Modern Eyes Optometry

Dr. Wang and his staff are great. My first time in the office was as a walk-​in client after some lingering eye twitching. Everyone was so welcoming, thorough and professional. My excellent experience at Modern Eyes made me switch to Dr. Wang as my optometrist. The icing on the cake is the convenient and super accessible office location.

Giving 5 stars is a no brainer for Modern Eyes! My 11 year old son was treated with patience and kindness as he went through the very thorough exam. He has had several optometrists and Dr. Wang is by far the most thorough and helpful. When my son put his new glasses on he literally gasped at how clear everything was. Dr. Wang got it right! His staff is amazing with the initial exam, appointments and insurance support. I absolutely, a thousand percent recommend Modern Eyes.

Amazing customer service. I came in with a prescription for my teenage soon and they helped him pick out a pair of cool Salt glasses that were ready in 1 week. When there I asked if they could help me repair the hinge on a broken pair of Gucci sunglasses. Apparently the replacement part was out of stock so they convinced Gucci to send me a new pair of sunglasses for free… and I didn’t even buy them there. You just can’t find that great level of customer service many places these days. Thank you Modern Eyes!

I just want to say thank you Dr. Howard and his amazing staff. By far the most efficient office and staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
Dr. Wang is caring, comforting and amazing. I’ve had a lot of problems finding the right lens prescription around town and his office was far superiors to any others.
So thanks again guys and will definitely be sending my friends and family your guys’ way.

I tried Modern Eyes a few weeks ago for new glasses and contact lens exam and prescription. Best new shop in the neighborhood. From start to finish I had an A+ experience. The ladies in the front office are great gals and are excellent at helping select flattering frames (they have a nice selection). Kudos to the Doc! For the first time in over ten years I can see clearly. He adjusted my prescription (from a previous doc) that I had used the last several years. I now know what it feels like to see clearly again! I cannot compliment this office enough.

Best place to get your optical needs. Agree with previous reviewers that the service at Modern Eyes La Costa is awesome! April, the front desk manager is very sweet and helpful with insurance and appointment needs. Dr. Wang is a very knowledgeable and friendly optometrist. I brought my active 5 year old son to get glasses. All the staff and Dr. Wang made the process simple and we picked out a great pair of glasses for him. Only a few short months later, my son broke the edge of the frame. I went in trying to figure out my options. Everyone at the office was great, and helped me resolve my problem. I’ve already referred several friends and will continue to!

Dr. Wang was very friendly and took time to explain everything to me in detail and answered all of my questions. My experience made me feel like they really had my best interest at heart. I felt confident when I left that I was getting the correct prescription, with a good brand that worked with my insurance. They also made sure to let me know if something wasn’t covered by my insurance. They also helped guide me through my insurance options so I could apply my insurance in the best way.

Review is for retail eyeglasses, I did not see the optometrist. Found this place as listed as a retailer of SALT brand frames, I actually ended up buying a different brand. The service was absolutely impeccable! Loved the woman who was helping me and she went out of her way to explain pricing with my VSP insurance plan. Not the biggest selection of frames but for how incredibly picky I am I was able to pick a frame same day (usually I shop around for months). I will be back when my FSA kicks in again next year!

A friend of mine referred me to Modern Eyes after having an awesome experience. I went for a contact eye exam and found Dr. Wang and his team were super friendly and helpful. Dr. Wang was very personable and spent a lot of time with me as a new patient to really understand my needs and concerns. He is definitely does not have a «one size fits all» approach that you get with many optometrists. And, on top of all of that, his office is beautiful!

I love their selection of eyewear, in addition to the fact that everyone is so friendly and nice, esp. Dr. Wang. He spent a lot of time discussing my eye problems and offering me inexpensive, even free solutions. He gave me quite a few samples of an eyedrop for dry eye. Other places I have been to offer their pricey prescription instead of giving me samples to try for over-​the-​counter solutions. Of course, trying on all the frames is always fun! They had such a huge selection that it took me a while before narrowing it down to five of my favorites, then another 40 minutes to narrow it down to two! The best part is that they didn’t try to upsell me to the most expensive pair or add-​ons that I didn’t need. Comparing their prices, they were equal to the prices of name brand eyewear in the government site my hubby uses as a DoD employee! I love this place… And the fact that it is only seven minutes from my house is a bonus!

I moved to Encinitas two years ago and still had not found an optometrist. My friends who just moved here as well referred me to Dr. Wang’s office. I have to say that the moment I walked into the office I knew that I would be finally making the change! April was so helpful in finding me the correct glasses and sunglasses for my progressives and Dr. Wang was so pleasant and professional — I really liked how he took the time to go over each test with me — the coolest thing was seeing the picture of my eye from the back with all the veins and arteries — something that I have never seen before — I highly recommend this office for those if you who want a friendly and professional experience!

I love this place! Dr. Wang and April are super nice. This place is very modern and has the most up to date technology. Dr. Wang is very knowledgeable and genuine. They have the most convenient hours, including weekends and were able to get the appointment time I wanted. I’m super glad that I found this place, and it’s so close to my work!
