Excellent collection of minerals. Bob was very friendly and helpful. The sign is a little hard to spot but if you want to spend a little time admiring some great mineral specimens and purchase a few for your collection definitely spot by here and check it out.

Bob is so amazing to talk to he is so knowledgable and precise about his collection. We literally spent 2 hours in here getting information and history on nearly each mineral in here. Bob was so patient, and actually more excited about answering any questions. Just about every piece in here is under $ 100… On average they are $ 25-$ 59. Which is pretty amazing per our past experiences, especially for the quality and rarity of what he carries here! We were thoroughly impressed, and look forward to coming back already! But until then … :) we couldn’t leave empty handed. We got this AMAZINGLY sparkly, smokey Quartz that I couldn’t get my eyes off of, and a gorgeous, green Apatite that my wife fell in love with. Thank you Bob! Ps. How cute is that packaging?

The best jewelry store in Carlsbad. Gems and minerals but so much more like Tahitian Pearls and custom pieces. Bob the owner is so informative and offers great customer service with a smile. I could spend hours talking to him. Visit this jewelry shop! You won’t be disappointed.

Never, in my entire life, did I ever expect that I wouldn’t mind shopping for jewelry. It’s simple, more often than not – unless you’re some sort of licensed expert – if you’re a dude you’re going to stand there, mouth agape and slur something like, «uhhhh, yeah. That one’s purdy. I’ll get that one.» Bob is fully aware of this and takes that into consideration. He takes the time to educate the shopper on the different stones he has available, thus making you feel more comfortable(and confident?) about your purchase. His stock is always changing. He’s nearly always got some killer antique rings in and a ton of gorgeous precious stones and gems. His prices are super reasonable, which is why I always make a point of stopping in when I need to pick up a gift. My wife and I have been coming here for the past four + years. If you need a bit of cash in your pocket, he also buys gold and will take the time to make sure you’re getting exactly what you should be for what you bring in. Frankly, I can’t say enough great things about Bob and his shop. So, gents, if you’re on the hunt for a bit of bling for your lady, or you’re a rock hound and like adding to your collection, drop in to Carlsbad Gem and Mineral. It’ll be a worthwhile trip.

first thing… the name of this business is CARLSBADGEMANDMINERAL. not CARLSDAB. Maybe some Unilocalers can fix this. If you want to sell gold or silver in Carlsbad Village, this should be your first stop. Bob is professional, courteous, honest, informative and patient. I went in to sell a piece of gold jewelry. I tried Mulloy’s first. Big waste of time. They didn’t even know how to test the carat value or weight. They told me to try Somewhere in Time. I didn’t trust their recommendation. I went in to Carlsbad Gem and Mineral and was treated fairly and with integrity. I also visited Famulare’s and was given an extremely low ball price. My advice: try Carlsbad Gem and Mineral and also consider them for gifts and unique gems and minerals. Very nice shop.

Bob is knowledgeable and patient. He helped me with my engagement ring. He wasn’t motivated by a big sale, he just wanted to help me find the perfect ring for me! He has unique and beautiful pieces. Everyone I have brought into the store ends up leaving with a treasure!

Of all the jewelry stores in Carlsbad Village, this one is by far the coolest. If you are at all interested in gemology and design– this is the place to go. They have pieces in silver and gold with stones like rutilated quartz, labradorite, and amazonite as well as the ones everyone already knows about(amethyst, diamond, etc.). When I was there I met the owner and he was very nice and informative. He didn’t hesitate at all when I asked to try something on– even though I admitted ahead of time that it would probably be out of my budget. This was a huge difference from some of the other shops. I will definitely be saving up for a special treat for myself from here because the styles were so much better than that generic stuff you see in chain stores. There are also loose stones that you can purchase(cut or raw chunks) for jewelry making or display.
