Remy is a french(adults only) dining establishment on the Disney Fantasy that is based on the Disny/Pixar film Ratatouille. You can see Remy(the character in the movie) all over the restaurant. We were able to get dinner reservation, and dessert tasting reservation before our cruise, and almost didn’t get champagne brunch reservations as they were already fully booked. I really wanted the brunch reservation so I was pretty bummed out. One of the first things my SIL did when we boarded the Fantasy she tried to get that brunch reservation for us or to get on the list for any cancellations. That evening we received news that we got a reservation so we were all really excited for our Sunday brunch. BRUNCH: The brunch was one of the best brunches I’ve had! They started with us going into the wine room to have apéritif which consisted a glass of champagne and some really awesome Jamón Iberico. The Chef walked us through what we will be having and the Sommelier talked about the types of champagne they will be serving for our courses. Once we were seated they started us off with some brioche truffle bread and butter from france. Everything was orchestrated synced when our plates were served. To make it short our 5 course meal exceeded my expectation. DINNER: Dinner at Remys was also a great experience. The staff and sommelier continued that great service the way we had at Brunch. We were seated inside the wine room which made it a more special experience in my opinion. They even provided us a small ottoman chair between my SIL and I to put our belongings. For Dinner they offered two set menus. One French and one American. You were able to swap a course between the two menus which is what most of us did since we wanted both. It was very hard to choose because we wanted everything. I’ve been to a few 3 Micheline star restaurants and I’m sorry to say(not so sorry), but this food experience was better than Thomas Keller’s TFL. DESSERTTASTING: Also known as Pompidou’s Patisseries Dessert Experience. This was 6 delightful desserts which some us had wine pairings with. Which I didn’t because sailing and alcohol didn’t work very well for me. Service with this visit was just like the other visits. Desserts themselves were pretty good. I really enjoyed the Louis XV Chocolate Praline. Think kit kat bar but heightened to a whole fancy level. Crunchy praline topped with milk chocolate mousse and coated with dark chocolate ganache topped with edible gold leaves. It was divine. If you ever plan to go on a Disney(Dream or Fantasy) cruise I highly suggest booking yourself an experience at Remy and book as soon as you can because reservations are booked quickly.

**THISREVIEWISFORTHEDISNEYDREAMSAILING** If you’re looking for fine dining on your Disney cruise vacation, then Remy is it. We made our reservations well in advance, though from your stateroom you can call to make reservations. The chefs come on board to rotate the menu every so often; there are two… a French chef who has earned 3 michelin stars, and an American chef of the famed Victoria & Albert’s with 5 diamond accolades. When you dine here, you can choose from either the French or American menu. We opted for the French menu. It’s a more subtle tasting, versus the American menu which gets a little more creative with flavors. There are a few«surprises» tucked in throughout the meal, so if you don’t want a spoiler then don’t read on :) –Amuse bouche — a small fried tomato bisque fritter. It’s one bite and tasty, but honestly the crust was a little thick and didn’t feel very fine dining. Cute in theory, but a little heavy handed. Foie gras foam — very yummy! –First course: scallop — absolutely fantastic. This is the epitome of fine dining. Texture, bitter, sweet, crunch, etc. all on one plate. One of our favorite dishes. On par with fine dining restaurants you would find in New York. –Second course: lobster — another favorite. Blanched so it was very soft and tender, and so much goodness on a plate. –Third course: halibut — disappointment. My husband’s dish was seasoned properly, but mine was a salt lick. This was just OK to me. –Fourth course: duck and kobe beef — both very tasty and well executed. –Dessert: chocolate — a fine dining kit kat. This was very heavy and I was looking forward to a lighter chocolate dessert than this at the end of a meal. It was good in flavor but very dense. –Non-alcoholic cocktail — instead of the free champagne, they crafted this amazing pomegranate/green tea concoction. I was disappointed with the cocktails throughout the cruise(they were either overly carbonated/sweet) but this was my first taste of a TRUE yummy cocktail. It was amazingly done! –Tarts — We were so full and asked if we could take these home, but because of the temperature we had to eat it there. I’m glad they said that because I pretty much developed a second stomach for these. They were light, creamy and not heavy like they look. Definitely worth eating! –Chocolates — All very tasty, and you get a take home box of truffles. –Coffee/tea selection — high quality, all very amazing. –Cheese selection — delicious. They were all a little similar in taste profiles, especially the soft ones from Normandy, but all very high quality. Overall, this gave us the elegant, fine dining experience we were craving for a date night alone. It is not mind blowing food, but it was executed very well with the exception of one dish’s error. Customer service is really good… it was a little slow in the beginning but once we got to the second course they sped things up and started to match our pace. Because this is a cruise restaurant, the tables are a little closer together so you hear the same scripts repeated next to you. The chefs also came out staggered to say hello and ask how it was, so you saw them popping up at tables every so often – again, a spacing issue due to cruising. Expect to dine there about 2 hours for fast eaters.

I made a reservation on my bday while traveling on Disney Fantasy. I knew this would become my ultimate fine dining experience. I’ve tried a few Michelin rated French restaurants in NYC even thought have not yet tried Daniel and Per Se, but Remy totally blew me away. My parent really enjoyed the whole dining experience as well. We were lucky to have Julien to serve. He made Collette for us to start off the meal. That was a very refreshing drink: cassis pearl, grand mariner, grey goose and champagne. Then we had amuse-bouche: tomato soup wrapped into a fried dough which was so amazing… once you took a bite, the fried dough burst open and the tomato soup flow into your mouth… I had something similar called hush puppies @ Atera which were nothing to compare with this. Foie gras foam with Caramel on the bottom: to maximize the flavor, Julien instructed us to enjoy it from the bottom to the top. I never like foie gras and didn’t understand why ppl consider it as a delicacy because it’s just too rich for me. But Remy Chefs did it again… I love love love it so much and almost wanted to order another one. I can go on and on about my Remy experience but I think I should stop. Overall, the dishes were unbelievable delicious and the desserts… no words could describe how amazing they were. I really admire the chefs @ Remy and thank you for creating those amazing dishes.

Remy dinner was quite exquisite — probably one of the fancier places we’ve dined at(and for sure on the seas since the only other would be Palo). The waitstaff seemed to be amused by us, as we ordered 95% of what was on the menu(and we’re small people LOL). I ordered the ‘American’ based menu and my wife ordered the ‘French’ based menu. Portions, as expected, were small but service was great and they kept the food coming. We felt somewhat out of place since this place caters to fine diners and we are not; at least, the two couples seated next to us were talking as if they were part of the 1%… *rolls eyes* The chef also came out to greet us towards the end, which was very nice, and he also poked fun at us for almost ordering the entire menu. I bet they would have been really happy if we ordered the entire WINE menu. On that note, the sommelier came out and made some suggestions — his accent was so indiscernible that my wife, who usually can pickup on heavy accents, couldn’t even understand him. Anyway, we just ordered a glass of sparkling champagne — his body language seemed to indicate to us that we were just wasting his time, so that’s probably the only thing I’d have a complaint about regarding Remy. All in all, even though the posh dining isn’t really our thing, I think it was good to experience something different. Would I do it again(like the couple next to us who said they’d be returning another night and were excited especially for the chef’s foie gras special and another bottle of their favorite expensive red wine)? Nahhh, probably not… but perhaps Palo, on the other hand… :D NOTE: Remy’s menu items are designed and inspired by both an American chef and a French chef. However, I’m pretty certain neither are present on the ship at any given time(plus, how is that possible when there is a Remy on the Dream AND the Fantasy?). There is a head chef who cooks all or most of the items on the menu and I’m sure there he has a team of chefs under him in the back. Anyway, this may explain the other reviewer’s experience regarding his expectations ala the 2-Michelin-star rating, and the actual food presented.

Remy is one of the fancy schmansy dining restaurants found on the Fantasy ship. I made my reservations far in advance because of the popularity with the executive chef who used to work in a 2 star Michelin restaurant. Some of the staff also worked in other high profile restaurants. Remy has the dining option and a champagne option. Both requires a supplement($ 75 for dinner, $ 50 for brunch). The prices are a pretty good deal since you are getting some high quality service, but then again, you are already paying thousands for being on a Disney cruise. The food and service were great. The ambiance was great. Great views of the ocean from the window tables. They have hundreds of wines including the Cheval Blanc from the Ratatouille movie for $ 25,000. I did opt for the wine pairing at an additional $ 99. This I do not recommend on a future visit. The value of the meal doesn’t allow such a high priced but average wine pairing. I would recommend going by the glass. The champagne brunch was actually pretty fun. In this case, yes, you should opt for the champagne pairing for an additional $ 50. What better way to be slightly inebriated early in the afternoon in your cruise. The food and champagne was quite refreshing. They even give out a nice little presentation prior to the brunch. Again, the ambiance at Remy is great. Although the executive chef came from a 2 star Michelin restaurant, I didn’t feel it for dinner nor the champagne brunch. It’s different from Palo, but still great. You should definitely experience both restaurants to see the difference.
