RIP Rocky Roasters. I pass by your old location everyday and wish you were still there. It was literally 5 minutes from my home and I could have freshly roasted beans whenever I wanted. Now to get that I have to travel much further, and many times, the laziness gets the better of me so I don’t.

The retail store is gone. Today I purchased some«Italian espresso» blend at the Canoga Park farmers market on Owensmouth. They told me it had been roasted a day ago. The beans were dark roasted and slightly oily. I just pulled a double shot this afternoon. There was not a lot of crema but the flavor was nice. Heavily roasted but not at all burnt like Starbucks. Its my new favorite dark roast!

What a bummer. Just stopped by Rocky’ to get some Jamaican Blue beans for Xmas. Rocky is out of business. Looks like he will still be selling coffee at the farmer’s markets in Calabasas and Encino. This place will be sorely missed.

A gem. If you truly love coffee and love to be around knowledgable coffee people, stop by this place. There is zero attitude here, it’s all about the coffee. Dyno selection of freshly roasted beans from around the world, not some premade blend that someone far away thinks you should drink. Park in back and walk in that way. Watch Rocky at work at his roaster through the glass partition. Ask questions and learn about this most amazing delight called COFFEE!

Cool little spot on a busy Canoga ave. I sipped on a decent Americano as I read about A. Hamilton. There are no couches or wi-fi, more of a place to grab your coffee and go. Because it’s so small, it’s hard to get comfortable with your drink if you do decide to stay in. Play chess with giant knights and pawns, if you like. The parking on the main street is limited to one hour, there’s a lot in the back, or just park in the nearby neighborhood.

Rocky Roasters serves the best coffee in the valley. They roast their own coffee from all over the world. I recommend you take some home and brew your own(I recommend coffee from Guatemala, Huehuetenango). If you are a coffee condoseur, you’ll love this place. The employees are nice. You could ask them anything, even if your not a coffee snub.

My first experience with Rock Roasters was seeing them on a silly make-over TV show. We were living in Pittsburgh at the time, but knew we would shortly be living in los Angeles. We decided one day we would Enjoy Rocky’s coffee. A few months later we moved to Los Angeles Woodland Hills to be exact. A mere 5 – 6 blocks, long, long blocks, from Rocky Roasters. Sure enough, we drank Starbucks for 3 months. Those were sad days. Then we remembered Rocky Roasters. It was so close and so perfect. We stopped by early one Saturday morning. We were greeted by a friendly guy(who seems to no longer be there). He gave us a small cup each to taste the coffee of the day. It was like coffee heaven. We have since gone back most every Saturday morning for our morning cups of coffee, and during the week we grind and brew which ever tasty pound of coffee we purchased on those Saturday mornings. While We are not so fond of his blends, they are good just not our favorites, we really enjoy his beans from Costa Rica. We look forward to drinking many more cups of Rocky’s coffee.

My friend and i were recommended this place by the guy who works next door. Possibly the friendliest service i’ve ever gotten in a coffee shop, and the lady working there made us the most amazing iced coffee either of us have EVER tasted. the hours kind of suck for a typical college student lifestyle, but i will definitely go back whenever i’m on that side of the valley. HIGHLY recommended!!!

After watching the show Peter Perfect, I finally made it to Rocky Roaster today. I was thoroughly impressed with not only how the makeover turned out, but also upon meeting Rocky himself. The minute my boyfriend and I walked in, he helped us pick out 2 lbs of coffee beans based on our tastes and educated us about coffee roasting. Rocky really knows this business and it was so nice of him to take the time out to talk to us. We definitely recommend this coffee house to everyone and we plan on coming back for a cupping session. There is plenty of seating inside and even a chess set. THANKYOUROCKY!!!

First, I have to inform you(the reader) of my bias, I did work here for a summer. but. That doesn’t change the fact that Rocky(the owner) brews one damn fine cup of joe. Coffee fresh roasted every day(which any patron can look at through the main shop) and served to perfection. This is a guy who treats coffee tasting like wine and it shows in the quality of the beans he picks and roasts. Only complaints, not a great place to hang out, bad location for a store and not open at convenient hours for someone of night owl life like my self(which is understandable, most of their business comes from supplying local restaurants with house coffee, not from the walk in customer) If you like coffee, come in and enjoy a great cup. Oh, and if you are someone who is used to putting in crème and sugar into your coffee, try before add; you’d be surprised how good coffee really doesn’t need anything to help with the taste.

Do you enjoy roasting your own coffee beans? Cool! Cos Rocky Roaster has those pretty beans of green for you to take home and do your magic with. They also roast their own and carry everything from Jamaican Blue Mountain to an Organic coffee from Papua New Guinea. Note* — My friend who enjoys roasting his own beans loves to use their Peaberry.
