Food was delicious. Chips were the best I’ve had. Everything tasted authentic and the shrimp cocktail was very tasty. Coffee was good. Only thing, it did take forever to get our food and it wasn’t hot. Seemed to only have one person cooking. I would definitely go back because they are very friendly and food is worth it. They could improve on getting the food out. Seemed like 30 to 45 minutes of waiting for our plates.

Had high hopes for this place. The only thing that was deliciously delivered was the visual looks. The food tasted mediocre. The burrito mojado reminded me of something i ate in my childhood… Chef Boyardee sause. All in all, they claim«Authentic», however this was mexican food made by a person/people that prob either haven’t been to Mexico or are trying too hard to figure it out on their own. I hope to come back in a couple of years once i see more positive reviews.

Every time I go here I wonder why! Smallest over priced portion I get in town … Smallest breakfast burritos for 8 bucks … there are two places close by that are way above this… maybe the bakery is good but this restaurant is horrible

The food is good but the BREAD, is harder than a rock it is not fresh baked every morning and they leave the bread in a glass cabinet even over night. Bread needs to be sealed to preserve freshness. Its not only happened once, but plenty times.

We had a party this weekend and the food was amazing!!! My guests loved it! I’m so very happy that we decided on La Tradicion for catering the food at our party. Mario was very helpful, polite, friendly, explained portions in detail and came early to set up the tables and chaffing dishes. He came back with the food just before the party. It was delish! All night I heard how good the carne asada was for the tacos, so much so we didn’t have any left… Next time I will order a double tray. We’ve had their food at friends parties but I’ve never been to their restaurant before. Not sure about a few of the 1star reviews in 2014, because in 2015 their food was fresh and very good… We had cheese enchiladas, chicken fajitas, carne asada, chicken mole, rice & beans, fresh tortillas, variety of salsas, guacamole, fresh chips and onions and cilantro. I will definitely use them again for parties and try a several new menu items when I do… they have fresh, authentic Mexican food!

They have fresh baked pan too!!!

This restaurant is no good. It is lucky this restaurant even got a star. They need to change the menu completely or close their business. The food taste like it was from a can. Another, bad Mexican restaurant in SV. I want some real Mexican food oh where can that be?

I’m shocked once again how awful another restaurant can be in SC and have 5 star reviews when it should be out of business. Everything we got tasted out of a can. DISGUSTING is best to describe the red sauce(out of a can) enchiladas or the green chile verde chunks of carnitas full of fat, some chunks were just fat! DISGUSTING! Please listen to me Claritinians, stop giving good reviews for awful restaurants in the SC Valley. Btw, don’t name your restaurant La Tradicion when there is nothing traditional about the food you serve. The Real Foodie

This place was really great! Fresh ingredients and good size portions, very authentic. It’s a mom and pop shop that takes pride in their food. Don’t forget to grab one of the freshly baked pastries on your way out!

I really wanted to like this place after reading the reviews. Service is really bad. One waiter who I think was the manager as well to wait all 7 tables was ridiculous. Food was good, nothing great and it took forever to get served to us. The reason for the visit was my family and I really wanted some chavelas and of course Mexican restaurants serve em but we were disappointed with them. Very bland and simple. We were never asked for refills either.

Really nice people who run this place. Mexican food here is fresh and authentic… kind of like going to someone’s home and them cooking for you.

This small but clean and comfortable venue is located directly on Soledad Canyon Road just East of Sierra Highway in Canyon Country. The owners are gracious and friendly offering the diner a touch of Mexican atmosphere and ambiance. I’ve eaten there a few times and each meal was presented well, the right temperature and looking much like the photos you’ll find on their menu. I find I like their breakfast items best and they brew a really good pot of coffee. Their large variety of bakery items are in a windowed case inside. I’ve had their strudel that was exceptional! I always park in the lot on the side and will return both for Mario’s hospitality, Maribella’s smile and a truly delicious dish!

Hot food with fresh ingredients… Friendly service… Just the way I like it. They catered the food & dessert for a party at my house… a group of 25 friends. No special occasion, just a party. For $ 300 I got 3 entres(chicken enchilladas, pork in chile verde sauce, and chicken & beef fajitas), a big tin of refried beans, a tin of rice, a tin of salad with toppings, dressing, enough hot fresh tortilla chips for 100 people, salsas, pico, guacamole, corn tortillas, and a variety of 25 sweet breads for dessert. They have a little bakery set up there so if you go for lunch or dinner. you can shop the glass enclosure bakery area for a dessert. We did not want a server there, so we opted to just have the food set up in our kitchen for our guests to help themselves. The guy showed up, set up the heated pans and food. He was was very friendly(the owner I think). They did not supply silverware, plates or napkins(thankfully I had stuff on hand). I assume they supply these things if you get the full service catering. Anyway, the food was delicious!!! Nothing canned… all fresh chopped ingredients in everything! My guests loved everything. The pastries were wonderful. We went to the restaurant the following morning for a hangover breakfast and we had juevos & machaca, juevos & chorizo, and menudo. All of the food was piping hot & fresh. Because it’s made fresh to order, do plan on waiting at least 20 minutes or so for your food after ordering. Definately worth the wait though!!!

I was in a «walking to dinner» mood and remembered this place. I carefully walked my way down there and crossed Soledad, and entered their front door. Not aware of the procedure, I picked up a menu, and looked up at the board. The guy behind the counter asked me to sit at a table, which I did. I perused the very nice takeout menu and decided upon the Carne Asada Chimichanga Burrito. The guy behind the counter came over with a basket of chips and salsa. The chips were thick and looked home-made. They were crispy and warm and tasty, even without the salsa. I pointed to the burrito on the menu, and the guy said I could keep the menu. I’m not gonna lie, this is a very nice takeout menu. Very high quality. I ate chips for a while, eventually running out and having another basket brought to me. They were good. My burrito came out after I emptied the chip basket the second time. I dug into the burrito. It was a massive beast of a burrito, and it was surrounded by a lake of sauce. It was a decent burrito. Fried crispy, and the sauce had soaked into it. Next time I can scale down the size of the burrito and go for one of the smaller ones. I was so very very full when I stood up to pay and head home. I was grateful for the fact that I had walked there, and that the massive quantities of food I had consumed would have time and motion to settle and calm down a little bit while I walked. The bill was about $ 14 after tax & tip. I was tempted to order a desert from their pastry case, but I was so full I feared I would burst if I ate anything else. Their deserts did look very tasty. Maybe I’ll order from there some other day. So all in all, it was fairly cheap, massive burrito, and the service was OK. They’ve got a fairly good assortment of Mexican baked goods which look great. I’ll probably be back at some time.

Shockingly authentic regional Mexican cuisine on the far side of Santa Clarita. Tacos de Cochinita Pibil like it’s prepared in Cancun? Chile de Nogada as you’d find it in Puebla? Sincronizadas? Hard to believe this is all just up the 14 from the latest Chipotle, but it’s true.
