Visited Giovanni’s the other day and had a fine experience. I guess, it just didn’t live up to the 5-​star standards for me…
First, I should say how great the location is. It’s conveniently located in Canton center, across from the Walgreens Plaza. There is parking on street, and in the plaza.
Next, I should say why it IS a great ice cream parlor to visit. It’s clean, has a good seating area, and friendly staff. They also have tons of italian ice (and ice cream, of course).
What I didn’t like was that the prices and portions aren’t nearly as superior to other spots in the area (including Daddy’s Dairy in Stoughton and Furlong’s in Norwood), for this being not a «high class» area. Overall, though, good service, good ice cream, and nice seating area (and a good spot to stop in Canton center), just not as good as some other places. 4 stars.

Rain and ice cream? Yes! We tried almost every flavor and the guy behind the counter was so patient with us! After we settled on the strawberry (with real strawberries mind you) and the chocolate fudge we left happy and full of sugar :)

I love this place and the people who own and run it, and, oh, the ice cream!
I live in Los Angeles. I wanted to arrange a special treat for family member who is in Massachusetts and near Canton. So, two years after I lasted visited Giovanni’s (see my other review), I thought to call them to see if they could help with this special occasion. They were happy to help.
Joey went out of his way to accommodate me. He took care of all the arrangements and everything went off perfectly — not to mention that everyone loved the ice cream — each and every one of the many flavors served.
If I lived nearby, I’d be there everyday.

Fantastic Ice Cream! There are so many different options for flavors. I personally love the Pistachio and the Chocolate Peanut Butter. I am looking forward to trying the italian ice, because it looks great!

Adorable family owned business that is ideally located near Takara’s sushi restaurant. The store owner was kind enough to serve my friends and I after closing hours. Green monster ice cream and the cookies n’ cream ice cream cupcake were A-​mazing!

This is the perfect spot to stop by for a post dinner frozen treat. It has a homey and comfortable vibe. The type of place where if you go more than once they would remember your order. The staff is very friendly and can help you if you feel overwhelmed by there 20+ ice cream flavors. I pigged out on the ice cream so I can’t say much about the other items but there menu is quite extensive including ice cream filled canolis and ice cream cakes. As for the ice cream, I had scoops of the green monster, moose tracks, coffee ice cream with fudge, and the seasonal pumpkin. All of them were rich and creamy and will satisfy any sweet tooth no matter what your ice cream preference is. Nice to know that ice cream is also locally made in MA.

I used to live near Giovanni’s and loved it. Great ice cream along with Italian ice and other little goodies. The owner and employees are really nice. They even had NFL Sunday ticket on their TV!

Went here the other night for a friend’s birthday. We got there at 8:58 and they close at 9:00. The woman let us come in and was very friend. The ice cream was delicious and they have a large selection of flavours. I would definitely recommend giovannis and come back here again.

Hands down the best ice cream joint in the area.
First off, they only sell the really really good stuff. That alone makes it worth a trip. The flavor selection goes way beyond most places, and they’ll let you try whatever you want until you figure out which one (s) you’re getting. I never knew I had a thing for strawberry cheesecake ice cream until Giovanni’s.
Everything else is first-​class. Italian ice flavors beyond anything I’ve ever seen, frozen yogurt, frappes, floats, and chipwiches made with homemade chocolate chip cookies. Killer place all around.
Last, but not least, the family that owns the place is wonderful. They’re a delight!
If you’re in the area you have to stop by!

Walking in, you’re greeted by:
1) A full display of candy and cupcakes
2) A wall chock-​full of ice cream, fro yo, and italian ice flavors
3) A big screen TV where parents can keep up to date on their fave sporting event while junior spills ice cream all over themselves
All in all, a great ice cream parlor with fast and friendly service. The counter looks small but then you look up at the wall you realize there are a TON of other flavors. Highly, highly recommend the Totally Turtle, which I haven’t seen in too many other places but is absolutely delish. They also had baked goods and ice cream cakes (would it be weird to get an ice cream cake over pie for Thanksgiving?). Plenty of seating so we sat and relished our cones for a bit, and saw a steady stream of families and locals stop by for scoops. Will need to try one of their frappes next…

We are staying in town so my husband can run in the Boston Half Marathon. We had just finished dinner and wanted to pick up a treat for our 3 boys to have back at the hotel. I googled ice cream nearby and found this place was a block from where we were parked from dinner!
We were excited to see that they sold Richardson’s Ice Cream so we walked up and went inside. It was clean and inviting and the lady who came out to take our order was super friendly. We chatted about ice cream, my crazy boys running around her seating area and the downtown Canton area.
I will almost always give a place 5 stars on Unilocal for superb customer service! We will definitely remember this place for next year!
