I just started coming to this studio while visiting family in Ohio, and I’ve been extremely impressed each time I’ve gone. I’ve attended quite a few yoga classes with different instructors, and everyone has been extremely nice and helpful. Still hoping to try out the barre and spin classes. The studio is clean, cozy, and offers a variety of classes each day, which is helpful if you have a flexible schedule. The only negative I’ve found is that sometimes people waiting for the next class to start can be very loud in the waiting area which is located right next to the yoga room, often interrupting the relaxation of savasana. I’d also love for them to integrate more chanting/spiritual elements in class and maybe even use oils on the third eye and temples while in savasana; but that’s just a request, not a complaint :) Overall Studio Oxygen is a fantastic studio in an area with very limited yoga options.

Absolutely love every class I have experienced with the Studio Oxygen Crew! Lots of classes, 7 days a week, which makes it easy to fit something into your schedule. The studio is always clean, the staff is always friendly, and the vibes are great!

Studio Oxygen sparked my love for yoga! I started going there when I was a sophomore in high school and now, a junior away at college, I love coming home to my little studio. I’ve been to yoga classes in larger cities and I still find that the yoga here is the absolute best. You don’t just get the physical benefits of yoga– each instructor provides you with helpful life lessons and stories that help you spiritually. If anyone is contemplating taking a class, I HIGHLY suggest you go. Marianne and Melissa are my favorite yoga teachers and Amy is my favorite spinning instructor but they are all wonderful!

I was very excited to find a yoga studio near my mom’s house so that I could practice over the Thanksgiving break. I attended one class at Studio Oxygen on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It was packed! Apparently there were a lot of out of towners like me just dropping in. My thoughts: 1) Studio set up: The studio is small! It would be helpful to mark off staggered spaces for mat alignment to ensure easy class set up. It also gives studio newcomers good direction for how to set up their mats if it isn’t clear. It’s obvious the space wasn’t designed with hot yoga in mind… there were heaters along one wall and a space heater on the other side of the room. I found it kind of odd, and also felt like it created uneven heat distribution, but that’s just a minor detail/observation. It didn’t detract from the practice. 2) Yoga Style: I was told before starting the class it would be a Baptiste style class. I enjoy a good hot flowing yoga class, but this was too fast! I found it difficult to coordinate breath to movement because of the fast pace. Personally, I believe that pranayama is just as important as asana in practice, so this was a huge drawback. The studio does offer a slow hot flow class, and if I’d had time I would have surely checked it out. Another note on the speed — it’s much easier to get hurt when the flow is that quick and there were some fitness/experience levels there that could have benefited from a slow down or more personal attention from the instructor. 3) Spirituality: I didn’t find much in this class. It seemed to be more about the calorie burn than anything(reminiscent of Core Power Yoga). The instructor even emphasized calorie burn on several occasions… meh. Save it for spin class. I find that reminders on alignment and breath are more helpful for maximizing yoga practice. 4) Boutique: They have a small offering of cute, higher –end yoga gear and accessories. It would have been nice to see more products for practice and spirituality(mats, blocks, bolsters, books on philosophy… and practical yoga clothing), but given that it’s such a small space I can understand the limitations. Since it seems options for yoga practice are scarce in the area, Studio Oxygen isn’t a terrible option. I’ll probably give it a try again the next time I’m home, just for the sake of maintaining a practice. I was hoping to find in Studio Oxygen a place where I could recommend my mom experience yoga for the first time, but for the lack of spiritual integration and emphasis on vanity, I think I’ll keep looking.
