Latta Jewelry is a really great shop, I have several of their pieces in my collection and always have to stop in and look at their new jewelry when I’m in capitola. Omg!!! I’m so excited!!! I just got my wedding ring customed made and today I got to pick it up! I don’t think I’ve ever been in love with any ring I’ve owned more than this one!
I wanted something unique and different. I shopped at two different jewelers shops that were small businesses and specialized in custom made rings. Neither came close to the types of wedding bands I was looking for. The funny thing is, I didn’t really know what I was exactly looking for. As one jeweler put it so poignantly, «Rings are like cars. You have to take them for a test drive before you know which one is right for you.» So, that is how searched. I just kept trying rings on that even remotely caught my eye. I just felt intuitively I would know when I had tried it on. And that’s exactly what happened!!! Atticus and Jay Latta really know their stuff. I felt a special connection the minute I put the ring on. My ring fits me as a person so perfectly.
The only snag was I am allergic reaction to gold. Not a problem! They were able to make another ring with the same design. And here’s the coolest part! I got to pick out my own gem to put in the center! There was a dazzling amount of precious stones to pick from. Since I discovered Princess Di wore a family heirloom that was a blue sapphire, I was relieved and excited to choose a different stone besides diamonds. One blue sapphire stood out from the rest. Oh my goodness, how it’s color takes my breath away! I had no idea there were so many variations or shades of such a beautiful stone.
I was hoping upon hoping that it would all come together. When I saw the finally product, I was speechless!!! Pictures do not give it justice. It just feels to me like the prettiest, most precious ring I’ve ever had an opportunity to own.
And you know what is even more amazing, was I by chance met a man that morning who also had a ring done here at Latta. Unique men’s rings are tough to come by. This was truly one of a kind. The gold part on the outside was melted down from a ring that his wife’s grandmother owned. The middle band was silver and made from a rock that was a meteorite! And three precious stones encircled the entire incredible piece of work with a diamond and two birthstones. My breath was taken away just to see how wonderfully made it was!
So you have a choice of picking what’s there or I’m sure they can help you make up your own design. And the prices are very reasonable. I was relieved that I didn’t have to pay a fortune for the ring that I will be using for my nuptials and wearing everyday of my life! Thank you Latta! You guys are amazing and have made me the happiest girl around to be getting married!!!

Pricey compared to other shops, but value and esthetics FULLY JUSTIFY his prices. Jay Latta is a real artist, with an excellent and very creative eye for design.
We were looking for an engagement ring for my fiancée, and she wanted something that had semi-​precious stones, was simple and elegant in design, but also kind of artsty, something that made a statement. She ended up with a ring with a large aquamarine, large tanzinite, and two small saphires in a unique geometric design, for $ 1,200. Considering the art involved and the quality of the stones, that «statement» that makes a piece unique and the person feels like you really cared to find that perfect piece for her, I consider the price to be very reasonable.
Jay brought a considerably wide array of designs for us to look at: he is very good at both a more traditional look (while still being unique) and very adventurous and artsy. In addition, when it comes time to add a gold wedding band, it custom crafts a thin band that is designed to fit into and complement the unique outline of the engagement ring (and that will be only $ 2 – 300).

The shop is tiny, and not marked real well, but is right next to the «Hot Feet» store on the corner of Capitola and Stockton.
