Smokin’ Hots made me sad. We love barbecue and were pretty excited to find a new place in Canandaigua so we visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Since we were new here, we decided to order some of everything for takeout. It ended up being a very expensive experiment. The meat was insipid. the brisket was flabby and lifeless, the ribs were tough, the chicken flavorless and the pulled pork dry, dry, dry. Even the sauces couldn’t bring it back to life. The sides were pretty much unmemorable, except for the black beans and corn. The beans were undercooked and hard as little rocks. Maybe it was just a bad day; we all have them. If there’d been a single redeeming item in our carryout boxes I would be willing to give them another try. But, sadly, there wasn’t.

WOW! The food here was spot-on great! I wish they had a satellite or cart down by the lake. Seriously. Being from out of town, I probably would not have found this place without Unilocal.It’s a bit off Main Street.

Found this place while looking for another. I own restaurants known for its bbq so I search out places like this wherever I travel. One word fantastic. I judge a smokehouse on their brisket which wasn’t done yet when I was there. Great excuse to go back. Ribs had great rub. Get them with sauce on the side you won’t need it but you want it. It’s excellent. Pulled pork flavorful but a little dry but who cares I had sauce. Sides — greens, dirty rice, corn and black beans good portions. Loved every finger I licked. Ambiance, it’s a whole in the wall just as it should be no air conditioning, at least when I was there, but that just added to it. Meet me there on Monday I have friend driving eight hours to meet me for dinner. I’m calling ahead so I get the brisket this time. Brew pub across the street — To go cup? I’m going to find out. If not I’m bringing my ice chest. Btw I’m taking a few racks of ribs home with me. Apparently the new owners took over last September. If they keep this up they’ll do very well. See you on Monday evening.

Oh my goodness is the food heavenly there… The burgers are so juicy… the mac and cheese is the best around… the collard greens are out of this world… and as for portions. you will never leave hungry… my daughter is addicted to the house made bbq sauce… ive been there many times and have never been disappointed… if you are craving some delicious food smokin hots is the place to go… and dont get me started on the smoked meats… the meat is so flavorful and tender… its a must go to r esteraunt in canandaigua !

I’ll start with the good I suppose… Delivery was incredibly efficient, having my food here in less than 20 minutes from when I ordered it. Okay, now the bad; I ordered a pulled pork garbage plate with mac n cheese and Cajun corn with black beans. Having lived in Rochester for many years, the Dinosaur BBQ(Sticky Lips is pretty close) and Nick Tahou’s(Jimmy Z’s is pretty close) set the bar for BBQ and garbage plates in the area. It only makes sense that when eating these two types of meals, one will compare and contrast to the bar. That being said, neither the pulled pork, nor the overall plate itself was close to being even satisfactory. The mac n cheese was worse than Kraft, the«Cajun» corn and black beans were bland and flavorless(which is comical considering the usual nature of Cajun food). So, as nice and efficient as the driver was, this place is not up to par.

Got plates from here and holy cow the portions are huge and delicious. Got a pulled pork plate and brisket plate. Prices are not bad especially considering the portions you receive. Homemade bbq sauce was banging

Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I was hoping for a lot more. The cooks were yelling at each other. The what I believe was the owner walked in the back and slammed the door. The meat hot sauce was really good but the brisket had NO flavor. I love BBQ, I didn’t feel this was BBQ. My 4 year old daughter however liked her hot dog and French fries.
