We stopped by for lunch and hoped to get some oysters. Not in season which the waitress rudely pointed out. We did remain at the place and had ½ lb of steamed shrimp which were good. Onions rings were plentiful and clam strips were good also. Shrimp po boy was good. Had steamed clam that we good except for one. Yuk. Sat on a wet bench but it was nice to sit outside. The locations is great. Limited menu but rude waitress and no oysters mean we won’t be back.

The food was fair, nothing to write home about. Our waiter was nice, but the bartender was a witch! We had to go inside from the deck to ask for silverware and he response of «here, I don’t want you to have to ask again» was not said in a friendly or helpful manner. The time has come for this place to work on updating the infrastructure, the place is rickety and splintery. Most likely not updated in any way since it was built in the 70s. You can’t just go on your view alone. Also, I felt like I was in a night club with the loud, definitely out of place music. Too poppy and hip hoppy. I love both genres, in the proper setting.

Great atmosphere and view. Worth the stop for this dive type spot. The place looks like a nice place to spend an afternoon on the water. We stopped to enjoy a different place to eat as our last stop on a long road trip. We ordered burgers cooked medium with American cheese and fried onions, one of us got fries and the other got onion rings so we could share. We received two burgers cooked well with Swiss cheese. This is a good thing because these were obviously frozen patties. I don’t have a problem with frozen burgers but don’t ask how I want it cooked if it should always be cooked well and also don’t charge as much for it. Aside from this it tasted pretty good and Swiss was fine even though we didn’t order that. The fried onions were deliciously seasoned and the fries and onion rings were fresh, hot and good. The place looked like it needs to be rejuvenated and renovated but it has a lot of potential. There was a bit of trash around the building. Essentially this place could be made into a great spot with a little effort and elbow grease. I would stop back again.

The food was pretty good. Seemed a tad overpriced for quality. It was raining while we were there but seems like a great place to stop for a swim too if you’re passing through. Was kind of concerned when we’re on our way out and the water was not functioning in restrooms(separate building from restaurant but still…)

Like everyone else we stumbled on this little gem while looking for lunch on our way down to the OBX. This bar/grill is perched on a small beach behind a hotel and RV park right north of the Bay Bridge/Tunnel. There is a nice view of the beach and the bridge and a good amount of outside seating. The food was simple bar food, but well executed. The fries were tasty and the fish tacos were satisfying. Not really a place I would look for, but if you’re on the road, stop on by, you won’t be disappointed.

We stumbled upon this place with our twin toddlers driving back from the OBX. We wished that we stopped south of the bridge but it wasn’t in the cards. Once we found it tucked back behind a hotel we were pleased to see there was ample parking. No shade but it’s right on the water which is nice for those that desire that. We made it to the restaurant and walked in and it was brightest dive I had ever seen. The temp outside was 90 degrees(with the humidity and in the direct sun was about 105). Inside it was about 80. The seating inside was either bar height tables with stools or at the bar with tall chairs. Due to the age of our twins we thought the bar chairs would be best. The manager’s response was«really, the small kids at the bar, I don’t think that’s a good idea». In the end the very polite waitress and her trainee brought us two high chairs(standard table height at a bar height table) and the kids stood at the table with us standing behind them. We ordered the food to go as we knew eating there would be impossible. My husband used the ‘outhouse’ style bathroom an chose not to go into the details of the lack of hygiene. We got the kids back to the car spending an average of $ 11.00 on 3 entrees. The fryer oil obviously hadn’t been changed in… ever…so the fries and chicken tenders were horrible. We chose not to give the kids the tenders. And we didn’t even bother to eat our burgers. Very disappointed today.

Just happened on this place during a long road trip and it was awesome. Our kids could run up and down the beach. It was a gorgeous setting. And the food was pretty good! I am so glad we stopped!!!

We stopped at this beach dive on the way south. It’s very convenient, being just off the highway. However, it’s a bit hard to find and you need to find your way past the sketchy hotel. Once you figure it out you’ll be pleased with the view and beachy atmosphere. If you’re looking for formal dining, this is not the place. But if you’re looking for a fun beach bar with a laid back atmosphere and pretty bay view, this is it! As for the food — definitely get the clam strips. They are known for good crab cakes and we definitely enjoyed them, but not the absolute best we’ve had. Stay away from the steamed shrimp. The staff was friendly and helpful. In the end, you go here because it feels like vacation, the view and beach are pretty, and it’s very convenient from Rt 13.

Sunset Grille is most awesome! It is behind Sunset Beach Hotel Resort. It is off RT13 not far from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. What a great place to get some shrimp and have a cold one and walk the beach and enjoy the beautiful view. There are often dolphin to be seen. There is a great pub and deck and fantastic beach on the bayside. Great place to enjoy a sunset. You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to go to the beach grille or beach. Just drive behind the hotel to the parking lot by the beach. Don’t postpone joy — hit this spot soon.(I have stayed at the hotel too and it is not great but is fine for a night when you don’t want to drive after having too much fun at the beach grille).
