SD Magazine’s Best of North County Party

Popped a Molly then I popped my SD Mag’s Best of cherry. JK about that first part.
Last time i was here was for a wedding and as great as that was the decorations for this really amplified the already beautiful resort.
I heard a few people ask if the grass was fake, no it is not, it’s just that manicured after all this is a golf resort.
idk what the name of that apple leche dessert was, but hell yeah, an bacon cookies and seared scallops on pork belly with some lime colored vinaigrette from Burlap. Rubio’s and grilled tilapia, your known for fried fish taco’s. Do that next time. Every booth needed more napkins and trash cans. People were putting trash on everything, but the staff quickly cleaned up once they realized the severity of their downfalls.
Energy brought out a good DJ who had it popping, but dancing in grass in heels i saw quite a few women go down. I saw it because i was in line for the Stella booth for some 30 minutes only to find out they ran through their 1^st 2 kegs in 90 minutes and more was on it’s way, but unsure when. Your the only beer vendor in a celebration of local vendors yet you have no brewery here, sounds fishy to me. Actually it’s shameful, i understand it’s marketing and PR and business, but if your going to run out of beer at least make up for it with something like making the cash bar open for a bit. They restocked and went on, but it was the talk of the night for a while.
It was a great event with great local vendors like Nothing bunt cakes, Lorimar and Falkner wineries. Burlap and others.
It was pretty packed, maybe look for a bigger venue next year and the parking could have been better. They needed bigger and more photobooths, but Fotobox does great work. Cash bar was great as they had some top shelf stuff like Corzo and Belvy two of my personal faves and no wells. I’m bringing a flask next year just in case they run out of beer again next year.

This is my 2^nd year attending this event.
Last year was chaotic given that it was the inaugural event. The lines were horrendous and barely got to most of the booths. It was just too crowded…
However, this year was amazing and so much fun!!! This time we went in a group, and we took turns manning our table. We were able to get to a lot of booths of yummy food and dreamy libations. Stella was giving away chalices full of beer — it was awesome. Lines were not as bad, and the longest was maybe 5 – 10 mins.
The best food of the night goes to West (as it did last year) who gave away big honkin’ pieces of sea scallops. They’re one of my fave restaurants in North County. There were photo booths and a flip book station. I have to admit, we were camera whores.
I ended up getting a fab-​o deal for our group at $ 20pp, reg price is $ 50, which I think is absurd.
Aviara is gorgeous and I’m glad they hosted. Self park was free. Also, everyone who worked at the resort was so nice and very helpful. This is only a 5 – 10 min drive for me, so I loved the commute.
Very nicely done this year, SDM… I commend you…

Full blown VIP celebrity party. A must go if you have the chance/​opportunity. All you can eat and drink from the best of north county has to offer. Live music and performances. Living sculptures and photo booths with props. Really done right. They had shrimp the size of monkey’s fists that were so delicious. Stone brewing was there amongst other great local brewers. We will be definitely going next time… heck might even make it a tradition.

I attended the best of north county party earlier this year and LOVED It.
The location was beautiful, the décor, the entertainment (Stomp, acrobats), the hospitality: Parking attendants directing traffic, lines being directed, the great food and free goodies– all earn a four star rating.
I had the misfortune to attend San Diego’s best party and it was such a disappointment when compared to North county.
