Hampton Inn At the Meadowlands

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel. It is very convenient to the Meadowlands complex and other areas that we visit, including NYC. I must say that the entrance ramp is a little confusing. We missed the exit on both visits. Most likely our confusing GPS.
Most Hamptons have he standard breakfast fare. This hotel has fabulous NJ bagels and fresh donuts. They also offer Danish pastries throughout the day, along with the endless coffee.
The lobby has been updated. The rooms have not. However, our room was clean and comfortable. On this trip we also took advantage of a local restaurant that offered delivery to our room. The excellent meal arrived in 15 minutes.

The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice lots of fruit, Danishes, milk juice hot waffles and cereal. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They have a small snack store next to the front desk with drinks snacks candy and some beer and wine.

Stayed here while visiting for the Jets game. Not overly hard to get to but as others alluded to, it can be tricky for turns. You have to use the ‘u-​turn and turning’ exits to get in and out if you are on the wrong side of the highway.
Hotel is very clean and modern looking. Check-​in was a breeze despite it being full due to the band competition at the stadium. Each staff member we encountered was extremely friendly, polite and willing to answer questions. They get 5 stars for sure. The hotel serves complimentary breakfast too. The breakfast is your typical buffet style, eggs, ham, bacon, cereal, waffles, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt. The food was fine. They also offer complimentary coffee and snacks in the lobby. The snacks vary depending on time of day.
Our room was very clean, including the bathroom. Plenty of room in our room even with two queen size beds. The remote for the TV was not working, called down and within 5 minutes we had a new one. Very prompt!
The hotel is literally a stones throw to the stadium parking lots, however, there is no walkway to the stadium. You can walk, but you will be walking on the 4 lane divided highway and there are no sidewalks. The hotel offers a free shuttle to Redd’s restaurant where you can catch another shuttle to the stadium. I was leery about shuttle jumping to get to and from the game, but I must say, the total trip going took about 10 minutes and about 15 total minutes on the way back. Very impressed. I had a parking pass for the stadium, but the hotel said since I was a guest I could leave my car in the parking lot (no charge for parking). I was happy my car was still there upon return.
I would recommend staying here if you are attending any event at the stadium. The shuttle services are a very nice option too. There is no food on site, outside of breakfast, so you will need transportation to go out and eat.

Highly unrecommended!!! I would give NO stars! I had such a horrible experience here!!! I stayed at this hotel the night before and after my wedding. I had a wedding block, and chose this hotel because of the spacious suite they had and it was close enough to my church with a decent price. If I knew the headache I had to deal with during this process I would have ran far away from this hotel. The sales director Melody does not know how to return messages or phone calls, she is extremely unprofessional and rude. She had no interest at all in her job. I would spell names out letter by letter in perfect English and the names were still misspelled and nothing like what I said. I lost track of the amount of times I called, left messages and emailed her with no response. The room assignments were done improperly and people ended up not having rooms. There was absolutely NO reason that there would not be any rooms in the whole hotel after I blocked enough rooms 9 months in advance!!! They blamed me the night before my wedding for canceling rooms of which I had nothing to do with and of course did not do! Such an awful experience to have to deal with for my wedding. As for the hotel itself, it is small, the complimentary breakfast is sad, with barely any choices. Extremely horrible service. Stay far away!!! It’s not worth it!!!

July 16 – 19, 2015 — Our stay included 2 adults and 1 teenager for a weekend trip to NYC.
Positives: the hotel is relatively easy to get to (be prepared for weird NJ driving rules like no left turns — there’s a ‘ramp’ to the right to cross the intersection to enter the hotel). The staff is VERY friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good — typical Hampton fare. FREE PARKING. Nice rooms. Bus stop at the hotel for a relatively quick ride into NYC. (see below)
Wish it had: a pool and hot tub. More amenities nearby — you have to brave traffic on Route 17 to get to anything and it’s a divided highway which is tricky to navigate. (There are no restaurants within walking distance. But looked like a mall was under construction so that may change soon.)
METRO BUS
I had trouble finding info online before our trip re: riding the bus to NYC. Here’s what you do:
1) Stop at the front desk and ask for the bus schedule info. There is a weekday schedule and a Saturday one. (Not sure if Sunday is separate.)
2) The bus stop is right across the street from the hotel entrance. Give yourself a few minutes to walk over but it’s *right* *there* (the drop-​off for the return uses the shoulder of Route 120 so you’re on the hotel side)
3) The weekday morning buses are pretty full with workers and may be standing room only as this is one of the very last stops. Buses come every 5 – 7 minutes so you won’t wait too long for the next opportunity.
4) Buy a round trip ticket when you get on. It was $ 8.50/person and worth the ease of getting back on quickly for the return trip. The driver can break $ 20 bills but will appreciate if you have smaller bills closer to your total fare.
5) To get back, the hotel info sheet will tell you which gate you need in the Port Authority bus station (it was Gate 224 when we were there) and the bus number (163 Local). At the gate, GO ALL THE WAY TO THE END. The signs are confusing but the door at the end is the one you need and there can be 3 separate lines in the hall.
6) Tell the driver your stop is the Hampton Inn at the Meadowlands.
7) SIT IN THE FRONT. The hotel is the first stop.
The bus may seem like a hassle but it is very much worth it. Parking in NYC costs $$$$$$$ and driving there looks like an act of insanity.
Overall, we came to see the city and this hotel was a convenient option that gave us what we needed at a good price. A pool would’ve helped with the tired legs after a long day of walking. But we’d stay here again.

I stayed here for one night in November. My daughter and I were going to the Meadowlands for a Giants game & I wanted a hotel that would be convenient. I had no problem checking in early (11am) so I had plenty of time to make the 1pm kick-​off. The hotel provides a free shuttle to and from the game (which is shared with a local restaurant/​bar). Upon return from the game there was fresh pastries, coffee, and hot chocolate available in the lobby. The breakfast was great in the morning and it was a short, convenient trip (courtesy of Über) back to the Newark airport Monday morning. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re flying in from out of town and you need a place to stay for an event at Metlife Stadium.

I’m giving this hotel 5 stars. My 4 buddies and I drove down from NH for the Cowboys/​Giants game on Sunday night so we stayed here from Saturday-​Monday and where do I begin?! They let us check in early with no trouble at all. They have free wifi, free breakfast in the morning from 6 – 10! There is a bus stop literally right in front of the hotel that busses you to Port Authority in Times Square and its $ 8.50 round trip! The stadium, you can see from the hotel! They also had a shuttle run on game night so we didn’t even have to drive to the stadium! Loved this hotel!

Great hotel! stayed in the presidental suites for our wedding on 11÷15÷14! Recommand!

This is a terrific hotel. Convenient location — we stayed here and travelled into NYC through Lincoln Tunnel. An easy 20 minute drive. Staff was outstanding — had our room ready to go including roll away bed all made up. Hotel is clean and looks brand new. Free breakfast was delicious — almost gourmet! Everything you could want in a hotel.

During our stay in NJ we’ve been to two Hampton Inn, and this one was clearly the better one. It’s very clean and the staff was always friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was much better than in the other Hampton Inn we’ve been to.
You’ve got a good traffic connection from the hotel to NYC. The bus stop is right in front of the building. It takes 15 – 20 min. to NYC and costs about $ 4.50 one way.
There’re no shops, supermarkets etc next to the hotel, but you can buy some food next to the reception or ask the staff if they would take you to the next shop if you dont have a car.
In case we visit NJ again, we’ll choose this hotel again!

This is an excellent hotel, and I definitely prefer this one over the Holiday Inn to the west. I haven’t been to Fairfield yet though. The interior looks very modern, and seemed to be recently refurbished. It was also very clean and spotless particularly in the lobby, as well as the breakfast area.
The rooms were also spacious and the beds were comfy to my liking. However a small problem we had was that there was no fan or A/​C function (I’m from the north so anything over 5C/​41 °F is considered warm), and low cool/​high cool/​fan all produced heat. We ended up turning the whole thing off, which provided comfortable enough conditions for us.
Wifi works well if you can connect to it, but there seemed to be a limit of how many devices can use it. I was able to connect via my dad’s laptop, my phone, and my mom’s phone, but all the other devices I couldn’t even connect.
The continental breakfast has some of the best selections I’ve seen, and all of them actually taste very good. The sausages had the honey/​maple flavour, and the scrambled eggs were also very good.
Overall I took away one star for the heat/​wifi issue, but everything else about this hotel I loved.

This is the hotel you would want to stay in if you’re going to watch a game at the Metlife Stadium, it’s located directly across from the stadium. Rooms are clean, staff is helpful and friendly; and they serve a great complimentary breakfast every morning until 10am. Location is also ideal, lots to do in the area and it’s very close to NYC. Will definitely be staying there again !

The hotel is clean. The beds are comfortable.
For $ 109 with a wedding discount rate, I’d say it was somewhat expensive. Seeing as it was a Friday and there were no events at Metlife, IZOD or anything surrounding there.
The popcorn ceilings are in need of an update. The bathrooms could also use an update.
Breakfast is only until 10 a.m. on the weekend, I just wish it was until 11. or 10:30. The shuttle service was nice.

Clean hotel with really helpful and friendly staff. Lost my cell phone and the staff went above and beyond to help me find it. My tv wasn’t working so they took $ 20 off our bill which was appreciated.

Great room value. Staff is incredible. If you are going to a game at Metlife THIS is the place to stay.

My husband and I stayed here new year’s eve 2010 and were pleasantly surprised! We didn’t know what to expect for the location — near the sports facilities in NJ, but it turned out extremely convenient to NYC! We took the public transit bus into NYC on new year’s day. The bus stop is right out front of the hotel and takes you directly to the Port Authority near the theater district and Times Square in the city. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel and room was clean, the free breakfast was plentiful and the free parking near NYC couldn’t be beat! We will def stay here again — and plan to December 2011! :)

Seriously great place. Staff is amazing and very accommodating. I stayed there for a month and I didn’t want to leave! Great location to get around NY/​NJ. They have a shuttle that will take you most places. Shuttle drivers Henry and Herbierto are fantastic and really great people. I consider them my friends. Frank is the GM, and he’s a great contact as well. The front desk crew to the breakfast crew all rock. There isn’t anything these people wont do for a guest. The rooms are a comfortable size and clean. Lastly, might I add that the room rate is very affordable considering the proximity to the city!

i stay here for business a lot, very nice place for the money. tons of tourists though, and pretty slow wireless.

It’s the Hampton Inn, c’mon!
BUT, it’s the best Hampton Inn I’ve been at. The front desk people were super friendly and they made good dinner suggestions.
They have an adequate workout facility and a free breakfast, what’s not to like? The rooms are clean and have comfortable beds, the only downside is that the walls are really thin. I knew exactly when the individual next door was taking a shower, and what they were watching on television.
If you want to see the NJ Nets play basketball, the IZOD center is just down the street, as is the NY Giant Stadium. It takes about 20 minutes to get here from the Newark, NJ airport

I was expecting a kind of crappy hotel when I reserved this for American Idol auditions in 2006, I’ll admit… but I was so pleasantly surprised!
Yes, the walls are very thin, but that actually resulted in us meeting some great friends to practice singing with and hang out with! The free breakfast, though a little icky, was free and therefore much appreciated on a poor just-​graduated-​from-​college budget. The room rates were awesome and there was free Internet. Beds were exceedingly comfortable and the location was perfect for the city without all of the congestion an crazy prices.
If I’m ever going to New York again, which hopefully I will, I’ll definitely look into this hotel again. And we checked out a day earlier than expected and they refunded me, which I didn’t expect. The concierge service was superb. For a typical so-​so hotel chain, this Hampton Inn far surpassed my expectations!
