It has most of the Indian groceries, even the Punjabi vadiyan too, which I never found in other Indian stores. The owner is helpful if you ask him something which you doesn’t know where does the item that you want is kept. He is jovial too and when my toddler son wanted to put the juice himself for billing, the owner asked him to pay his bill himself. So to me, he appeared as a friendliest person and affectionate towards small children too. This store doesn’t have fresh vegetables but has frozen vegetables. And it’s okay with me since I like to buy vegetables from local grocers, and Indian vegetables which are not available in USA are actually available frozen with any Indian grocers. This store doesn’t sell steel utensils, but has certain idli stands, rolling pins and certain cooking tools. It also had Samosa, jalebi, Pani-puri packet and other Indian sweets. I bought samosa and it was fresh and tasty. I went there after reading reviews here and people remarked it as cheapest one, but when I compared the prices from Indian stores in Farmington Hills, I found it’s rates equivalent to them and not cheaper.

Hubby and I stopped here upon a recommendation from a co-worker on our mission to find Pav Bhaji Masala… and we were pleasantly impressed. Albeit the small size, there was a lot of supplies. We only picked up a few things but we will be back for more stuff.

Anand Bazaar is my favorite Indian grocery store, and I have tried six or seven in the area. By far, Anand Bazaar has the friendliest service, and the best parking. It also has the best selection of fresh produce, frozen goods, snacks, spices and pickles, plus anything else you might want. From the first time I visited Anand Bazaar, the two brothers who run the place were very welcoming. They helped me know how best to cook some legumes that were unfamiliar, and kept me from buying white turmeric when I wanted ginger(they look a lot alike!). My young son is often with me when I shop, and the owners and other patrons are very tolerant of an active boy racing around. The owners even keep Dum-Dums on hand for such occasions.(Once, when he was desperately thirst, they were happy to let him drink a juice before I paid for it. Another time, they let him back in the storeroom to use their bathroom when that was necessary.) Their kindness to us would make me shop there, even if I didn’t love the shop itself. One other thing I enjoy about Anand Bazaar is the selection of prepared foods and sweets they offer. They have the tastiest samosas(only $.75 each!), herbed flatbreads, fried jalapenos… every day is different. They also have Indian sweets in their refrigerated case up front(Jalebi and various Burfi) that are delicious. Because they are made of milk, I’ve convinced myself that burfi are healthy and I can have all I want! Anand Bazaar is on Cherry Hill, in a strip with a Curves, M&M Café and a Domino’s Pizza. Please note that a $ 10 purchase is required to use a credit card.
