Wow! Stellar service from two charismatic gentlemen! Very pleased with their ability to fit us into the schedule. They work they do is quick, clean and informative. Grateful for such a great experience!

John was excellent, especially considering we are new to the area and have never used a fireplace or wood burning stove.
He cleaned and inspected the unit while keeping the light carpet clean. He was super friendly and answered all of my questions. I now feel that with his guidance we can safely use the stove once winter hits.

I highly recommend this business. local…owner operated. From first speaking with Karen to schedule the appointment to having John come in to clean the Chimney. We also needed new caskets around the doors… and a couple of new bricks inside the fireplace. Felt very comfortable having John (and his helper Sean) inside my home… very personable, and professional!

John was on time, thorough, professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would recommend his family owned, local business. I was especially impressed with how clean he kept my house, considering what a messy job I was asking him to do! I have white carpet surrounding my wood burning stove, and I swear it was cleaner after he left!

I am so happy to be the 1^st to review The Soot Merchant is a local, owner operated business. I called to have the wood stove in the home that I rent serviced. I was very happy to speak with Karen about the issues with my stove. Karen is highly knowledgeable and was more than patient with my learning curve as a brand new wood stove user. My scheduling needs were accommodated perfectly. John came to perform the cleaning. He was friendly, played with my dogs for a minute and set up to clean bringing in his equipment including protective drop clothes for my flooring. He explained everything he does and let me know it was fine for me to watch. The cost for the highly professional level of service provided to me was very reasonable. On a side note, The Soot Merchant has been the company servicing the stove where I live for many years. I looked on Unilocal and noticed that most chimney sweeps are not local. I highly recommend this local chimney service company.
