Rancho Coastal Humane Society Thrift Shop

I needed to drop off some clothes and wanted a different option than Goodwill. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. They have a room in the back where you can drop off your goods – super easy. They have incredibly friendly and helpful staff. This place has an assortment of clothes, pictures, furniture, and all kinds of other things. It really is a treasure trove of amazingness. If I had the time, I’d probably be here every weekend just to scope out the new goods.

We are downsizing so we make a ritual of it and drive from Carlsbad, with our donations and the pooches, go to the beach and then drop our donations off at the thrift store. Eager volunteers always greet us to help unload our SUV and provide a donation receipt. We would rather donate and help out the shelter than drag it to a consignment store and only get pennies on the dollar. We know the proceeds go to an excellent charity, one we are passionate about. Stop by and check out all the great finds. They have a good Rancho Santa Fe, Fairbanks ranch and Del Mar donation base, so you can find some good quality items.

This is my favorite thrift store! I always find something good when I come and I love that the proceeds go to the animals.

I love animals and my favorite charities/​non-​profits are always ones that support animals. So if I can shop while supporting a great cause I am 100% for it. RCHSTS has some great finds. I am a huge reader so my favorite items are the books. You can find some awesome recently published books that would normally cost you $ 15 – 25 for only $ 1! Can’t beat that. Might as well stock up since I plan to purchase these same items anyway. You can also score some nice household items and clothing. The employees are super nice and once again, your money goes to a fantastic cause.

Great selection of clothing, household items, books, jewelry, furniture. Well organized, clean, laid back vibe, and the friendliest volunteers. Parking can sometimes be an issue since the store is located one block from Cardiff State Beach and next door to the legendary VG Donut Shop

Amazing finds!
I’ve had this place bookmarked for awhile but didn’t have the opportunity to stop in by myself. I was surprised to find so many quality items that are nearly merchandised-​easy to sort through and find. Everything is priced well, dresses and tops run an average of $ 6 – 12. Shoes are about $ 9 – 15. I found a lot of good quality brands like tahari, bcbg, jones new York, Michael kors, and even a vera Wang dress! Everything is in great condition. You can tell that the employees only put the best quality items out for sale.
They also have a loyalty program where after you make 10 purchases over $ 10 you get a $ 10 gift certificate.

Great service !!! I visit at least twice a week and I always go home happy, good prices I wish you’ll open until 6:00 or 7:00

They have great finds here for good prices, and it all goes to the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
They have a corner for shoes, a corner for clothes, a place for books, a room for furniture, and boxes of postcards and old photos. Pickings can be slim since it all depends on what people choose to donate, but there are some gems too. Beautiful wedding dresses, like new coffee tables, rare books, etc. They sometimes even have discounts on a category (like men’s shoes or women’s jeans), and things just get that much cheaper!

Good furniture selection, wish the clothing section was a bit better! However, it is a thrift shop so can’t be too picky! Do not come here if you are expecting to find designer names, as it is not a consignment store and these finds are a diamond in the rough. Most of the clothing does indeed look used rather than «gently worn». There are a few pieces with price tags still on, but not very much at all. Very small shoe, handbag, and sun glass section as well. I got a beach bunny jacket that is stretched out and does look used, but it was only $ 7 so I couldn’t say no and a few bundles of hangers for only $ 1! Would probably only come back due to the pure fact that all proceeds go to the humane society!!! Who could say no to helping animals?! Shop for a cause!!!

Expand your space, please! I bought 3 bitchin’ pairs of earrings, a little ceramic olive serving dish, and the best ever coffee mug with a rainbow and gold-​lined seagulls on it, all for under 20 bucks. Good deals for quality stuff. Plus, proceeds go to the Humane Society.
The people working here were really friendly, and strangely helpful. I wish this place were closer to home. I’d spend much more time and money here. I’ll be back next time I’m in California!

All of the clothing on the racks was worth looking at. So many thrift shops put out junk for you to weed through. I found 6 items that were all gems without even trying! No holes, no stains. Easy to navigate. Nice neat fitting rooms. Friendly cashier. Great décor for purchase. As a matter if fact, I think I need to go back and buy a little plaque I was eyeballing. And all for a good cause! You can’t beat that! Did I mention the jacket I bought was half off… making it $ 3?! Come on.

Just came back from my first trip there. Staff was definitely pleasant and nice in a way that I would describe as California laid back, I’m willing to chat, sort of way.
The purchases were amazing. Ann Taylor Loft white pants for $ 4, DKNY silk shirt for $ 4, and a cute crop Banana republic cardigan for $ 3. All of which was on «sale» and had been marked down. And now on Monday’s you save an extra 50% off of already marked down items so those were $ 2s and $ 1.50.
Just a tip: make sure you look at the care instructions. The items I got I later realized were dry clean only, so that’s a bit of a bummer on my part. Also, I spotted a Louis Vuitton purse hanging behind the register for sale. Louis Vuitton, seriously!!!

What gets better than this? Great values, good finds (often some brand new), and everything under the sun from sporting goods, housewares, furniture, pet supplies, toys and clothing. And the money goes to support the Rancho Coastal Animal Shelter.
The staff works very hard and is always pleasant to deal with. The manager knows what he’s doing!
This is the best deal in San Diego County!!!

what a great cause! really cool stuff in one of my fav areas of SD county. This area is «cool» without trying, unlike areas south and north that seem to desperately strive to be cool!
Best thing — GREAT shoes and jewelry, lots of stuff w animal themes — go figure. Pricing not the cheapest but reasonable. Their quality makes up for that.
Their shelter up the road is one of the best in the county. My daughter at one point did a volunteer program with them to fullfill her community service requirement. they are nothing but nice and do a great service to the community

This is the best thrift store I’ve ever stepped foot in. I just dropped a few boxes of donations today and if it weren’t already somewhat crowded with shoppers, I would have stayed and most likely enjoyed a little shopping. No moldy or funny smells at all that I could tell and not at all like a thrift store. Some of the stuff for sale were creatively and attractively laid out like a department store. The rest of the store looks organized, neat, and clean, like a real store. It was, for a lack of a better word, impressive.
I saw they had great quality furniture and dining sets as well as fashionable clothes. I was immediately greeted with volunteers who were very friendly and helpful. I came in with a heavy big box and I anticipated I’d have to flag down someone who works there. Not so, in fact, I just stepped inside and two volunteers approached me asking me if I needed help. They actually did all the heavy lifting after that. It was a wonderful experience :) Even other shoppers were pleasant and courteous.
So glad something awesome like this is helping out the shelter. It’s made possible by great volunteers and a great community!

They recently did a remodel of this store and expanded it. Looks like a completely new place if you’ve been there before. The people who work/​volunteer there are always friendly and helpful. There are several rooms of furniture, clothing, pet supplies and so much more. I found the best deal ever of my thrifting days… a cashmere coat from Nieman Marcus that’s to die for. Paid $ 20 for it! The pick up large items which many places don’t. Their proceeds go to support the animal shelter in north county.
If you haven’t been there recently, you’ll be surprised when you see their facelift. After shopping, you can take a walk over to the ocean to view the Cardiff Kook and see what he’s wearing and then to the beach.

Hmmm so why does this place get 5 stars?
Well, let me start off by saying that on my FIRST EVER visit to this place…
I found a pair of AUTHENTIC LOUBOUTIN pumps for $ 9.
Needless, to say that was the highlight of my entire thrifting career. I will probably never be able to top such a find… but we’ll see.
Ok, so aside from the great stuff they have, they also have superb customer service. The people who work/​volunteer here are the nicest, sweetest people ever. I especially like the older guy with longish hair and the sweet old lady there.
