I’ve been waiting for a couple of days to figure out of this was a positive or not so positive review and I still haven’t decided. There are pros and cons to my recent visit to the salon. Cons: * 40 minute wait until my stylist finally got to me. I did call the day before to schedule an appointment, however I didn’t request a specific date or time so I’m not sure why the receptionist would book an appointment without ensuring the stylist will be able to accommodate the client. * poor customer service from both my stylist and the receptionist. Stylist didn’t warmly greet me/introduce herself or apologize for running behind. No education or suggestions about caring for my hair or style. Receptionist didn’t offer a warm greeting or thanks for my business. Overall, neither offered the customer service you’d expect from a business trying to earn your business. Pros: * I walked out with a fly style and have received numerous compliments. Bottom line: I’d go back one more time and try a different stylist.

I visited for the first time today and had my hair done by Ebony. If I had one word to describe my experience it would be FANTASTIC!!! From the booking of the appointment to getting my locs done. I moved to the DMV from GA in June 2012. Due to my reservations in having others do my locs I would go back to GA every 4 – 6 weeks to get my hair done. I had had my hair done by three different locticians in the DMV area. In October/November of 2013 I I went to someone in the Silver Spring area only to be once again disappointed by the service and the style of my hair. I was all set to return to GA in December but received a text from a friend who told me one of her friends got her locs done at Fabulocs and she raved about the service and the stylist. After doing my research(i.e. perusing the the Fabulocs website as well as their FB page) I decided to schedule my appt. My initial appt was for Thursday, December 26th but received a call from Ebony asking if there was anyway I could reschedule for Friday, December 27th. That definitely worked for me! Upon arriving to the salon as I was in «awe» sophistication, décor, etc. Just everything. I was greeted by Ebony within a matter of seconds of my arrival. Within a few minutes I was in her chair and then over to the sink to get my hair washed. Then back in the chair to get my locs twisted. Ebony was courteous to let me know that she may have to stop as she had another client that was under the dryer whose hair she needed to style. Fine with me. Thankfully that lady took a while looking for a style that Ebony was able to finish my maintenenance and get me under the dryer. Ebony is very professional, personable and knowledgable. She told me what I needed to do in between visits to keep my hair from smelling sour since I workout 5 – 6 times a week and sweat in my hair. She told me that I did not need to cut out my loc extensions(which I thought I had too). She explained that loc extensions were intended to loc into your hair and that they did not NEED to be cut. If they grow too long then yes you can cut them but there is not set time to have them in and cut them out. WHAT A RELIEF! She also stated that becasue my loc extensions were thicker than my natural locs that I have my hair interlocked at every other visit. This would help with blending my hair as well as ensuring the loc extensions did not get too heavy to the point of damaging my hair. AWESOME! And the style I LOVE! It was not what I picked out because my hair was not long enough but Ebony did a style that I had been eyeing for some time now! I actually saved the style on Pinterest!!! Ebony was awesome! As soon as I left the shop I called my daughter and my twin telling them I found my April B in the DMV!(April B is my stylist in Atlanta and so far NOONE that I have had tinker in hair has been able to accomplish the shine, sheen and style of April except Ebony!) I am soooo happy that I was referred to Ebony! I now do not have to worry about spending extra money to fly to GA to get my hair done. Ebony is my new April B!

I love love love this hair salon. I went to Aisha and not only did she care well for my hair. She educated me on what I was doing wrong. I really appreciated that.

I have been to Fabulocs twice. The first time was in July 2013. My only complaint about that experience was the scheduling. There was a lot of back and forth, let me call you back(and then not calling back), I’ll let you know, etc. before I could get an appointment. In the end, Lorin was my stylist. I was very happy with her services. I did not wait very long before being seen and she was extremely fast and professional. I got a braided/cornrowed style and kept if for about 2 weeks. It would have stayed longer if my scalp wasn’t so dry. I was extremely unhappy with my second visit to Fabulocs. A friend had her hair done by Asia and told me that they were called«fluffy puffy twists.» So I called in to make an appointment for«fluffy puffy twists.» I called at the end of October and the earliest weekend appointment that I could get was three weeks away. My appointment was at 3pm. I called at 2:50 to say that I was running 15 minutes late. When I arrive, Asia is only half way through with someone’s hair. If I did you the courtesy of letting you know that I was going to be 15 minutes wait, why wouldn’t you give me the same courtesy of letting me know that you would be 45 minutes late? After a 30 minute wait, Asia calls me over to her chair and asks what I am having done. I tell her fluffy puffy twists. She tells me that she no longer does fluffy puffy twists. She had me down for two strand twists. That is not what I asked for when I called in. She directed me to another stylist who does do fluffy puffy twists. That stylists’ earliest weekend appointment was one month away and she insisted that I come at 6:30am. I suggested 9am, she said no. I don’t wake up for work at 6:30am and THEY pay ME. With my time wasted and my hair undone, I left. I do not think that I will be back.

I’ve been getting my son’s locs maintained here for about 2 years now and have had no trouble, but after today i’m done. I hate hate HATE overbooking and a total disregard for my time and that is what I experienced today. I showed up for a 2:00 appt to find another client in the chair with their hair in the beginning stages of getting done. I sat for a few minutes with my two children and then decided to ask the stylist if I should come back. Yes, I had to ask her if I should come back, because she never thought to part her lips and tell me maybe I should come back. So she tells me 3:00…being a Saturday and 2 days before school started, I decided not to start any ruckus– the boy needed his hair done after all! We showed back up at exactly 3:00 and she was not in the shop but the assistant washed my son’s hair and he sat for about 5 minutes until the stylist showed back up. She started his hair and I left for about an hour because thats how long it takes, expecting him to be done when I came back. I arrived back and found him under the dryer with another client in the stylist’s chair. I was aggravated not because he was under the dryer but because the dryer was OFF which means she just had him sitting there while she did another client’s hair… I thought maybe when she was done with that client she would get him, but instead she told the client that was seated to go sit in the waiting area while she got another client from under the dryer and finished her hair and then called the original client back over. SERIOUSLY?! We waited another 20 minutes until she finally decided to get my son from under the dryer, and when she was done with his hair it didn’t look much better than when she had started. His hair is fuzzy, I asked why it looked like that and she said because it needs to be trimmed… maybe i’m wrong here but I could’ve sworn that paying for loc maintenance included trimming his hair, maybe i’m wrong… The stylist has always been so nice and pleasant and I don’t mind the shop, I don’t feel like they have the best customer service, but nobody has ever bothered me and my son’s hair always looks so nice… but this time is a different story: my time was wasted and I am unsatisfied with his hair, we’ll try another place next time.

I’ve been going to Fabulocs for a little of a year now — I go to Ama(1st chair on the left side of the salon). I’ve never met the owner of the salon nor have I had much interaction with the other stylist — so I can’t really comment on them. Ama was referred to me by a close family member that is new to wearing his hair natural. Ama is VERY kind and soft spoken. She listens attentively and I felt she was passionate about natural hair BUT she had personal issues that would interfere with her keeping her appointments, arriving on-time for my scheduled appointment and taking breaks to take a call or send a text message. I wear my hair in twist and every 2 weeks when it would be time to wash and restyle I always felts like the technique she was using to twist my hair — was locking my hair instead. I tried on several attempts to explain to her that my hair shouldn’t be locking in 2 weeks from twist – aggrivation+tiny hair knots=new stylist. Check them out. Maybe you will have a better run there are many stylist to choose from there. **Overall it’s a huge, clean salon, ample parking, off of Central Ave.**

I have been going to this establishment, specifically Lorin for more than 1 year. I went on the recommendation of a friend. I can’t speak highly enough about the salon, but most importantly about Lorin. My first visit was crazy — as I had CUT all of my own hair off. The cut was lop sided and just plain ol funky. Lorin hooked a sista up with a cute short fro and it has since grown healthy and happily since then(this was 10.2010). She’s EXTREMELY professional, creative and just an all around GOODOLE person. Every(yes EVERY) stylist in there is NATURAL. The salon carries and sells its own products, but also utilizes NATURAL products on your hair. I have never had a long wait for Lorin, as a pro — she knows how to accurately schedule an appointment. Check out their website as they offer classes to teach you how to do your own hair and/or how to become a professional stylist. The environment is warm and inviting. Moroever, Lorin accepts checks and the salon accepts credit cards.
