It’s really simple. Jerk Chicken and Ting and you all set!!! This place looks a little questionable when you roll up, but it’s SOWORTHTHEDRIVE!!! I’ve eaten here maybe a dozen times and have never been disappointed. In fact, when I visit the area solo, my husband sends me so many texts begging me to bring Jerk Chicken home to him. it’s really that good! The goat curry is also delicious. The service is great, the couple who run the place are super friendly and sweet!

I posted a picture of the menu because I couldn’t find it anywhere online. I’m reviewing a sorta late dinner, 8 and I believe they close at 9. In my mind this is a 3 star experience, but I’m giving an extra star because I’ve never had Jamaican food before so I don’t really have a point of reference and that seems fair. I ordered the Ackee and salt fish. It was Meh, not a lot of flavor, but nothing really wrong with it. It also comes with rice and peas some steamed veggies in a butter sauce and a fried plantain. Nothing was bad, but nothing was super good. I did get the feeling that the rice especially had been sitting quite a while and suspect my main dish had been as well. I think its very likely the meals are prepared in large batches for lunch and I feel like a lunch time experience would be much better given the reviews other Unilocalers have left. The big plusses for me are, the owners are in the kitchen, it’s a lot different than the other offerings in the area and a large unique selection of Jamaican soft drinks. Give it a shot of you’re passing by for lunch, skip it for the evening meal.

Awesome pork plate with fresh veggies and sweet plantain. All meats are smoked on the outside cooker. Pass on by Flos and enjoy some good food on Route 1

Ok some important things to keep in mind. This is not a restaurant as much as a road side stand, but WOW is the food good. If you are on the fence about eating here don’t be.

Had to return here on my most recent trip to Maine. This place was better than before, now that I knew what to expect. I worked my way through six jerk wing dings and one chicken patty. So amazingly good even if it did make me cry from the heat! If you like spicy food, take a break from the lobster overload and give this place a try!

Great location on Rt. 1, just 5 minutes from York Beach and York’s Wild Kingdom Extremely casual, mom & pop, cash only, seasonal, outdoor, soccer balls for the kids to kick around the lawn, reggae music playing on the sound system(Beres Hammond, Freddie McGregor, Etana, Sanchez, etc. — the real thing) Order your food at the window, under a tarp, then carry it out or bring it to a picnic table on the lawn. The owners are originally from Jamaica and slow smoke the jerk chicken and ribs in an authentic«drum pan» grill, getting the meat smokey like it should be. Very friendly, fun people. I don’t understand how people drive by this place, especially if they are hungry. Makes no sense to me. I have to stop every time I drive by. No exceptions.

It’s kind of uncommon to find Jamaican food in New England, so it’s nice that this place is around. It’s just a roadside stand, nothing super fancy. The people working there are nice. The jerk food(chicken, ribs, and pork) is flavorful. They do go easy on the spice, I’ve noticed, but that did not stop it from tasting good. I was happy that they had Ting, a delicious grapefruit soft drink that can be hard to find in New England. There is outdoor seating, plenty of picnic tables. They sometimes have live reggae. Not a bad place to stop for lunch or dinner if you’re driving up to Ogunquit.

Love this place we got a large order of curry chicken which came with plantain, fresh vegetables rice and beans enough for two people but we also got a beef patty with coco bread delicious perfect meal for two to share and prices are great. I also ordered a TING and coconut water to drink when the live reggae band came on at 6pm I thought I was in Jamaica. Great food, music and people a diverse crowd and I didn’t think I was in Maine at all :) They allow you to BYOB what is there not to love about this place. We were dancing outside listening to live reggae music and eating delicious food. Wish I lived closer I would be here every week.

Stopped by on a whim and were not disappointed. We liked our crispy patties — one chicken & one beef. We also liked the laid back outdoorsy set up with multiple seating areas with subtle lighting. We will go back for the stewed goat, jerk chicken, and LIVE Reggae on Saturday night starting at 5pm!

I have a love for Jamaica and it’s not often I find Jamaican food spots in New England, so I had to give this place a try. It’s in such an unexpected location along route 1, and it will absolutely catch your eye with the native colors. Watch for red, green, and yellow! I have to be honest with you restaurant-seekers, though — Jamaican Jerk Center is not an indoors, classy establishment. Very similar to what I’ve seen in Jamaica, there are a handful of picnic tables, some underneath a canopy and some not. It’s very casual here and you have to be comfortable with that — «A roadside stand» as someone else identified it. In my opinion it’s a good place to grab a quick bite and be on your way. The only time I’ve had food here was during a rain spell, and since there wasn’t any vacant seating under the canopy(others were dining too), I ate in my car. I had the jerk chicken and it was delicious, just as I had hoped. All dinners are served with rice, peas, and plantains, so you get a good serving, but you’re paying a bit for the novelty.

After reading the reviews we had to stop. Best beef patties ever! We ate ours in the car, but had to turn around to go get more 5 mins down the road. They are that good.

The search for good ethnic cuisine continues, and this time we make a pit stop at the Jamaican Jerk Center. I didn’t hold out high hopes, since I’ve noticed that there is an aversion to anything vaguely resembling spicy this far up north. I had the jerk chicken and my boyfriend the jerk pork. While the sauce had some flavor to it, it was not spicy at all, which totally defeats the purpose of jerk. Chicken was also a bit dry, the prices expensive — $ 10 for a small plate? Well, onto the next hole in the wall.

Sitting on a picnic table eating my pattie and drinking Ting, I am almost fooled that I was in Ocho Rios, except for the view of Antique place across Rt 1. Seriously ever since the first time I went to the Jerk center, something about this place so belongs where it is, but at the same time it makes no sense at all between the lobster and fried fish shacks. Anyway I am glad to have this delicious option. The food is delicious and usually plenty to fill two. Our most common meal is a Jerk Chicken plate, and a pattie… or and lets not forget ting! The Ox tail falls of the bone, and the rice and peas are delicious even by them selves. Looking forward to music this summer.

This place is the real deal. Run by Jamaicans and with as much of an island vibe as you can muster in Cape Nedick, ME. We got the jerk chicken, pork and ribs. They were all great. Served in take-out boxes with a side of rice and peas. Unfortunately they were out of plantains when we were there. You eat on picnic tables outside. The drink selection includes Ting(yea!) but no beer. However, there’s a convenience store just down the road the carries Red Stripe. Next time I’m ordering the curried goat…

I went by this place many times and decide to stop once, anticipating it must be good to stay in business for a long time. I ordered the chicken jerk dinner. It came with rice and some kind of salad. the chicken had many bones in it, and it wasn’t nearly as flavorful as I’d hoped. Also, very pricey for a roadside stand, about $ 12 for the dinner I got.

What can I possibly say about this place in order to do it justice? It comes up quick on route 1 in cape neddick on your left… you roll up to a sweet trailer blasting reggae music through enormous, old-school speakers, and jamaican flags everywhere. Comfortable patio furniture sits beneath outdoor awnings if you decide to eat«in». The only plate I ever order is the Jamaican Jerk Chicken entrée. It comes with a large portion of meat, seasoned and steamed cabbage/carrots, and plantains. You can also order a bottle of «Ting», which is a grapefruit soda made in Jamaica. The staff is friendly and quite welcoming. I have been to Jamaica and have had the food there and this is 100% comparable if not, better. Impressive place. Unfortunately, it is only open during the summer as the owners reside in Jamaica for the Fall, Winter, and Spring. It is a great place to stop on your way to Wells, Kennebunkport, Ogunquit, or wherever you are heading on route 1.

Love, love, LOVE this place. The food is great, nice size portions and reasonably priced. The atmosphere, eating/picnic area is inviting and relaxing. If you want an alternative to the«Disney», manufactured atmosphere characterizing surrounding areas, this place is a great option and you will not be disappointed.
