I adore the Hearthstone Inn and have stayed several times in every room. The rustic beauty of the Inn is exceptional! Over the years I’ve seen many improvements and updates to the Hearthstone and it’s even better now that the Inn is under new ownership. I love being able to bring my standard poodle to this cozy place, and cook in the nicely equipped kitchen. The bed is comfy and the décor is charming and welcoming. The TV works great and the hotel offers hundreds of DVDs for an evening in front of the fire. The location is perfect. Just a short walk from the beach and there are great restaurants and galleries close by. If there is every any kind of problem with a room at the Hearthstone, and I’ve never encountered one in all the time I’ve been staying there, Claudia and her warm and friendly staff are always there to take care of things as quickly as possible. I’ve seen the staff in action first hand, and they are terrific! I’ve never had a bad night at the Hearthstone. It’s like staying in your grandmother’s cabin. Cozy, rustic and inviting.

I stayed in room 24 this past weekend and absolutely loved it! If you also enjoy and appreciate the rustic cabin feel, this is the place for you. It’s warm, cozy, and comfortable, especially with the fireplace when it’s lit. The bed was extremely comfortable as well. I definitely want to come back and stay here again.

Do not waste your money! I am normally a fair person and like to give the benefit of the doubt. For the pricey accommodations, it was very poor. –saggy mattress –rude check in staff –dust(and I mean thick, layers) on floor, counters, blinds –active mold in bathroom, on walls –old and dinged up walls, marks. Now, if I was staying at a Motel 6, or the like, I would have expected such conditions. However, at $ 225 a night, it was ridiculous. No outdoor seating area, and low quality in general. The only thing going for this place is location, it sits right on the main drag. However, the walls are thin and with a saggy mattress, it’ll be a looooong restless night…

We stay in room 25 recently. The place was decent, clean with a firm bed. The walls thin and we could hear our neighbors, fortunately we both went to bed at the same time. This place is right off the main drive so you can hear the cars roll by. However many might not have an issue with this since Cannon beach is in general a busy location. I think I would vote for the Mcbee cottages over this location if I stayed with this company again. There is not a good outside area to sit, yet at the Mcbee location there is a large communal area with picnic tables & chairs. The biggest disappointment was the curt staff at the reception area. At the price of 171 $ a night I general expect a friendly & welcoming experience. In general I have had much warmer experiences at Arch cape Inn or The spindrift in Manzanita.

Update: 7 days later, I have not heard from these folks after I was assured when I checked out that she would email me. I emailed them twice asking for an update and never received a reply. I finally called them today and indeed they did give me credit for the 2 unused days. For that I am thankful.

I stayed in room #27 last weekend and enjoyed it very much! The room was very cozy and had a cabin-feel. We brought food to cook in the kitchen. Sadly, the stove wasn’t working but the front desk compensated us for the troubles. Great rooms always from this company, and great customer service! I will continue to stay at these hotels.

I wouldn’t stay here again. For $ 150 a night, it was terrible. The carpet was disgusting. It had visible stains on it and just seemed dirty overall. There were cobwebs in the skylight. How hard is it to clean that? The kitchen seemed kinda gross too. I wouldn’t actually cook in it. The bathroom was tiny and only had a small shower. The only good thing was that there was a real fireplace and they provided those little logs in a bag to make a fire with.
