This place is fire! 5 stars all day. Sizzling rice soup, yang chow fried rice n slippery shrimp. Call it a night n sleep like a baby :). A little pricey, but food comes family style. You’ll always have left overs and perfect for a group of people.

This is my second visit to a Yang Chow, first time to this location. Delicious food, even the leftovers were good cold. «Slippery Shrimp» was my favorite!

Disappointment! That is the first word that comes to mind. The prices are high and the food was not that good. My food was either too salty or it didn’t have any flavor. I will not be coming back to this place.

I just didn’t finish the schechuan chicken very soupy and way too sweet. Years ago it was very good. I don’t know when they changed but I’m not going there again. The brown rice was good. That I’ll finish.

Best Chinese food in the valley. The staff is always super attentive and friendly. Slippery shrimp is a must!

The service is terrible as if they just don’t care if you come or not-not warm and caring-never once asked if everything is OK(isn’t that a restaurant golden rule?)-my soup was cold and they changed the type of soup without even telling us-I didn’t eat it and they didn’t care either. I asked why the change-their answer was because we did. This restaurant is pretty empty during lunch and I see why-It’s pretty obvious they don’t like customers and the food is OK-The one in Chinatown is 100 times better and can’t understand why the 2 are on opposite ends of the spectrum

I am %100 I’m love with the slippery shrimp! If you go here you have to order this dish! It’s always hot and crunchy, the shrimp are always fresh and the sauce is to die for. Little sweet little heat prefect balance. Anytime I’m out in LA I have to stop buy and grab some. I usually also get the egg foo young and garlic eggplant.

AMAZING food! Delicious food, roomy space, not crowded in the early afternoon… Hot chamomile tea when you sit down. No wonder it’s a celebrity favorite! Price doesn’t hurt, either…

This is pretty good Chinese food, Slippery shrimp was legit — everything else is pretty average. It does seem to have some nostalgic vibes for those who grew up in the Valley. If you end up over there, you’ll probably like it — especially if you go with a Valley local, because you’ll end up taking a walk down memory lane with them. But food-wise, it’s nothing to drive over the canyon for.

Came in with a party of 10. Exterior of Building looks old but interior looks renovated. Seated quickly, service was friendly and food came in a timely manner. Slippery shrimp is their best known dish and did not disappoint. Yang Chow fried rice(shrimp, pork, chicken) was delicious. All items ordered were great and entire party was satisfied. Definitely recommend the slippery shrimp!

Mediocre Chinese food with poor service. We came here once before by a recommendation and tried a second time. We regret that we came back– won’t be back. Food is bland and nothing special.

There is a reason this place doesn’t have a good review, it’s bad! Avoid this place even though they have a location downtown too, it doesn’t make this location good. They have not had a deep clean on the inside or outside based on how dirty it looks. This is a place that the kitchen kinda of worries me, as the dishes came out dirty and the floor was sticky right up inside the kitchen. Greasy, overpriced, and no flavor! It’s an up charge to even get white meat even though the dishes start at $ 14.95 on average. The food came out over 30 min, and was cold on top of. being late to the table and flavorless. Don’t even try the food, the kitchen looks dirty and the restaurant looks the same. I’ve tried almost all the local Chinese places and this is one of the worst, though most in this area are very bad. Avoid Yang Chow at all costs as you’ll be very disappointed if you even give them a try.

If I could give no stars I would choose that. Poor customer service. We came in at 9, they close at 930. We were rushed to order. $ 16.75 for bad unflavored chicken snow peas, $ 1 extra per tiny bowl of steamed rice. Unfriendly staff. Small portions. Not worth the money. Before done eating he requested us to icky pay check. People are still here and not rushed Will never return. Expensive food poor flavor and I know Chinese food this isn’t good enough for what they charge. They do pace your table waiting for the check Very rude feel like we are being forced out.

I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. Service was okay, food was less than average. Interior reminded me of a typical Americanized Chinese restaurant back in the 90s in a smaller town(if that makes sense). As soon as we walked in, I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be as great as I was hoping it would be. We typically go to Sam Woo in Van Nuys, but Yang Chow is much closer to our home – so, it would’ve been great if it were delicious AND close to home. First, the interior disappointed me, and when most of the diners are Caucasian(90%), I knew immediately it wasn’t going to be the best dining experience as I thought after seeing the rating on Gogobot(should’ve gone by the Unilocal review, sorry Gogobot). Finally, what made it even disappointing was the cost! Sam Woo has way better food and prices. I don’t care how close a restaurant is, I’d rather drive further for more tasty food.

I love this place and their other location in China town. Try their deep fried fish. Food is great and customer service is outstanding. I definitely recommend this place for Chinese food.

There was dead bugs inside my fortune cookie after I consumed two. When we confronted the manager, he was at a loss for words and blamed it on the factory where they order their cookies from. My boyfriend then grabbed multiple fortune cookies, opened them all up in front of them and there you have it. 4⁄5 cookies had dead bugs stuck on the inside of the cookie. One of them was still moving.

This has to be the same sauce restaurant. I ordered the Yang Chow lamb and I swear it was beef and it had the sweet oyster sauce. The clams in black bean sauce also came with same sweet oyster sauce with some black beans in it. The clams were not live clams but refrigerated clams and it was not good at all. Next was the mixed vegetables and you guessed it, the same oyster sauce with a salty vengeance. The food was palatable but lacks imagination in what chinese cuisine could be. I only came here because it was late and I could not make it in time to another chinese restaurant.

Yang Chow has friendly service and lots of space for large groups, but the food and pricing here make it hard to recommend. I came for lunch and was surprised to see that the lunch specials cost the same amount as a full entrée(~$ 13). I opted for the entrée Kung Pao Diced Tofu($ 12.50) and some brown rice($ 1.50). The portion size was small considering the high price and the dish wasn’t that great — -the tofu had a stickiness to it(I’m guessing they used too much cornstarch) and the rice was low-grade. They didn’t otherwise have any interesting vegetarian/vegan options. If you’re in the Canoga Park area, I’d recommend Golden Garden Wok on Victory Blvd. It’s more hole-in-the-wall, but the prices are really low, the portion sizes are bigger, and the food tastes much better. Golden Garden Wok also has way more vegan options. All told, Yang Chow is a disappointment. I’m giving it 3 stars because the service was fast and friendly.
