The place is by old, very outdated… smelled awful. Cleanliness was so so… not filthy, but not great. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Very noisy with the road noise… didn’t need a night light because there was so much light coming in from around our locked door. Wouldn’t stay here again. Do not recommend this place. Kim D.

One of the worse motels I have ever stayed in my life. Person on check in was rude and did not have good customer service skills! Room was very outdated! Very outdated. We went and bought are own pillows and blankets because we didn’t know when the last time they were washed. Pool was drained and not in working order. Asked about good food in area all they would recommend is the Mexican restaurant on site! Didn’t feel safe at this location at all. No security seen. Lots of sketchy people around motel. Would not walk around at night outside motel. Stay somewhere else! Stay at your own risk! Also the road is right in front of motel all you hear are cars all day and night! Room smelled funny!

Thought I would add a newer post, as we stayed here on a quick visit to the Gorge. The management appears to be trying as the rooms we stayed in had been recently upgraded. They had added new carpets and updated their bathroom and tv’s. We stayed in a King bed which was comfortable and the room was clean. The staff were nice and offered recommendations for places to eat and overall for a motel, it fit the needs. There are limited accommodations in town, so don’t expect a Hilton.

Got stuck with this place from Hotwire. I have a since of adventure so thought what the heck lets stay here. Been in the military and have a perspective of how crappy sleeping accommodations can be. First room had 2 dead nice and second room had so much nice poop in the vent in the bathroom window it looked like gravel. Lady at desk seemed like she didn’t care and rooms smelled o old cigarettes. By far the worst place I have ever sated. Do yourself a favor and pay 10 more a night and stay at the Econo Lodge down the road. Seriously if I could give this place negative stars I would. You have been warned…

First of all, Canon City is TINY and there isn’t much there. There is the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park and many different train rides through the Gorge and a ton of businesses for white water rafting. There is the Colorado Museum of Prisons and The Abbey Winery. All of this can be done in one day — because we did it(except the rafting), The ENTIRE town is built right up against access roads so expect a lot of u-turns to get to where you want to go, EVERY hotel is up against the access roads except for Super 8. Even the Hampton Inn is on the road. The hotel staff — they were all very friendly and helpful. One even provided some old school printed directions to the Bishop Castle(go, but don’t do a day trip for this one.) They also upgraded us to a king room for a queen room price for our honeymoon. They really tried. Did we laugh when we arrived? Absolutely. They have a mini golf course the is really sad and the pool wasn’t full and had a tarp hanging on the side for dear life. Our king room was one room from the road next to the stairs. We were not put in the back of the property — so ask for it if you can. How to sleep — one sleeping pill, a personal fan and the air conditioner. Didn’t notice a thing. I am a super light sleeper and I was fine. The room — small and clean. I had no issues with the cleanliness at all and I am super picky. Other people’s hair is disgusting. The place is fine if you aren’t planning on spending all day there. Have a sense of humor when traveling. This is along the lines of Super 8. Oh yeah, they still have Renaissance Inn paper, pens and cups. I guess the have Wi-fi but we had to use their computer and it was un-Godly slow.

This motor inn was like the room in the movie Hitcher, you could hear the trucks flying by on the highway outside. I was afraid to put my bags on the carpet, because of not wanting to pick up cockroaches. There weren’t enough locks on the doors to make you feel safe. The staff was rude, the other customers were smoking bikers. I couldn’t wait to get out of Canon City. If it wasn’t for the prison museum there wouldn’t have been a reason to go. The museum was hauntingly macabre. And was right next door to(Old Max) which still houses 961 prisoners. It was frightening. And down the street sits the Arkansas River Inn, with scarier people staying in it, then who they came to visit in prison.
