When you don’t have time to stop and dine, you call a nice restaurant and get takeout and go and get it. You expect the restaurant to have everything together especially when you ask the gentleman are you sure everything is in here and he is absolutely sure it is. I had a really good dish called New Orleans shrimp, which was a dinner and came with rice which you need 2 offset the New Orleans style shrimp which would be kind of spicy. Well when we get home there’s no rice and the toast that came with the shrimp was a teeny teeny piece of cold garlic bread. I called immediately and spoke to a manager who felt really bad about it and offered to send me a gift card with her card and to ask for her with the next time I come in that… It was very nice and I hope that in the future we can get everything we paid for.

Fortunately for us, King’s is in our neighborhood. Our seating is always prompt, and the service is excellent. I love the scallops; my husband enjoys the trout. Beware the Key Lime Pie: it is amazingly brilliant, very sharp, tangy, and filling. If your fish dish is disappointing in any way, it is promptly corrected to your liking. Large dining space with pleasant seating indoors and patio dining. Excellent parking all around the building.

I’m going to do this review a little different in the sense that I am gong to break it down by category. — 4 stars: Service. Seated promptly and politely. Had a server come to the table in short time and take drink order. Friendly and capable. Came by often enough to be assistance but not too much to be an interruption. — 2 stars: Appetizer. I absolutely love shrimp cocktail. What better place to get shrimp cocktail than a seafood restaurant, right? At this place you order them by the piece at the rate of $ 2 each. For that price you would expect huge succulent shrimp. Well, they fall short of that. Kind of puny and small, average at best shrimp. 5 pieces…$ 10. Ouch. — 3 stars: Entre’ Food. Not that good really, Kind of bland and varying temperatures on the same plate. Meaning, potato side dish was too hot to eat, the spinach side dish was just right, and the fish(of all things) was room temperature at best. My wife had the same situation with her dinner. — 2 stars: Price. Rating price is always hard because is based on the other factors. In this case, although the service was good, the meal just fell flat. If they did a better job of serving properly prepared flavorful meals and considered value a little more, the overall rating would go up. They have the service thing nailed down. They just need to work on the food a little bit. Until then, as much as I don’t want to do it, its got to be a 2 overall. As always your experience might be different.

If I were more of a lobster roll aficianado, I might have put 5 stars. However, my experience with lobster rolls is limited, so I went with 4 stars. Please note, though, that this was far and away the best lobster roll I have ever had. IMHO… this is what a lobster roll should be like. The lobster was moist and plentiful. At first, I thought the lobster was just sprinkled on top of the roll, but it was stuffed inside the roll as well. I think what I liked most was the roll itself. Frequently, lobster rolls are served on a sizable piece of what amounts to a large slice of bread that gets folded in half. This roll is like a small loaf of bread, with a slit down the middle that creates a cozy little ‘pocket’ for that yummy lobster. I asked for drawn butter, and our server Alex(that’s a she-Alex) gave me some butter in a little glass dish. Half the butter got poured onto the roll, and I used the rest to dip the roll into as I was savoring. This lobster roll experience was so totally enjoyable, rewarding, fulfilling, and on top of that, it gave me a seriously wonderful warm fuzzy by the time I was done. If you are ever in the Carlsbad/Carlsbad Village area(Kings is in Carlsbad Village), you must go there, particularly if you are jonesing for a lobster roll. Have one! They have a great menu… surf, turf, and plenty to choose from even if you don’t eat critters. :o) Tim San Antonio, TX

Price is too high for the portion size. Thought this was disappointing, with all the great reviews. I did like the king crab cakes they were very good.

The food came out extraordinarily slow for a lunch! We waited about thirty minutes after ordering for food which made for a long lunch break. The service was good and the portions were large. Don’t come if you’re in a rush! The food ended up being pretty bland if you’re eating gluten free. I had grilled shrimp with butter and garlic, no seasonings. The asparagus and the carrots were my side. The carrots needed more flavor(they were supposed to be orange glazed, they didn’t taste at all orange glazed). At least I wasn’t stuck eating a salad so that was a plus.

Lunch on a Tuesday afternoon on the covered patio with a client. The sun was shining and the breeze was slight so it was perfect for outside dining. Our service was provided by Ginger and she was excellent in providing the right amount of service and interruption. We never had an empty glass during lunch and the recommendations for food were perfect. I had the crab louie salad with dressing on the side. The portion was AMAZINGLY large and fresh. I loved the chunks of carrot and cucumber and the crisp lettuce under a generous portion of crab. My client had sauteed softshell crab with coucous and vegetables. She loved the crab too. The hot bread was good as well.

4⁄5 Had a fine meal here last night, bar area was a comfortable seat. Had expected it to be less comfortable but I got instantly comfortable after a few minutes. I liked the bartender he’s quite friendly on new comers like us. The casual dining area makes me feel a lot like home. Everything is seems to be place just so you could be like at home or something. Bar fries and Bar burger were yummy. Will recommend.

Came here for Mothers Day dinner and was seated immediately in the lounge/bar area. They were suuuuuper busy so obviously the service was really slow and it took longer to get things but I’m not going to ding them on stars because I went there on a holiday. Overall, the food was okay, but I’m not a huge seafood person but my husband really enjoyed his Nawlins BBQ shrimp. We ordered the combo appetizer platter and the calamari was great and so was the popcorn shrimp but the shrimp taquitos and crab cakes were meh. I had the Idaho trout with lemon butter and almonds and that was good but the garlic mash potatoes was deeeelicious! The buffalo wings were not spicy at all, almost tasted like teriyaki wings. Definitely a nice place to come to if you are looking for some fresh seafood and something fancy to show off. I don’t think the prices match the quality of the food but I’m sure I’ll be back but probably during happy hour times. Service was good, they made up for giving me a little more calamari since my appetizers and entrees arrived at the same time.

King’s Fish House is a great seafood restaurant but order appetizers cause the serving sizes are not huge. I ordered the shrimp scallop combo and got 4 med shrimp and three scallops. A tiny house salad and small tin of fries were my two sides for $ 20. Don’t expect large servings as this restaurant serves great quality fresh seafood in small amounts.

I came here on a Thursday around 3pm. It was pretty empty. The service was great and the food was fresh! It is a bit pricey, but hey, it’s seafood! The ambiance of the restaurant fits them. I had a great experience. I gave 4⁄5 stars because I think they should mention on the menu how their side of sweet corn is served. I imagined it would’ve been kernels or a cob, but it was like they sliced the kernels off the cob. Interesting choice to serve it this way. It was visually appealing and still tasted good! The only thing I didn’t like was since it was sliced, it had rough/tough pieces of cob sliced into the mix of sliced kernels so I was picking these pieces from my mouth as I ate.

This location deserves an update. Came here for lunch yesterday and really loved the service. We went with salads this time, the steak cobb for my husband and the southwest for myself, chicken tenders kids meal for my son. Kids meal was a bit lacking, tasty but small, really only for small children and a bit pricey. The salads were very good, fresh ingredients, my husbands however about twice the size of mine so a much better value. Food did take awhile, about 20 minutes which is a bit long, but we got to enjoy their amazing sourdough while waiting, also the butter here is great. The service and care is really what makes this place, love coming somewhere where you are well taken care of.

Food is 4 stars. Definitely great meal and what keeps us coming back. What hurts this place and brings down their rating is the service. Very slow service times, they don’t refill drinks, they don’t clear plates. First time waitress was slow and never came back but twice, second time waiter was rude, slow and never came back to refill drinks. Don’t expect great service cause their service is terrible but definitely go for the fresh fish!

One of my favorite place for raw oysters and am spoilt with a menu filled with seafood! Make things difficult(in a good way of course) for seafood lover(referring myself) to decide what to order! Everything looks good on the menu! They have a wide range of oysters to choose from! Seek my server’s help for recommendation and got exactly the kind of oysters I love. Not too big, sweet, juicy and really fresh! Ordered the Grilled Tilapia $ 15.25, it’s pretty good! The smoke taste is amazing and it’s not fishy at all. Shrimp and Scallop Combo is delicious! Shrimp is fresh and not overcooked, scallop is well-cooked and tender.

My favorite place for fresh raw oysters. They always have a wide variety. The presentation is very nice. They have fantastic fish — grilled or crusted. The sides are great. Probably my favorite is the roasted ratatouille. We usually eat in the bar section. No waiting. They have a nice patio in that section too and you can enjoy the great San Diego weather. The soups and salads are really incredible. The beet salad with goat cheese and arugula is one of our favorites, but the Danish blue cheese with the candied walnuts is pretty good too. The nice part about the menu is that with fish — it is seasonal. So the primary fish dishes changes according to what fish is in season. Nice variety. I’ve eaten here quite often and the service has always been top notch. They take good care of you and are really on top of everything you need. Makes the meal enjoyable.

The food at this place was REALLY good. Coming from MD, I had my doubts about this seafood place, since MD is known for having some of the best seafood restaurants on the planet. But this place was awesome. I had the shrimps with the Mac and cheese and asparagus. My wife had the crab cake which she enjoyed a lot. I was with group of 8 and they all agreed that it he food was excellent. The drinks were tasty as well. I had this Trinidadian rum drink which was really good, and it had a little kick to it. The staff was friendly and the place had a great mixture of indoor and outdoor seating. So why not $ 5 stars? The food was a bit pricey, but the food was good so not much of a complaint. Whenever I’m in the area I’ll definitely go back.

I’ve been to King’s several times now and was pleased when I received a dinner invitation to the Carlsbad location as I wasn’t aware this location existed. The food at King’s is fresh, flavorful and has every seafood item you could possibly imagine from sushi to sashimi to grilled dishes to salad… literally a seafood lovers dream come true! I visited this location this past Tuesday with a few employee’s from my company, we sat on the patio and we enjoyed the many delicious items that King’s offers. We started off with a few items and I will say the spicy mussels were to die for; baked to perfection with a spicy peanut taste and topped with avocado. For our mains everyone ordered a variety of items and what I noticed out of the 8 of us, was that the both the mahi mahi and the grilled salmon dishes were fantastic, grilled to perfection and fell apart when you cut into them. Everyone also raved over the glazed carrots and the other sides, 2 sides are included with each entrée. I personally had a few appetizers for my main. Whenever I see the words raw ahi tuna and avocado on any menu at any restaurant, I have a difficult time looking any further. I was set on the grilled salmon this evening as I’ve had it before but when our server mentioned their ahi tuna appetizer was one of their best dishes, I knew that would be in front of me shortly and she was definitely right! I also enjoyed the salmon carpaccio which was served with a delicious savory sauce and topped with a crispy crunch, the 2 items together made for a dinner well served! We had wonderful service, drinks and food were flowing all evening but I liked that the Manager personally came by our table to see how everything was going for the group, it’s not often that happens on a busy evening. King’s is a great spot for everyone whether you’re looking for a girls night, a date spot, a place to grab lunch during the work hours and it’s also very family friendly.

Always a decent lunch here. And this particular location isn’t nearly as busy as other King’s that I’ve been to during lunch time Monday-Friday. Can’t go wrong, and I particularly like the Salmon specials.

So this is about my 3rd or 4th time here. Though the prices can be an eye opener for some, you have to know you are getting some fresh catches. Although, I think the presentation of the platters can be more flattering. So our visit was on a hot and humid day today. They asked if outdoor was ok. I don’t think so I thought, we will wait the 20 mins that they informed us. That 20 min wait was less than 10min, whoo-hoo. I would like to plug, that the hostess was friendly. I’m going to point out immediately that our server was on top of everything and friendly. My visit was with my parents and my father tends to give everyone a hard time, our server graciously played along. You rock, Perry! We flowed in with the lunch crowd so we were kindly informed that the margarita and appetizer may be a bit of a wait. It’s better to be informed when things may be running behind rather than guessing what’s going on with your order. We didn’t have to wait too long for those two things. But, thank you Perry for warning us. My order was something light to eat since it was too hot to eat anything heavy. I had the Roasted Beets with arugala and vinegerette dressing. I did get the small serving, just a little large than the palm of my hand. My dessert, Crème Brulee of course for any of those who know me. Very delicious, the filling a little more dense than I’m used to but still good. Every bite was followed by a sip of my Espresso. I look forward to my next visit and new dish to try.
