As of March 27, 2012, the Filling Station is under new ownership.(Previous owners have left for international adventures!) Some light remodeling, and an emphasis on baked goods are new touches. Gone is the write-down-your-sandwich-order system which made sense to me as an engineer, but yes, was too unusual for many. Great sandwiches(the«Hwy 47» is still featured!), very friendly service, and small-town feel all remain. Still a high recommendation for casual lunch in the wine country!

This is one of the best places you could ever get a sandwich. It is owned by two of the nicest and coolest people ever and is located in an old gas station. The sandwiches are extremely creative and amazing. They have both incredible breakfast sandwiches and scrumptious lunch ones as well. Not to mention their wine and beer selection. If you are driving through or doing wine tasting, this is a must stop!

We tried this restaurant on the recommendation of others and were not disappointed! As the name implies, the deli is located in an old petrol station with a mixture of seats inside and out. Large plate glass windows provide plenty of light, and the staff is rather friendly and helpful. I had a lovely brie and chutney sandwich(warm), and my wife had some sort of southwestern themed sandwhich which was quite good. My father, also present, was quite contented with his reuben. Drinks varied, and I recommend you try the Fire Mountain beer on tap. It’s a small carlton nanobrewery that produces one lovely IPA. All in all a great place to stop for lunch, whether light or not so light!

The Filling Station represents wholesome goodness. Like that feeling you get when you eat chicken noodle soup, Or when you’re walking your dog on a quiet Sunday morning. That feeling you get when you feel the sun on your neck, and a cool breeze across your shoulders. [Now add in small town] You’re greeted by name with a friendly hello, then asked how your mom is, how your brother is doing in his advanced math class, and how did the dentist appointment go? I love this — small towns, it’s like one giant family =) The Filling Station is no exception! It’s a cute, quaint café where guests can be seen sitting in front of it’s many widows enjoying a glass of wine and reading the newspaper. It dotes an excellent selection of gourmet sandwiches ranging from the Hwy 47 to the classic BLT; or you can just build your own! Choices range from from avocado to pepperoncini, marbled rye to sourdough, cranberry sauce to cracked mustard — you’ll find a sandwich suitable for you =) Half for $ 3.00 and a whole for $ 6.00. Make sure to grab a discount card, ten sandwiches = 1 free! If you feel like donating your punch, you can find my card in the «C» section, under«Courteezie.»
