Service was friendly and quick despite our arrival at nearly 9pm for dinner with 2 kids in tow. Our little guy fell hard for our server, Mary — sweet girl. Food was OK. Chicken wings were delicious. Chicken sandwich and surf and turf tacos were ok… a bit too much oil and not enough flavor for either.

One star is a stretch. The service is questionable at best. I have waited before so long that I have left but have given second chances because they are close to home. This time they were literally understaffed. They had open tables but could not seat us because they could not keep up. The irony is that our server would not say that they were understaffed, he just kept saying it’s not the amount of open tables, it’s the amount of servers… Don’t bother!

What the heck happened?!! I was there on a Wednesday for happy hour. Sat at the bar, bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. Had a few and went to the farmer’s market. Came back for dinner. We both ordered the ROASTED beet salad and added salmon. The salad was terrible! Clearly the cook(can’t call this person a chef) does not know the difference in ROASTED beets and canned, pickled beets. It appeared that we both got about a half cup of greens and they split the can of pickled beets between our plates. The walnuts were huge, could have been chopped smaller. The salmon — small portion, it had good flavor but was overcooked and dry. Our server was friendly but only checked on us once and never offered more beer. We had to track her down for our tab. I usually eat off the happy hour menu in the bar area and have had good service and food. Oh, the salad was $ 20.50! I get mark up but this is not a good value!

Great atmosphere and clean venue. However SUB-PARSERVICE. Definitely a lack of attention to detail with the wait staff here. Our server got my drink order wrong,(totally normal) but on top of that they forgot one of our orders. We understand a busy hours, but the restaurant was way under capacity this evening. By no means this is our servers fault, but her managements due to the fact that this is not our first time here and completely a direct reflection of their leadership and training. Ordered a water 15 minutes ago and STILL waiting.

They charge 2x the price if you order your cocktail as a double. So, a double vodka screwdriver goes from being 8.50 to $ 17. I don’t know know any other bars that price their drinks like that. Also, when we questioned the pricing on our receipt, a super drunk bar patron threatened to beat up my boyfriend and his friend, swearing and getting in their face. The bar manager then just said«oh, don’t mind him. he thinks he’s got my back» instead of kicking the man out. It was a really awful experience, probably one of the worst I have ever had at a restaurant. I will never return here, which sucks because this place has a great beer menu and my boyfriend and I were regulars before this incident. So, if you like having drunk patrons swear at you and being over charged, then this is the bar for you to visit. Otherwise, there’s nicer places in Carlsbad Village to spend your money at.

A sports pub with a great beer & whisky selection and friendly service. On their own those things deserve 5 stars. The bar is great for watching sports, not that I personally care much about that. Plenty of large tvs at a very long bar. One half of the enormous bar has been covered with chalk board so that you can doodle with chalk board markers while you wait for your drink. They have a large California beer selection on tap, including non-standard selections like whiskey barrel, sour and sometimes a barley wine. As an example, Anderson Valley’s bourbon barrel-aged beer is one of their standards that is almost always on tap. Every one of the 40 or 50 beers on tap is listed on the regularly-updated beer menu along with its style and alcohol content. Speaking of whiskey, they have a large selection of that, too. I’m not sure how large the wine selection is but I have heard wine drinkers complain about the high prices. The food is also pricey for the area but it is pretty good. For example, a watermelon & spinach salad is $ 12.50 and then they charge an additional $ 6 for chicken, $ 8 for salmon, or $ 10 for ahi. They don’t serve breakfast/brunch and they usually only have one or two desert options of average quality, so not a great desert place. You can view the menu at Also of note: They have a side room that can be reserved/rented for special events. They have a large parking lot as well as bike parking. The large, outdoor patio is dog-friendly. Rather than use the AC they simply open up the garage door windows on the walls and let the fresh breeze blow through. The bar closes at midnight.

Nick, the manager, stepped up to the plate last week and accommodated our group of thirty people without much notice. Nick set up tables in the private back room for us, and with the help of only one other person, took all our orders and served them efficiently and quickly. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely, and the food was delicious. I will come back to this restaurant for sure. Thank you, Nick.

Overpriced food was average. Good beer selection, but so do most places in Carlsbad. Will not be returning.

This was the first stop on our Unilocal badge hunting adventure! It happened to be memorial day so they had a band playing outside and a special on Mai Tais! I have been to 83° several times, and it’s always been the same during every visit. They have a great selection of beers, in fact their beer menu is longer than the food menu. Ashley and I ordered the fruity beverage special. The tropical taste was refreshing on this cloudy May day. We also had sweet potato fries. The portion size was generous, and we ordered several dipping sauces. The waitress was somewhat absent during our stay, but she did correct the error on our bill in the end. If you’re looking for a great beer selection and a good time with friends, stop by this local establishment.

Stop one for Badge Night venture! They are very large on the inside and have a pretty huge patio where there was a live band playing. 83 Degrees is bare roots and nothing fancy. It’s not like the typical new bars, breweries, or gastro pubs we are surrounded by. They have a drink menu that is longer than their food menu! We ordered a drink each and shared some sweet potato fries to kick off our night. Both were good choices! Nothing fancy but a good drumroll start.

I come here often during the later afternoon when it’s not too busy and usually order the same thing every time. Their Chipotle chicken sandwich is simply amazing.(Add tomatoes + avocados and you’ve made it to heaven! lol) Also, Ask for NOSALT on the French fries. The Fries tend to be a bit too salty, overcooked, a maybe a couple hours old from time to time so asking for NOSALT insures you get a FRESH batch every time. The drinks DO take several minutes to order but since I’m a beast, I usually order two at a time to save everyone time and effort haha Their spicy bloody Mary’s are decent. Beer is always a failsafe with many selections. Burgers are great too. Staff is super chill and accommodating to me specific OCD requests lol, and when they do not deliver, they mend the situation in a timely manner. I was really surprised this place actually got 3⁄5 stars. I haven’t had a bad server yet! **knocks on wood

Thank you manager Nick and server Leanna for making our birthday celebration wonderful. Nick let us use and decorate the private back room for our party. He set up our tables how we wanted, gave us table cloths and just made the room lovely and inviting. Our server Leanna handled our 13 person party with ease and grace. Also, the food was perfect. YUMMMMM I personally had the watermelon salad with salmon and half of my moms sweet potato fries. I would have another party here in an instant and I will come back here to eat. …and do yourself a favor and get the fried pickles. Holy crap.

If you are not a beer lover you won’t find anything special here. Menu is very limited and there’s only a huge list of beers. Food is good but not great.

Great spot for a casual lunch or a drink after work! I really like the flatbreads, the wine selection is great, and I like the relaxed atmosphere. All of that and at a reasonable price means I will be back, and recommend to others as well!

3.5 Great(huge) dog-friendly outdoor dining area. Service was so-so but all the food was good. Don’t think I’d make it a point to come eat here again especially since Carlsbad is out of the way, but it was good in a pinch.

Hands down best sweet potato fries. The sriracha chili aioli that comes on the side is the bomb! When my co-workers say they want to go out after work I secretly hope that they choose this place. A bonus is that this restuarant is gluten friendly. They have indicated on the menu which items are gluten free. They also have a couple of gluten free ciders to choose from, the pear cider is my fav! There is indoor and outdoor seating. We usually come with a fairly large group of people and have never had to wait for a table. The service has always been great! There is a large selection of craft beers and cocktails. My co-workers usually get pitchers to share(while I’m the lone one drinking cider). Seriously, come try the sweet potato fries here, you haven’t lived until you do.
