there was a fire on two stores the canton coney and a fireplaces shop this spring… just rode by the canton coney today and they are closed… another shopowner thinks they will open somewhere else… but they are defiantly not in this building any longer, i guess the fire was worse than it looked

Great if your looking for a family coney island. Good place for kids and as far as cony islands go this place is huge. Last time I headed over there they were remodeling so I’m excited to see the new décor.

My wife and I have gone here several times. They often have coupons from which makes the food very inexpensive. We always get Greek dishes, like spanokopita and gyros and they are always made fresh and delicious.

The location of this Coney Island surprised me. For some reason I thought it was south of Ford Rd., but it was actually just south of Joy Rd. across from Mettetal Airport. We went in just after the breakfast hour and walked into an empty restaurant looking for a quick, cheap, tasty breakfast. We managed to get a fairly quick breakfast, but we missed any specials and it seemed a little like we cleaned up the remaining hash browns, sausage, ham, bacon and eggs just before serving lunch. I’m always a little leary of an empty restaurant and this was no exception. The service was OK and I’m sure this was the exception and not the rule at the Canton Coney Island. I can only go 2 stars for now, but I’ll probably be back…

This place is decent for a coney… The only thing I’ve ever had here is the breakfast sandwhiches which are simple but great. You get a few sausages and a few eggs and cheese for a pretty good price. People seem to love the other breakfast items but I have yet to try any thing besides the breakfast sandy.

If it weren’t for the saving grace at the end, this place would get 1 star! First, we weren’t even acknowledged for about 10mins after we walked in. The waitress was nice but sitting at a table in the back corner messing around in inexcusable. After ordering our food, my daughter’s meal was brought out about 15mins before mine. Luckily she’s four and a slow eater so that part worked out. However, in a normal circumstance that would never be OK. I ordered the«chicken breast with green peppers, tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms». Yes, that’s all it read on the menu. When it was brought to me, it was covered in a nasty sauce that somewhat resembled teriyaki sauce but with my diabetes, it is not something I should be eating. In addition, they did not add the mushrooms. To top it all off, I bit down into my first bite to find a piece of cartilage in my chicken. Did the waitress offer to take it off my bill or exchange it? Nope. Nothing. Not even an «I’m sorry». So unprofessional. I will NEVER be returning! Nor will I allow this to go unheard. This is the WORST place I have EVER eaten at. The only reason I did not give them a 1 star is because a man who I believe was the manager was over-the-top kind to my daughter and I will always take that to heart. I’m done.

Your basic coney island really, but with a little more«home cooking» taste. I went in the morning and ordered the«Big Breakfast». 3 eggs over medium, country style potato’s, 3 bacon, 2 sausage links, ham, and wheat toast. Everything was pretty good, not remarkable. The ham could have had a LOT less fat left on it, but otherwise everything was tasy and plentiful. Service was good and the restaurant was very clean. I’d go back again if I was in the area.

We come here at least once a month. Food is good and arrives quickly. The staff are friendly and they have face painting for the kids on Friday nights which is a big draw for our kids! Look for discounts in monthly coupon mailers.

This is probably closer to a 3.25, but the friendly staff bumped this place up. *Note– this is primarily a review of their breakfast buffet. Came here the other Sunday with the fam to gorge ourselves on my favorite meal of the day. AMBIANCE– when you walk up to this place, it looks like it’s closed. That’s most likely because most of the places around it are closed/out of business. When you step inside, you see your typical Coney Island. They had a real nice big screen on the far wall when you walk in, and plenty of tables. There appeared to be another section that they did not open due to the slowness at the time. SERVICE– the servers their are super friendly. They had a real team concept down, and multiple people were asking us if we needed anything– from drinks to condiments. They definitely made you feel like a regular, even though it was only our first time. Even the owner(or who I presumed to be the owner) was very friendly. He saw our son causing a ruckus and came over and gave him a couple of lollipops. That calmed him down right quick. MENU– my wife debated getting something outside of the breakfast buffet, but for the price, how can you go against it? Still, we perused the menu. Typical«Coney Island» offerings, they seemed to have a slightly larger selection than a «National» or «Leo’s», especially with regards to entrees. Nothing out of the ordinary– something to please everyone. FOOD– breakfast buffet had your typical offerings– biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes, etc… Biscuits were pretty dry, and the gravy didn’t help it all that much. The hashbrowns were just meh, though they put a better batch out later on. The sausage was pretty damn tasty, and the pancakes were on point. That was probably my favorite part of the whole meal. They seem to be pretty excited to serve«Dearborn» Ham. I had never heard of this before, and can’t say I was all that impressed, then again, when served buffet style, it may have lost something in the translation. Oh yeah, we ordered a fruit smoothie– not good. Should have gotten a milk shake instead. OVERALL– $ 5 breakfast buffet? Hell yes. They have coupons in a bunch of the mailers, so feel free to keep an eye out for that. Perhaps next time we go back, we’ll order food instead of the buffet. It’ll still be breakfast that I plan on getting. Check it out. CELEBRITYRATING– Maya Rudolph

Canton Coney Island is a nice-sized coney spot, with two big-screen TVs and a huge dessert case. Their waffle fries rocked my world today(I used to eat at Red Robin a lot, just for the waffle fries, but since they eliminated them, I hardly ever go there…), and I largely got a wrap sandwich because the waffle fries come with all wraps. But, I was a little disappointed in my wrap. The wrap itself(lavash?) was so chewy, it was hard to take a bite of the sandwich. Why not use a thin, Middle Eastern-style pita? I got a gyro wrap, and while the meat was tasty, there were way too many onions(and I love raw onions) and not enough sauce. One nice thing: if you happen to be at Crystal Creek(a nearby elder-care facility), they deliver lunch for free. I think I’ll go there on occasion, but I don’t have a burning desire to return soon.

A decent-ish Coney Island that is popular with locals. Some people will actually rave, which I do not get at all. I like it just fine but I am never dying to go here. I do like that they have a cheap breakfast buffet, it is basic items but tasty and of course I can eat all the crispy bacon I want. Dangerous prospect for me but I enjoy it every now and again at any rate. That would be my fave thing in here though. The rest of the offerings are solid, typical fare served by decently friendly competent waitstaff. I have had two salads which I liked, the village(a greek without lettuce) and the Michigan cherry both with chicken. The dressings are decent and I like that they have plenty of size choices as sometimes you need that option. I also liked the chili bowl, filling and cheap for lunch. I have had a gyro and a chicken kebob sandwich and both were decent but not terribly memorable. Like I said, it’s fine but I am not getting the love fest some people have with here.

OK as far as Coney’s go. We go here a lot because it is close. Prices are fair. Wait staff is friendly and prompt. Husband LOVES the breakfast buffet. He claims that the bacon is just right(crispy, fresh — not limp, congealed). We usually go a little later in the AM and I get the chicken finger sandwich(had the best one yet today) and cheese fries(don’t ask… a nasty habit of mine). If you want a clean, quick, decent Coney experience, this is a good place to go.
