Depending on your opinion of the Star Wars franchise, this recently added area of the Legoland park might be worth the price of admission alone. It really depends on how much you like Star Wars, and what value means to you, I suppose. For me, the highlight of Legoland is observing the intricate models and scenes created from millions of skillfully placed lego bricks. The rides are great too, but there’s only so much thrill I can get from amusements created for children. The Lego mini land areas are truly wonderful and, in my opinion, make the park worth visiting. With that in mind, you can understand why I’d recommend this park to a fellow Star Wars fan based on this area alone. The Star Wars mini land is made up of a series of large Lego renderings of famous scenes from the Star Wars films. Truthfully, this area isn’t huge, but the master builders at Lego land have done a wonderful job at fitting a wealth of iconic Star Wars moments in the space allowed. There is something like twelve wide-scale, epic scenes, as well as a series of smaller dioramas highlighting key elements and establishing units from the movies. The show stealer is definitely the giant Death Star towards the end. Most of these scenes are somewhat interactive due to light, sound, and motion which can be triggered at the push of a button. My only criticism is that there aren’t any rides or other attractions besides the excellent models. I assume it’s a licensing issue or something since Disney owns the rights to Star Wars and probably wants to keep all SW rides exclusive to Disneyland. Either way, I think it’s really cool to have anything like this at Legoland. I’m going to go ahead and give this attraction five stars, despite the lack of rides, because the models are tremendous and completely worth your time!
