White Castle

Stopped here in the middle of a long drive. Feel the need to review this because there is really no excuse for how bad the service and food were. We ordered: 3 chicken breast with cheese sandwiches, 1 small french fries, 1 small onion rings, 1 chocolate shake and 1 water for here. We received: 2 chicken breast with cheese sandwiches, 2 regular burger sliders, 1 small french fries, 1 small onion rings, 1 chocolate shake and 1 water to go. We were the only people in the place on a Sunday afternoon. All the food was cold and greasy and it took 10 minutes to get this order. Fast food wasn’t so fast. Get it together.

Haven’t eaten here in years. I’m a breakfast person. I have to eat in the morning. I was busy out working and I guess their relatively new breakfast advertising got the best of me. I went through the drive through and ordered a little combo. Two sausage egg and cheese sandwiches, potatoes and coffee. A little more expensive than I thought it would be but still in line with other fast food breakfast places.
I think it was actually made fresh. I like the fact that on the little sandwich they actually fry a whole egg and put on it. Not sure you can get this anywhere else in fast food. I should have just ordered one sandwich, it was very sufficient. Potatoes were hot and decent.
I was a little impressed with the job that they did. They had a great drive through girl working as well. Great quick fast food experience.

This is the worst White Castle I have been in of all my life. I grew in northern Illinois. Started eating them when I was about 4 in 1950. Bad

The elvish scum of the Panera and Subway Kingdoms have previously gathered to slander the name of our Lord Castle, proclaiming sickening blasphemies of the Baron Slider’s unhealthy content, bitter taste, and cancerous commitments, NONE OF IT IS TRUE I TELL YOU, NOT ONE WORD, TURN BACK AND SLAY YOUR OPPONENTS WITH THE SAME GREASE THAT BURNT DOWN THE FIRST MIGHTY CASTLE MOUNT, AS WAS INSTIGATED BY UNKNOWN FORCES BUT PROBABLY SOMEBODY WHO HATES OUR LORD CASTLE, HIS NAME BE PRAISED!

Closed due to fire a month or so ago (May 2014). There is a condemned sign on the door and my friends in Cape say it is unknown if it will reopen.

This review is based on the cleanliness of the restaurant. This is White Castle. I know exactly the caliber of food served.
My complaint concerns the cleanliness. Being close to the interstate, it is assumed that this is a busy establishment.
The restrooms were unkept, with toilet paper scattered across the floor in both stalls. It also smelled of vomit. The trash can was overflowing from paper towels.
In the dining portion, I found the floors were sticky, that a strange smell lingered and that the tables were only half bussed.
At the drink station, there were lids with pop stains across the counter.
When we arrived, there were only two other families seated. Behind the counter, there were at least two people standing, chatting.
I suggest that, next time, they spend less time chatting and more time straightening their restaurant. After all, for some, this maybe the only impression that one may receive of Cape Girardeau. Would you want travelers to think all of this quaint town is kept in such a dirty, similar manner? Had my children not been «dying» of hunger, and knowing that there is very little between STL and Cape Girardeau, I would’ve left.

This is where you go when your in a hurry and want some sliders. I ate at this place a few dozen times when in the area the service is pretty good. I personally preferred Lyon’s choice (Roast beef place) before it was converted over to White Castle but thats another story. This place is always busy so it must be doing good. I was raised on these sliders not bad but if you are new to them might want to have a few Tums on hand just in case as the grease/​onions can be brutal at times especially late night. They are addictive as their shakes and fries overall not a bad place for your buck. Probably not the healthiest but what else is new? Give em a try.
