Storage West Self Storage

I have used Storage West for many years and could not be more pleased. The units and hallways are always kept clean; they are well lit and spacious. There is never any funky smell or moldy dampness. The personnel are over the top accommodating, pleasant, and efficient. I have had nothing but good experiences with these folks. They have always been ready to work with me when I wanted to upsize or downsize, always willing to adjust the current month to get me the best price. You will not be sorry if you store your things here.

My wife was leery because of the mixed reviews, but I thought I would check them as we need to put some things in storage for an extended period.
Place was locked up, there was placard that said «we will be back at» with a clock. It was hard to figure out if the time back was supposed to 1:40 or 2:40, but given that it was then 1:50 I was either going to be waiting for 50 minutes or some indeterminate time, neither of which I was willing to do.
Nothing like making a good first (and probably last) impression.

Several months ago storage west, without permission charged my credit card for an extra months rent. They blamed it on «the computer» and said they had a «few issues as of late». I would not leave any cc info on file with these folks.
They apologized but did not offer anything else in way of an apology
Two months ago Storage west made it mandatory to either have a homeowners policy that covered the storage locker OR that make you purchase a policy that just covers the locker at a RIPOFF price.
The local managers are fine the problem is in «corporate».

I was shopping around the Encinitas area looking for storage and read some good things about Storage West. While I didn’t end up renting from them (had another good experience at Encinitas Self Storage off Encinitas Blvd & went w/​them being as they’re closer to work), I did have a great experience.
Brian and the woman behind the desk (his wife?) were super nice and very forthcoming about how the whole process worked. They didn’t hide any fees, and I felt that if I had gone with renting from them that I would have been in good hands.
I recieved a follow up call from them a couple days after I’d decided to pass on renting from them in favor of Encinitas SS. Brian was, again, very friendly, even when I explained that I wouldn’t be renting from him. He even offered a $ 25 coupon if I’d refer someone to them (NOT the reason I’m writing this… I don’t think this counts).
It’s just nice to experience business people who’re pleasant, even when you decide to do business elsewhere. If you’re in or around Cardiff go check them out!

My husband and I have used Storage West for personal and business storage… and we wouldn’t use anyone else. Low cost and good ol fashioned service. They are always there if you need them and very helpful.
