifeless. You work on the water, have some fun! The menu was limited to me. I had the Mahi Mahi Grilled Sandwich with a «watermelon salsa». Sounds interesting, right? Basically cut up watermelon and onions and peppers. No flavor. For what you get, what its served in(plastic baskets with plastic silverware) and the prices, it was not really worth the drive out there. It was not AWFUL and you are near the water which I assume is why people love going there. Honestly, I don’t even usually write disappointing reviews on here ever but this place was not all that it’s cracked up to be. I think if they changed their menu, the presentation of the food they have and maybe were just a little more welcoming, they could really hit the jack pot. I mean, they are on Canandaigua Lake next to The Inn on the Lake. I won’t bash the place but I was disappointed. I would give them a second chance for sure. I hate to see places like this get bad reviews when they have the location down!

Went on 8/5/15…great scenery, however the menu and food is mediocre. Pretty much a Applebee’s on the lake. The place doesn’t have a drink menu. We had the Buffalo Chicken nachos the chicken was cold.

Didn’t fail to fail again. Decided to try again after last year’s getting yelled at for asking for a little service after waiting fifteen minutes. No it wasn’t busy at all. Got our own first round of drinks then snagged a table. Had ask for service but at least wasn’t yelled at for that this time. Took our orders for entrees and appetizer. Thirty minutes passed. Had to get out own second round of drinks. Server no where to be seen. Two other table had got their drinks and food before us. I went up to inquire. Got an excuse of well that how long it takes. Finally got appetizer. Fried shrimp that is a hard one. Then a turkey club wrap and a mahi mahi sandwich. Fried on mine were cold as well as the grilled fish. Ten minutes after asking for check got it after getting up. Followed her to the register because I had had enough waiting around. Don’t know how they stay in business but better start improving our the other end of the lake well put them under. Service slow and uncaring. Food no more than bar food. Going to the Front next time.

There are not many lakeside bars on Canandaigua Lake but the Sandbar at the Inn-on-the Lake Hotel on the north end of the lake is one we frequent when in the area. The great location is key and the prices are OK for the zip code. You can take your drinks and sit along the lake in their Adirondak chairs and watch the scene out of the water or hang out on their covered patio. For extra entertainment on weekends there maybe a wedding going on in the big tent on the hotel lawn which is usually good for some laughs. We’ve never eaten here — just had drinks.

Made our first visit of the year here today. The service was a nightmare. Screwed up our drinks to start then food was not cooked to temperature. Menu had like 4 items on it. Get a drink at the bar don’t eat or get a table save your time and money.

The Sand Bar is all about the view and the vibe. It’s part of the Inn on the Lake hotel complex. Walk down to the water and there it is. You are sitting right at the edge of Canandaigua Lake with a gorgeous view. Boats are pulling up and docking right next to you. It’s that kind of place — very relaxed and free-flowing. Our server was nice enough and our first round of drinks and one app(buffalo chicken nachos) came out promptly, but then she was hard to find. The nachos were decent — but you better like jalapenos, they were drowning in them. My margarita was actually quite good. Prices seemed ok. It’s Canandaigua on the water, so it’s not going to be a bargain. This is a great place to go — enjoy the view, people watch, have a couple of drinks and something to eat. And relax. If your waitress disappears… oh well… corral the next one who walks by!

I love taking the boat down here for lunch on the lake or a few drinks in the summertime, it’s so awesome that you can park your boat right there and enjoy yourself while keeping the boat within eyesight! It’s mainly bar food but definitely tasty, the buffalo chicken nachos I think are the best thing on the menu, but I’ve had wings, wraps, chicken sandwiches, and fries too and they’re all good. The service is sometimes slightly lacking but it’s usually a pretty busy place so it’s understandable. Also you seat yourself wherever something is open, so don’t go looking for a hostess stand! They have all kinds of fun drinks from blue whales to pitchers of margaritas, all at great prices and with great specials! And their big selection is sure to please anyone in your party. Definitely my favorite place on the lake by far, the location is what makes it so awesome!
