NRG Heating & Air Conditioning

After receiving numerous cold calls from this company we finally decided to give them a shot at repairing a minor duct problem with our attic AC (1 room didn’t get air). The tech Frank was friendly enough and fixed our problem for $ 200 (yikes!), we thought, but it wasn’t hot enough to feel a big difference. When a heat wave hit we discovered that, though that one room had air flow, none of the rest of the house did now. When I called NRG to ask them to fix whatever they had broken in the in the attic, they told me that we were just past their 30 day warranty, and so they would need to charge us nearly $ 100 to have someone even look at the problem. I tried to reason with them and explain that it was their Tech who had caused the problem, but they just kept repeating the warranty and said they had no responsibilities. Terrible customer service, terrible hvac service, giant waste of time & money. No wonder they have to resort to cold calls to stay in business.

Received an unsolicited cold sales call for solar — my number is on the national do not call list. I have no preexisting business relationship with this company.
I asked the representative for his company info (website, address, etc.), which is how I verified he was calling on behalf of NRG. (

He tried to convince me that somehow the unsolicited call was Ok because I’d checked a box on «some web form somewhere.» I asked if he could substantiate it, but of course he couldn’t.
He then continued to market to me about the benefits of solar.
The real kicker is after I asked (ok, demanded.) to be put on their do not call list and to never call me again, his parting shot was that he would call me back «in 5 minutes if he wanted to.»
Wow. Just wow.

This company has been calling me for months from several different spoofed numbers. When I would answer and tell them I was not interested in their services they hang up before I can ask to be taken off their call list permanently. Of course, when I try to call them back, the number is not a working number. So, after having this happen several times, I decided to try a new approach. I went ahead and let them make an appointment for me the following day, and never answered the phone or the door. In other words, I am wasting their time. I’ve done this twice now and made another «appointment» with them tomorrow, which I wont’ be able to make. Maybe if I waste enough of their time they’ll stop calling???
Incidentally, the number they gave me to call if I needed anything (after I made the appointment) is a working number 818−340−7333. Feel free to make nuisance calls.

Had a call from them and was told a good price for them to come out and service our home, and given a time window of 9 – 11 for ⁵⁄₂. Around 9:30 they called and said «the person that called is new and gave you the wrong price and it’ll be double» I told the rep. to cancel my appointment then and he decided to do a sale spiel instead of simply canceling as I requested. Had to repeat to him to cancel the service, he said okay and I hung up. Talk about a bait and switch scam.

Stop ! Stop ! your cold sales calls ! I’ve been receiving your calls for years ! I tell you guys to stop. I’v placed several FTC complaints. Today I got a call from NRG Canoga Park, Ca. The next time you call me I am going to make a demand by law. You owe me $ 1000.00 for your violation. You owe me a copy of your DNC policy when I ask for it. By law if you don’t provide it you owe me an additional $ 500.00. In case you can’t add thats $ 1500.00 You might want to settle out of court or it will cost you an additional $ 500.00 to hire a lawyer. You have many complaints on Unilocal about your service & unwanted sales calls. Your conduct is unbecoming of a professional. I plan on printing out all these complaints and bring them to court.

Not happy with this company, have dealt with them in the past. It’s always about $ and it’s the bad attitudes from the techs that have finally driven me away, this time around.

DO NOT USE!!! Company cold called our house stating that they had serviced our house before. They came out to do an annual duct cleaned and told us that the furnace needed to be replaced. They stated that it is spewing gas out of the unit and needs to be completely replaced. We thought they were telling the truth, and placed a deposit on a new unit to the tun of $ 4500. The next day we called out another heating company to give us a second opinion. Turns out there is not one thing wrong with our furnace. It works perfectly well. Do not let this happen to you!

I’ve used NRG for years as the maintenance company on my roof top unit, when the time came to replace it they were a tremendous help.
I did my homework, got quotes from other companies and NRG came through with the best overall price, the installation was very smooth, heat and A/​C work great, and the crew was punctual and professional.
I’ve had zero issues with my new unit and would recommend NRG to everyone that needs
HVAC work done. The office manager Mike Malloy was extremely helpful during the process.

I hired NRG to diagnose a broken air handler. They didn’t want to try fixing it so instead recommended I replace the whole unit. I chose to hire another company the next who came in a fixed unit instead of replacing it.

I am so furious with this company, my mom was using them annually for maintenance up until 5 years ago. I looked over her work orders and every maintenance they would charge her for several lbs. of R-​22. They never did any leak repairs, never told her she had a leak, never recommended a leak search or repair, just kept charging her annually and telling her its normal. I finally had her start using another company and we have not had to recharge the system once in the past 5 years. The technician at NRG took advantage of my mom being a single older woman and charged her for something she didn’t need. They did not add refrigerant to her system because the system would be overcharged! Today we tried a new company, as a second set of eyes, and they too said the system was operating properly with no signs of low charge.

THE. WORST.
Have received a phone call almost ONCE a day from this company on my work line for over 6 months now.
Very rude, always hangup on me when I ask in a VERY POLITE way to be taken off the list. After searching forever on google finally found their phone number here, reached a live person who was very nice and agreed to take my number off the list and now I get called twice a day on my fax line from them.
PLEASEEEEE STOP THIS TYPE OF CALLING! If someone wants your business let them call you.

Got a call from these people. Never have done business with them before. The call came in at the same time as another call involving a plumbing emergency at one of my apartment buildings. Shifted to call-​waiting and got a solicitation (telemarketer) for NRG.
Told them we’re on the Do Not Call list, but the NRG caller didn’t seem phased by it. Told him I had an emergency on another line and not to call back. Finished my other emergency call, and then began looking into NRG’s policies and complaints.
According to other complaints here on Unilocal,they routinely violate the Federal TCPA and solicit customers by phone until the victim tells them to leave them alone. As far as I have always known, the TCPA was put into place specifically to stop telephone solicitations just like this one.
If we had done business with NRG in the past, it would be different. NRG comes off as a company that begs for business by phone. Being an apartment owner, they ruined their own chances of getting our business by not simply looking us up and sending us proposal materials in the mail. Instead, they chose to interrupt our business by phone, which is offensive and a business interruption. For that reason, NRG is now on our «do not hire» list.
The company is apparently owned by someone named Yossi Tamir. Somewhere along the line he woke up a few years ago and discovered that people didn’t like to get telemarketing calls. NRG now has damage control reviews as a result, all seemingly created AFTER the telemarketing complaints began surfacing on the net. This tells me he knows he has been violating the TCPA and doesn’t care about it. It also tells me his violations are intentional.
If you have read this review this far, then know that the TCPA contains a provision for damages you can sue for against any company that violates that law. Do a Google for the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and read about your rights as a consumer. Then see a lawyer and sue these people, or sue them yourself in Small Claims Court. The law says each instance of a violation can result in a judgment in your favor for $ 500.00 or higher. If they call you more than once, then multiply the $ 500.00 by that number, and in some cases you can even get more damages on top of that.
Yossi won’t stop illegal telemarketing until his victims start fighting back in court for violations of this very powerful federal law. We don’t EVER hire any company that telemarkets and he will find himself on the wrong side of a TCPA lawsuit if he calls us again.

PLEASE STOP THE SALES CALLS!!! I have filed complaint with DO NOT CALL LIST. The worst thing is the marketers are so incredibly rude!!! DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN!!! I am not leaving my number here. I am asking you as a business to take a number off your list when a person asks your rude sales caller to take them off the list. They simply hang up the minute i say, «I have asked you before…» CLICK. Then they call back.

I hate to rain on everyone’s parade, but I am blown away at NRG’s concept of ‘value added’ when it comes to parts replacement for A/​C repair.
I have an older Carrier 2 ton AC which is cooling and heating the converted garage –now a large family room — in my home. I had a handyman install new digital thermometer and in the process, he blew the defrost/​controller board in the AC — as told to me by NRG when I paid them for an estimate of the repair ($ 65), which i felt was a fair price.
They told me to get in going, the board would have to be replaced and the new PCBA, not including labor, would run $ 1000. I mentioned that I may get the board myself and have them install it, to which they mentioned they will not install hardware they didn’t purchase, a company policy. Using my father’s connections (he worked at ACCO for 35 years before he passed away last year), a quick call to the local Carrier distributor makes it instantly clear why NRG will only install hardware they purchase:
The defrost/​controller board cost only $ 75 at the distributor.
I cannot conceive of a legitimate reason why hardware should be marked up 1000%. This is price gauging in my view. It makes no sense and needless to say, NRG isn’t getting my business nor my recommendation to others.

It’s so refreshing to see companies conduct business the way this guys do. Let’s be honest, big businesses are after your money and lack of that personal touch we all like and appreciate. This is where NRG came to the rescue! We were in need of Solar heating panels and while shopping around we realized that this company had the product that we were looking for.
But wait, that’s not it. We not only got a great price BUT outstanding service! It was great to see a company that cares so much about their business and the way they treat their customers.
Highly satisfied with every aspect of the transaction.

I had a very pleasant experience with NRG.
I was stuck in a pickle while housesitting my buddy’s place; and the unimaginable happened… the AC went out. I found these guys online and they came right away. The service was exceptional, friendly, and prompt.
Definitely recommend!

They pretty much replaced the air tubes of my heater, now I’m not cold anymore! Every time I kept turning on the heater it wouldn’t warm up more than 70degrees.
They are very professional and timely as well as friendly. For the kind of service I received the cost was very competitive comparing to other quotes I got.

It pains me to do this, but…
NRG seems to have proper credentials in the field of heating and air conditioning, but also seems to be the source of continual cold calls (in violation of the National Do Not Call Registry) with the same tired script of «I’m from your neighborhood heating and air conditioning company; when was the last time you had your a/​c serviced; we have a $ 40 special». Thanks, though, for very politely answering with the real name and location of your company when asked.
Dude… write this down and remember it: we have a heating and a/​c contractor already. We have a service contract and we are happy with their work. I’ve told you that again, and again, and again.
Do you not understand simple English?

Yossi… I’m urging you to do your marketing in a legal and consumer-​friendly way. Cold calls from boiler rooms is not the right way to do business. If you do that, then my personal issues with unwanted calls from your company will fix itself. Understand… or does there need to be a DNC Registry complaint filed?
