WoW! We can’t wait to go back. Very well put together museum and outdoor exhibits. It’s a great place to stretch your legs between Philadelphia & Pittsburgh on the PA Turnpike.

This review is for the walk around the grounds and exhibits outside. I have seen this place from I81 plenty of times and often wondered what it was about. A co-worker who knows I like to walk and would rather not workout in the hotel recommended this spot as a place for me to go. The dust/gravel packed walkway is very nice. It winds its way through different eras of battlements. You can go down in the trenches of a WW I bunker, see buildings for a mess hall and training barracks from WWII as well as outposts from the civil war. Additionally you will come around to a Vietnam era artillery station and helicopters. There are multiple tanks and cannons as well. The walkway was busy with joggers and dog walkers and there are porta potties, doggie bags and garbage cans a plenty. Additionally, the golf course is next door and there are two spots where you can cross over and join the 2 mile walk around the course as well. I ended up with 4 miles walked and wishing the museum was open.

Full disclosure my brother in law is the curator here. The presentation is so well done. Considerate of children and their parents. Poignantly touching on USA army heroes who have served since the 19th century. Interaction using 21st century technology was spot on. Kudos to Jay and his staff. We were spoiled with a «behind the scenes«tour of the archives. A great memory made this day. Don’t miss the outdoor recreation of WW1 trenches and WW2 bunkers.

This a great, clean, well constructed facility. There are a number things you can do while visiting here. Lets start outside and work our way in. For free you can walk the grounds and go through the tour of our Army’s fighting from the revolution to the more modern day wars. You can walk through a WWI trench, check out a bunker, and see how the soldiers quarters looked. Upon entering you can pick a free«dog tag» to use for traveling through the museum. Depending on the era of your«dog tag» you will find out about your solider and information about what his time in combat would have looked like. There are interactive portions of the museums, from testing the weight of your era’s gun, practicing your salute, a shooting range, and even a parachute simulation encounter. Adults will enjoy the historical information and have some fun as well. Kids will like being able to interact with the displays. Overall this a really well done musuem, don’t forget at the end to see what happens with your soldier, mine died in the fighting of Normandy.
