My husband and I decided to stop for some dinner on a Saturday night and were in the vicinity of the Good Table. I have been to the Good Table for breakfast(solid), but had not been for dinner in a long time . The parking lot was crowded, although we were able to get a spot and the hostess was super friendly. We got a table pretty quickly, even though the restaurant was hopping with a combination of couples and families. There were interesting specials and a small craft cocktail menu. The craft cocktail list had prices noted as did the menu, but the specials board and the beer/wine list had no prices listed which made for an uncomfortable mystery associated with ordering. Here is what we got: Stella Artois-price?(fine) Craft cocktail with bourbon and cherries $ 10(not good, watery with no flavor) An app of warm brie, baguette and a roasted garlic bulb-price?(very good) I got the gyro platter $ 15(Awesome. Lots of grilled meat, pita, a small side salad and plenty of tzatsiki sauce-yum!) My husband got spaghetti with mussels $ 18(He LOVED it, said it was the highlight of his meal) We split a piece of carrot cake-price?(solid, smallish for two to share) The bill came to $ 64 before tip, so I guess I could figure out the missing prices backward from there??? After we ordered, there was a long wait for drinks. The waitress came over to apologize(she was great!) and then everything we ordered came within the next 3 minutes. The drinks came, in another minute someone delivered the app to the table and then in another minute, our entrees arrived. While it was nice to go from famine to feast, there was clearly some timing issues going on in the kitchen. Overall, It was an ok meal. I can see how the Good Table does so well in that they are located in a residential area where there are not a whole lot of options without driving into Portland. They are definitely experiencing some competition with the relatively new Rudy’s next door, which had a PACKED parking lot and looked way too crowded for walk ins. We live in Portland though, were there are so many stronger options. We just happened to be in the area tonight. Would I return for dinner? Probably not. P. S. The women’s restroom is worth a stop. Check out the pictures!

This place didn’t meet our expectations. We went with a party of nine for breakfast. The waitresses seemed put off and not friendly. The potatoes had a unsavory taste, the coffee was bitter(several people at the table commented on it), the cinnamon roll did not taste nearly as good as it looked, and the corned beef hash was tasteless(a couple of people did like the way it was finely shaved). The temperature in the back room was either too hot or too cold. We were near the space heater and had to keep turning it off and on. Won’t be going back.

Thanks again Lisa for turning our resturant into a magical New Years Eve experience. Glittery, white roses and fabulous menu. Duo oysters were fabulous, crabmeat stuffed shrimp, meaty rack of lamb and pork shank … Even foie gras… everything was delicious! So between being met at the door with a glass of bubbly or sending a bouquet of white roses home with my 91 year old Mom, it was a special night! Thank you See you next year

The Good Table is a place you go if you don’t live locally. If you do live locally you drive right by.

A very worthwhile experience! The service was Wonderful! and The whole staff was so friendly! The food was great! and when i requested an Irish coffee, which was not on the menu they had no trouble accommodating me. If we are ever in that area again we will definetly make a stop!

The Good Table… all pretty darn good! Good friendly, family owned and worked service, good comfortable seating and accommodations(like sitting at the bar though), very good high quality, homemade breakfast which included very good Bloody Mary(hers) and the iced coffee mixed drink(cant remember the name). Started it all off with the gigantic in size and flavor cinnamon roll!!! Worth the trip just for one of those and a drink !! Have been several times, very enjoyable, and affordable. Will definitely be going again.

The location is fantastic!!! One you come in, you have a dining room on your left and a bar area on your right. We went left. This side is obviously meant for breakfast or lunch as it really lacks atmosphere for dinner. Not romantic at all. Put at least some candles at decorations on the table and dim the lights. The service was really nice and attentive. We had«Lisa’s Mezze platter» as a starter, which was a delight! The rest of the food was hit or miss. Unfortunately! The Butternut squash ravioli were way too oily, not sure if it was supposed to be sauce or just a bed of oil… My husband’s Maine fried shrimp were ok, but we didn’t expect the shrimp to be cocktail shrimp size. I wanted to try their pies and went with the apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. The homemade cinnamon ice cream was to die for. So was the pie crust! A little too much cinnamon in the apple pie for my taste. Less cinnamon in the pie would’ve paired better with the cinnamon ice cream. The bummer at the end was that it was obvious that the staff wanted to get out of there. Lights were turned off, cleaning got pretty loud. And it wasn’t even close to their 9pm closing time. That was a little disappointing, as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I’d still come back to try them for breakfast ;)

I would give the breakfast we just finished at The Good Table six stars if I could. The wait staff are very friendly and the food was incredibly fresh and delicious. Quite simply, one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had! We had the giant, fresh out of the oven, cinnamon bun, the Belgian waffle with caramel and cinnamon glazed apple, the crème brûlée French toast, corned beef hash and fresh apple cider.

Homestyle home of big-hearted service, big breakfast, and the biggest cinnamon roll you’ve ever seen. We came here twice in the space of two days. If you’re within driving distance of Cape Elizabeth, I don’t know why you’d go anywhere else. Don’t be dissuaded by the weekend crowds, as things move quickly. And don’t be scared if you don’t immediately see the cinnamon rolls on that sideboard. They appeared on both mornings – eventually. Don’t hesitate, just get that order in before they’re gone. The eggs, the waffles, even the«Bowl of Goodness»(yogurt, fruit, granola) – everything we tried was fresh, delicious, and very reasonably priced. The waitresses can be kind of manic, but unpretentious and efficient. The one mystery is why they serve low-end jam in those little packets. This isn’t a diner and shouldn’t act like one.

Pros: Looks very elegant Cons: Staff is indifferent. Food took forever and service was sporadic to non-existent…we had a party of 8 and our breakfast came out over a 30 minute period… I never received a coffee refill until I asked… asked for Raspberry Pancakes, got Blueberry, my son ordered a coffee roll which came out 30mins after… side order of eggs came out 30 mins later… potatoes were cold. If you are a yuppie or pretentious(picture sweater wrapped around neck) and money ISO object then come right in… if you want excellent food from a staff that care go to a local blue collar diner… and if you have kids, forget it.

I decided to try my first ever lobster roll here. The fries were crispy but the roll was mediocre and not toasted as per the menu states. The lobster was very fishy and almost unbearable to eat near the end. Definitely not worth the $ 18 price tag(which they don’t list unlike other places we visited). The clam chowder was broth based instead of cream based so flavor wise it was alright but they should really specify this on the menu as I have only ever had cream based clam chowder and for the money, it was overpriced. My boyfriend tried the fish and chips and he said it was the worst fish and chips he’s ever had. The fish had absolutely zero flavor to it. Also, service was very slow despite not being incredibly busy. We won’t be eating here again as the food was mediocre and the lobster roll almost had me vomiting. Edit: had a lobster roll that was superior in every way imaginable to this one and was a few dollars cheaper. Won’t be eating here again.

A Seat at the Table While in the area, we were told to try the Good Table for lunch. It was a hit & miss affair. Fish & Chips: local caught haddock, large portion and excellent fries. Tuna wrap: Fair, but, it was tuna. The local deserts looked fabulous with featured fruit from the farm across the street. A mixed effort here, I am sure they can do better.

In my mind, there’s not much better than a good lunch. I want to be able to go somewhere where I can get a good, hearty, healthy meal for a good price. This is what the Good Table does. I can tell where it gets it’s name. The food isn’t out if this world, but it’s good. Dare I say, REALLY good. They have a large array of sandwiches… The pulled pork is excellent and the buffalo chicken wrap and lobster roll are for sure favorites. If this place knows how to do anything really well, it’s the fries. They have regular fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings– all of which are amazing. I’m a huge fan of the Good Table and will continue to frequent, as it’s very close to my workplace. Good food for a good price– you really can’t beat that!

Popped in here for my last meal before heading back home to London. It was a very lively bustling place, filled with Sunday brunchers. The restaurant was a bit warm inside but had a very nice atmosphere aside from that. They had a nice big patio in the back which was unfortunately full, but would have been a nice place to eat. I was excited to hear they offered sweet potato fries, something I have had trouble finding in the UK, so I was happy as a clam to get them for my final American meal. I had the fish sandwich which was very tasty. The fish was piping hot and the fries were everything I had hoped for. I wish they would have had a few more vegetable side dishes besides fries and coleslaw… but overall I was content. I wish I had the appetite to order one of the massive cinnamon rolls. I guess that means I will have to go back!

3.5 stars for food itself but 4 stars for the adorable decoration and homey-ness. Kind of the perfect«home» away from home if you want to feel like you’re dining in someones house while chowing down on tasty foods. At around 9:30am on a Saturday, the place was already bustling with patrons. There was no wait for two and we promptly seated ourselves in the indoor back porch area where there was plenty of sun. Maybe it was because we were out in the back, but we were«forgotten» quite a few times. It took a long time to get our orders taken, for coffee refills, and even to get the check, but that also means you get to sit ‘n relax without any pressure. I totally love the freshly baked muffins. THey’ll slice the muffins in half and throw ‘em on the buttered grill for you if that’s what you life. We went for the morning glory muffing — a carrot muffin without the icing. It was light on the carrots and raisins, but still flavorful. My salmon eggs benedict was great, and eggs poached to perfection. Portions were a little on the smaller side, but just enough for someone who isn’t ravenous. Wish I could have gotten a little more breakfast potato, but I also love potatoes. The boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash and was real happy with his dish. Portions were much grander on his plate also. Love the casual, homey atmosphere of this place and will be back for a laid back brunch again. Dinner menu looked more on the fancy side(price-wise). Ordering the Grilled muffin is totally necessary!(They also have gluten free option of a blueberry muffin too!)

My husband and I made reservations here for Valentine’s Day dinner last night. We had pork belly and brussel sprouts for an appetizer. Wow! I never thought I could like brussel sprouts! So good. I felt my bacon wrapped filet and mashed potatoes lacked salt but it was still very good. The desserts though… strawberry tiramisu and chocolate torte. Out of this world! We will definitely be visiting The Good Table again very soon!

Wifey texted on her way home from her overnight shift at the hospital and suggested going to breakfast. Our rule is that whomever invites, pays; so of course I said yes. She suggested The Good Table, as we recently moved to the more immediate area(Higgins Beach). We’d been there before, for lunch, and was not wowed. As noted in other reviews, word-of-mouth would suggest this is a Michelin Star restaurant; and while better than average, it’s not to those standards. That’s not to say that we won’t be back, however. We’d heard that breakfast is the best option here, so we were excited — and not disappointed. Wifey & daughter ordered pancakes(blueberry and chocolate chip, respectively); safe bets anywhere. And they were good — huge & fluffy. Now, I ordered the lobster Benedict. I posted a picture of it to the restaurant’s Unilocal page. It was delicious. Tons of lobster and a rich, lemony Hollandaise that may the best I’ve had in the area. The yolk was nice & runny. I pretty much devoured it like the hungry pig I was(am?). The other breakfast options looked inviting as well, including the banana & walnut pancakes, which I’m told they are famous for. Next Sunday, maybe. Service was friendly; we arrived at 8:15am; soon after opening, so they were not yet too busy — but they did fill up quickly. The sunny front porch looked like a great spot to sit & have a couple cups of coffee, but we had more to do. Again, maybe next Sunday. So we will for sure be returning for breakfast, and maybe dinner eventually(we like to cook dinner at home). Another fun thing about The Good Table — we had Lucky Charms coffee mugs. I posted a photo of mine. Ask for them by name! ;-) OH — as it was Sunday, we did get a cinnamon roll to go — and it was good. The roll itself was better than the icing — tasted too much like regular canned cake icing.

Wonderfully quaint with good food I’d say is somewhat of a fusion of gourmet and homestyle. Desserts are very popular and there’s a reason for that, they’re good. Very, very good. Reservations are difficult to come by most of the time and I have to say that locals who want to visit on the fly are generally out of luck. But that’s par for the course here in Coastal Maine. Overall, a good place, off the beaten path but well worth the trip.

They only serve cinnamon rolls on Sunday. They only serve cinnamon rolls on Sunday. THEYONLYSERVECINNAMONROLLSONSUNDAY! So, if you’ve heard about their infamous cinnamon rolls and are craving one Monday through Saturday, tough luck. Also, they very strictly enforce the breakfast/lunch menu differential(which is important to note because they really do take it very seriously here). Now, why the quiche is ONLY on the lunch menu seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Granted, when we came we were there late enough that they would have served me a piece, but the only option they had available was a meat filled one. Not sure why they didn’t have a vegetarian option, as well — that’s a whole demographic that isn’t being catered to(and, let’s face it, quiche is not that hard to make or whip together). In the end, seriously let down by my choices, I went with the«tasty homefries»(that’s how they were listed), and the Belgian waffles topped with blueberries and an almond-ginger butter. 1) The«tasty homefries»: falsely advertised, my friends. They were generic at best. Each potato chunk(best way to describe how they were cut) was different sized, there was no seasoning whatsoever(side note: the salt was CAKED inside the lid, so it wouldn’t come out — kinda gross), and they were a little on the greasy side. 2) The Belgian waffles: I admit, the waffles were totally and utterly perfect, but the almond-ginger butter was weak in flavor. I couldn’t taste any almond or ginger(as a ginger lover I was hoping for some zing) in it. The blueberries were bountiful, though, and I appreciated the summery/Maine feeling to it. But all in all, for now, I’d have to say… «meh, I’ve experienced better». Don’t get me wrong the service and space were both impeccable. The servers were thoughtful, consistent, and patient with my deluge of questions. The atmosphere feels homey yet classy(I positively loved sitting in the screened in room in the back where I could watch the birds at the feeder — if I closed my eyes, I could have been sitting at the kitchen table of my grandparent’s summer home at Sebago like I was ten again — AMAZING!). But, given the(what I personally feel is a serious) lack of quality vegetarian choices, I can’t see myself necessarily coming back here unless it was a Sunday so I could try the cinnamon rolls and I called ahead to see if they had a vegetarian quiche option, too. But then, with so many other brunch options to discover and explore on a Sunday in Portlandtown, its hard to want to come back here until some of those have been eaten at first!

The Good Table is a must try if you are in the area. I have only been for breakfast, but am planning on joining them for dinner one night this summer. The building itself is so cute and homey. The farmers porch welcomes you with planters of fresh flowers and a chalkboard teasing you with their pie of the day. Inside the décor is simple, clean, with a fun vintage flair. At breakfast they always play classic oldies music which creates a nice atmosphere. The restaurant is family owned and many menu items have a Greek flair. The way the owner describes the daily specials makes you want to try a bite of them all. This weekend they were offering French toast made with their famous cinnamon buns. Let’s talk about the cinnamon buns… they are the reason I keep coming back. Only available on Sundays though! We were lucky to have a tray just coming out of the oven as we placed our order upon sitting down. The cinnamon bun arrived in all it’s massive glory, filling the plate. The warm sugary glaze spilling down over the sides and onto the plate. Seeing one coming your way is just as exciting as the first time. After attacking some of the glaze spillage, you cut into the bun and cinnamon steam wafts up and is a total sensory experience. Inside the bun itself are soft raisins and cinnamon swirls. Taking a perfect bite means getting a little bit of the soft doughy center, a crusty edge, and a swirl of sweet glaze. Beyond the cinnamon buns, the rest of the menu is tasty too. To be honest, I’m not a huge breakfast person in general. My husband adores the corned beef hash. Portions are more than generous. I can never even make a dent in my meal after the cinnamon bun! One of my only complaints, and it’s not a big one, is that they have cream on the table in the packaged little cups. I would also love to see some lunch-ish options on the breakfast menu for later weekend dining. All other things aside, that cinnamon bun is what will keep me coming back again and again. On a past visit, I heard the owner talking about how they source ingredients from a local farm. The friendly staff, locally farmed ingredients, and relaxed but classy atmosphere make The Good Table a Maine staple!
