Fact: this was my first visit to a cobbler(and A Cobbler) ever. I had no idea what to expect, but I had an interview coming up, and my go-to heels were looking a bit run down. The cap on the end of the heel had worn off, showing the metal support. I actually had just learned you could replace this a few months ago — not sure how I skipped that lesson! After getting out of work one day, I wandered down the stairs to get to A Cobbler(after first mistakenly walking into the suit store next door to the stairs). I got to the store, which was filled with shoe-related things: polish, used shoes for sale(like a thrift shop), shoe laces, etc. The cobbler himself was polishing some shoes on the machines he had behind the counter. Nervous because of my lack of knowledge of all things shoe repair, I showed him my heels, expecting to have to pick them up in a few days(shhh — how was I to know?). NOPE. He took maybe 10 minutes to replace the caps, and then polished them up so that they looked 3x as good as they did before. He also advised me that the tips of the sole were wearing down and that I should consider getting that fixed soon — I was 1) not aware that this was a problem shoes could have and 2) not aware it could be fixed, but he showed me how to determine that. I asked him about what else he could do, and it turns out just about anything, especially with leather shoes. ANYWAY, great service, will definitely return here for all my shoe needs. I’m pretty seriously considering just taking piles of shoes to him so that he can make them fit me perfectly — after talking to him, I’m somewhat convinced that I never have to suffer through painful shoes again, I just have to get them adjusted — just like clothes. This may be too optimistic, but this man seems like a shoe wizard.
