Palms Day Spa

Had a great experience, the massage was killer and I really enjoyed the facial. I’ll be going back again.

By way of background, I live in Ramona, which is almost an hour from everywhere else. Living so far away, and gas prices being what they are, I am very likely to cancel an appointment if something else more pressing comes up (like washing the cat…). Something else came up, and I canceled my massage appointment.
Twice.
They were good sports about it, though.
Kevin was my masseuse; he was very professional and his technique was very skillful (it was a Swedish massage). I had to wonder, though, if he had read that sheet I was required to spend 10 minutes filling out prior to the massage, or, alternately, if he had understood what I verbally reiterated to him while on the table:
I Broke My Back several years ago (!) I warned him to avoid the area – it’s a ‘bit’ sensitive. But he did not avoid it. This could have been a serious mistake if it had been a recent inury… and I guess that explains why I didn’t let anyone touch my back for 10 years… But why did I have to fill out the medical history sheet if no one was going to read it?
As expected, Kevin had to cut my massage short, because I was late, (remember…Ramona) but what he did was very good… I definitely did NOT feel violated or uncomfortable in any way.
All in all, a very nice massage in a peaceful, relaxing environment. The staff was very nice and accommodating.

I will NEVER go back! This was the WORST massage I have ever received, and I have had many! I had a male masseuse who made me feel very uncomfortable. I had to ask him twice to watch where his hands were going, I felt very violated. I felt more stress after this massage than before. I regret not walking out during the massage!

No. I will not go here again.
A good friend bought me a gift certificate for my bridal shower. That was about 2 years ago and I discovered the certificate just recently.
I booked a package appointment for a massage, hand/​foot treatment and facial.
When I arrived and showed the owner my certificate. She told me that she could not honor it because it was too old. I had to remind her of the state law that requires businesses to honor any gift certificate no matter how old it is.
She reluctantly agreed and that was the bad start to my afternoon here.
The massage therapist was very frustrated with the owner because she was overbooked and they had an argument at the front desk about me. Things were getting worse.
While the therapist did her best to give me a good massage, the room was very cold (which she acknowledged) and she would leave the room for 5−10min at a time to deal with the overbooking situation. I think in a different spa, she could be a very good massage therapist. She just doesn’t have the tools here that she needs.
After my massage, the owner came in abruptly as I sat naked under a sheet, waiting for my facial, and told me that I was only supposed to get a half hour massage, not an hour. She now had no time to give me a facial and that I would just have to accept the extra half hour massage as full services rendered. They were closing in 20min and wanted me out of there. How was any of this my fault? But at this point, I didn’t want her anywhere near my face.
Next, a man came in, did not introduce himself and started the hand/​foot treatment (I think this is the «Thai» massage) I HATED it! Very painful and rough. I was freezing at this point, very uncomfortable as I was still naked and he was moving me around with no concern over modesty. I’m sure he got a few looks at my ass (if not more!).
I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Terrible service and no concern over the customer’s comfort.

I visited this spa just because I was curious about what THAI massage feel like. I went there a little bit late for my appt. (I am always late for everything = I am Asian, sorry… Asian). The receptionist is really friendly.
I like the décor. Smell from incense or whatever stuff they use is so good. I felt very relaxing. In stead of having THAI massage, I had foot massage with Kevin due to my late appt., and my mother had THAI massage with a young lady (sorry I forgot her name though). I love to have massage treatment but I cannot afford it for every week or every other week. I love to come back this spa more and more to try their other services because they have many such as Galvanic Anti-​Aging Treatment facial, Epicuren Deep Cleansing Acne Facial, Fat Reduction Treatment called Sudatonic Treatment, and Synergie™, the Cellulite Solution, etc. Oh, they also have Early Bird Facial deal which I prefer. Okay… so I haven’t had a massage since my former spa closed (Vista Day Spa… see my review). That’s been quite a while ago… lol. I had mentioned that just in conversation with the girl over at Daniel’s (again…see my review) who does my pedicures.
Well she told me that a friend of hers worked at the Palm Day Spa off of El Camino Real in Carlsbad and gave me their number. I’ve been feeling really tight and knotted recently and thought…“what the hell”, it’s time for another massage anyway. My wife made the appointment for me and she relayed a pleasant experience over the phone when she called. I was able to get a next day appointment with Kevin for a one hour deep tissue massage.
I arrived right on time and was cheerfully greeted by the receptionist. The overall atmosphere of the spa was relaxing. The reception/​waiting room was decorated with a small wicker table with a couple wicker chairs and a couch. They also had what looked like a lounge chair and two massage chairs available (if ya only have time for a quickie… I guess… lol).
After taking a few minutes to fill out a brief questionnaire, Kevin showed me to my massage room. The room was simply decorated with a couple small tables besides the massage bed and a stool. Lighting was relaxingly low and they even had a couple candles. I don’t know what the other rooms looked like, but my room even had a small stand-​up shower available.
Now…I stand about five foot six, and pack on about two fifty. Kevin is a small slim Asian gentleman who weighs maybe one forty — one fifty soaking wet. The man knows his stuff though, and he literally put all of his body weight into kneading out all the kinks in my entire knotted body. There was definitely a breath taking moment or two accompanied by a wince or so, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Kevin was totally professional and continually aware of my comfort level. After all was said and done, after totally being twisted and tweaked, I felt pretty awesome.
So…needless to say, I will definitely be giving this place another try. I can definitely see this place getting a fifth star if service remains as great as it was today. Thank you!
