I’ve always gone to student hairdressers like Aveda’s because real salons are just too expensive! So I looked at the other reviews and they seemed good, and their prices were reasonable. I made the appointment on thursday at noonish for the same day at 5:15. I got there early and Angela was with another customer. I think the previous person’s cut went past 5:15 by a few minutes, but it’s honestly not a big deal. I’d much rather have someone who caters to each customer instead of trying to churn out as many as possible. They also have a snack tray! The usual vending machine stuff, each item is 1 dollar. I was hungry after work so that was great. I asked for a cup of water and Angela went and got it from the back for me, which was nice. The haircut experience itself was great, the usual shampoo and conditioner. Very relaxing. Angela has the small talk thing down too, not too much not too little. She never tried to sell me anything, and when I asked about some products she was using(a mousse and hair protectant) she told me why she liked them instead of just touting the brand name. My hair definitely didn’t feel like it had too much product on it either. I love the cut, and it’s exactly what I wanted. I have type 1a hair and need volume on top so I went from the past shoulder length hair(covered my boobs length lol) to just below the shoulder, so that when it’s curled it looks almost bob-ish. First she took off the length, then put in my very long bang,(which looked great) and then blow dryed. She does layers and texture after the hair is dry which I like since you can see exactly how the hair will fall when it’s dry. I am picky and I have a lot of hair, so I don’t like the super thick ends that I sometimes get. It makes it look chunky at the bottom, like I’m 5 years old. So I asked her to take off more and she used a technique she called ‘shattering’. It’s perfect, my thick hair is so much more manageable and it looks amazing. It has the perfect texture and length. Angela also explained what to say if I happen to go to another stylist instead of her(taking off the hair via ‘shattering’ can only be done every other cut or else the ends will get all wispy and weird) I have never had a stylist tell me what to do or not to do if I go to another salon. Angela obviously truly cares about her customer’s satisfaction. It was a slow day, she told me Thursdays are generally slow, so go then if you can. I liked being the only customer there, kindof like I was a celeb or something haha. I’m a student(22 normally) and it was my first time there(5 off) so I got both discounts, and it ended up being 17 dollars. Only 2 more than the crappy Aveda student place and even the usual student price of 22 is still really good. It took maybe 45 minutes even with my extra layers and stuff I requested at the end, so much faster than before. If you’re looking for a great reasonably priced salon go here!!!(This is coming from a cheap person) I honestly can’t wait to come back, haha. I will go to Angela as long as I have hair on my head.

Been here twice and each time it was exactly what I wanted in a haircut. The two separate ladies that did my hair each time(can’t remember the first one’s name, but the second was Angela, the owner) weren’t afraid to take off as much hair as they needed to remove split ends while still keeping the length since I’m growing it out. The styling was perfect, the layers were perfect and they never tried to sell me any products I didn’t need. Overall, the price is right and it’s right near my work.

Even though they are a salon, they did a great job on my(mens) haircut too. The price is not expensive either.

Genesis is a wonderful small salon. There are some really fantastic girls that work here that all do a wonderful job. I get my hair cut by Angela(the owner) and I have NEVER had an issue. Not only does she do a great job, her prices are incredibly cheap compared to other main stream salons.
