Just ordered egg rolls potstickers and general chicken. Eggrolls had a funky almost rancid flavor to them. Potstickers were made in front of us.” As fresh as they get” the dough was undercooked and tough and the filling was flavorless. The frozen ones at Costco have ten times the flavor and softness. The general chicken was WAY to sweet. I’m used to General chicken that has a good orange flavor with spicy accents. This was just a sweet nasty paste. In fact I fed my dog and she threw up.

I’ve been here a few times with friends. The ambience of the place is a bit weird because they have Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai food. What my friends and I have tried are mainly the Vietnamese dishes. I would go for the vermicelli(noodle plate) with beef and shrimp. The plate is a large portion that comes with plenty of beef and about a small amount of shrimp. There is also a ton of veggies that come on the side of the dish. The food itself is very delicious and priced reasonably. On the otherhand, the staff are not very friendly. My last experience here, I asked for extra nuoc mam(fish sauce) for my noodle plate. The elderly women worker yelled for the cashier to come back in Vietnamese because she did not know in English and she did not know that I am Vietnamese. Because of her prejudice, she yelled, «COMEBACKHERE! This girl here is demanding for something.» I thought that was very rude on her part because she said whatever she pleased, thinking I did not know the language. She was shocked when I replied to her asking for extra fish sauce. Even when telling her, she was VERY reluctant to give me more sauce saying that the togo ramekin was enough. This is very stingy on her part because the customer has their own sets of taste, that should not be questioned by no means. The cashier came out and said that the amount he gave should be plenty. The elderly lady then rudely muttered, fine just give HER some. This is negative attitude is what will not bring me back to TJ Express. Three stars for food, minus one for the rude service.

Ok first off I want to clarify that the only reason that I am giving this restaurant 3 stars is because there is not the half option, if there was I would have rated this place a 2.5*. Now I want you all to be aware that I am rating this Chinese take out place from a vegetarian’s point of view. I ordered the chow mein, garlic tofu, & a veggie eggroll and shared with my boyfriend. The place was clean and the cashier was nice, trying to help us out with vegetarian selections.((Be aware if you order from this place you have to have cash because that is all they take here)) After we ordered she boxed up the food and we then sat down to eat. The chow mein here was your good olé run of the mill chow mein, not too greasy but there was also not much flavor. The garlic tofu wasn’t bad, but my boyfriend found it to be a bit too spicy for his taste but I thought it was fine. And as for the eggrolls were the same like any other take out place, however the sweet and sour sauce was tasty and unique, it had a bit of a zip or a tang to it(maybe rice vinegar?) While I would not make a special trip to eat here it was also not completely horrible. Someone who eats meat needs to eat here and review this place to make the review a bit more fair and complete.
