Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey

The sampler of cakes and honey where so well received. I love all three cake samples. Time for a full size fruitcake lol. The honey is very tasty. We purchased on line.

How can you not give a Trappist Abbey at least four stars? But really, the guy working the visitor center was very pleasant, and he was convinced my brother and I might be future Trappist Monks – well, until he met my wife.
Anyway, we went on a nice little romp in the woods behind the abbey. There are many many trails out there but they are not well marked. Be sure to bring a water bottle and a boy scout, because you’re bound to lose track of the trails occasionally.
Despite the poor markings, the woods around the abbey were beautiful and unspoiled (except for the section that was logged recently… but. um…nevermind). I can see myself spending many summer afternoon wandering the woods surrounding the Trappist Abbey.
I’ll be back… with GPS and a water bottle. If you visit, be sure to respect the silence, take a few minutes to talk to the guy in the visitor’s center, and enjoy God’s beautiful creation!

Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey is one of the most beautiful sites in Oregon. The property itself consists of 1,350 acres of unspoiled countryside. For the visitor the Trappist Abbey offers hiking trails, ponds, a gift shop, retreat houses, day rooms, and a church.
The Trappists derive their nickname from La Trappe, France. They are part of the Cisterican Order. The Monks as well as the volunteers are some of the nicest and most hospitable people in the world. The monks at Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey do book bindery, warehouse wine, and make fruit cake to support themselves. Their excellent book bindery and delicious fruit cakes are for sale in the gift shop.
If you would like to go on retreat Our Lady Of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey has five two bedroom retreat houses for your use. Suggested donation is $ 60 per day and it includes vegetarian meals. No phone and no TV in the rooms but lots of peace and beauty. You can also rent a room for a day. Suggested donation is $ 20 and it also includes meals.
The church at Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey is one of the most gorgeous churches in the world. A large window opens up to the beautiful countryside. Listening to the monks chant while the sun sets over the Carlton countryside will make a believer out of anyone. Can’t guarantee what you’ll believe but believe me you’ll believe!
As I was driving away from Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey a guy drove up behind me and began giving me the finger for not driving fast enough. Wanted to turn around and go back to the Abbey. It’s nice to know that there’s an island of peace and fellowship in a world that can be so mean.

On a recent wine tour trip, we came across the Trappist Abbey and just had to stop. The scenery is really beautiful and made it a trip worth taking. They also have a decent bookstore that provides some interesting titles. Overall, it was a nice stop on our tour of the Valley.
