I absolutely loved this place. The décor is awesome and very homey. The food was great. I had the pulled pork sandwich one day and the tri-tip lunch the next day. It was great! Lots of food for the price. Not only that, but the service was great! Nicest people ever!

What a friendly comfy place! Blake, the guy at the counter, was super nice and the food was great! The chicken curry sandwich is not to be missed. Or the brownies. Everything is made by hand and good prices.

The food here is really, really good. We had a sandwich of bbq tri-tip on garlic bread and a chocolate milkshake, and it was just wonderfully moist and flavorful. The desserts in the case also looked yummy, but the sandwich was enough to fill us up. Definitely worth stepping off the beaten path to try if you’re in the area.

Stopped in for directions. Left with a bag full of peanuts custom made. True customer service with no hype. Reminded me of my southern days in Alabama when folks were just folks.

Don’t waste your time. These pictures are deceiving. This place is just hanging on by its fingernails. As a local, I have eaten here once and that is all I needed. The hippies congregate here for«fund raising» concerts to keep the place afloat. The owner is nice, but a total space cadet.

As mentioned by other reviewers, we came across the sign for Rosie’s store while driving past Carmel Valley Village on the main road. We had no plans for dinner but we were curious to check out the advertised«9 $ for BBQ chicken, spinach salad, potato salad, and steak» on the road sign. We were greeted by the owner which is a really nice lady. She served us two big plates of food and a huge portion of strawberry cake, which tasted amazingly good. The food tasted like home, the vegetables that were used are locally grown, and the cake was made by her friend. How better can it get? We ended up having a great and unexpected time far away from all the other touristy destinations in the bay.

We were referred by Chock Rock tasting room and Rosies is gem. Off the beaten path its worth a look and have a freshly baked pizza, made to order. Even bought a bracelet in the consignment store. Took advantage of the Unilocal coupon deal and it was well worth it.

On a drive through the Carmel Valley, we saw the sign — my dad wanted ice cream, so we drove down to check it out. While my dad enjoyed his ice cream, my mom and I browsed through all the cool stuff. I ended up falling in love with a set of dishes, all for $ 29. Lots of cool treasures, well-priced. Super friendly owner who also made great lattes. Well worth a detour(also good for escaping the fog of Carmel itself)

Fabulous place. Incredibly friendly owner with great stuff!!! Antiques and outstanding carrot cake, coffee, local sage honey and when we were there the aroma of grilled teriyaki chicken wafted throughout the store. A visual montage of the wonderful things of yore. Park your car at Rosie’s and walk to the most beautiful entrance to Garland Park! Rosie’s is only a ¼-mile on Esquihino Road at the east end of Carmel Valley Village

We saw the sign for Rosie’s store on the main road and found our way down to it. It was worth the extra few hundred yards. Refreshing stop plus a great consignment shop. We found some Pyrex baking pans that are going home with us.

Very cute place! My mom and I noticed it driving by on St Patrick’s day and stopped in for some tea and snacks. They have some really cool antiques, there’s a lot to look at in a small place. Everyone was super nice. They were going to have bagpipers, we wished we had time to stay. I love great local places like this, one of a kind!

Great place for breakfast/brunch/coffee. Stopped by for a good coffee after seeing this place on a side street in Carmel Valley. Delicious espresso coffees, breakfast burrito, toasted bagel. Such friendly people running this place. Also had the carrot cake as recommended by others and confirm it is delicious. So look out for the signs off the main road through Carmel Valley for Rosie’s and go and eat!

What a delightful spot! Perfect for a tasty sandwich and shake, to sit outside and enjoy the trees and sun. Also extremely friendly service and very inviting gift shop. We loved the chicken curry salad sandwich, excellent iced latté and vanilla shake. Dog friendly, too. Probably the only low priced café with a nice atmosphere in the village. Be sure to check it out when in Carmel Valley!

Is this really the first review? Hard to believe. Rosie’s has been here since the 1920’s. It is really an historical building at this time because it is in transition and who knows what it will morph into. In the ’20’s the Robles del Rio subdivision, located across the river and up the hills across from Carmel Valley Village, was opened. It was the first subdivision in Carmel Valley, a place that was totally rural with working farms and orchards and very few houses. In those days, the road to the village, from Carmel, was very rough and narrow, winding its way around every gully and certainly was no joy to drive. Needless to say, most housewives were not thrilled about the idea of driving to town to get groceries, much less the odd quart of milk. So, Rosie’s was built and opened as a grocery store, gas station, auto repair and social center with a bar in the back that might not have been totally legal, but in those days… Anyway, the idea was that people would buy lots there if they had a nearby store, gas station, et. When I moved to Robles, Rosie was still alive and working. He was pretty, uh, rosy in complexion and almost totally blind. You had to tell him how much money you were giving him. It was an innocent place and time. There was a dark smoky bar in the back. Rosie, a burly star baseball player, died and the building was used as a plumbing shop and later became vacant. Then, one Saturday night a drunk in a Toyota pickup truck missed the turn and drove clear through the store, and back out the other side. He was caught days later. The store was shored and boarded up. In time, the developer who bought the abandoned Robles del Rio Lodge up the hill, once a hangout for the rich and famous, also got Rosies and began to restore it. The old gas station building was turned into a local grocery store and the main old store was used for wine and bear tasting, non-amplified music, old movies and there were plans to expand this all into a profitable place once again. Some neighbors objected to this, fearing noise and traffic and raised technicalities about the wine tasting. The whole permit process was sent back to the county for review and at this time there has been no ruling. The main building has been worked on, a small crew there every day. It looks better than ever. They even got some restored nonoperative old gas pumps. The place looks very original and very nice. Supposedly the bar is being rebuilt and it seems they are banking on a favorable permit process to continue the wine tasting and such. Rosies will live on, hopefully as both a useful and historical place. I don’t think it will ever be the social center it once was, and making it into a hopping musical entertainment venue is just going to be fought by the neighbors. It shouldn’t be too long before we know what is permitted there and what happens then. I’ll be sure to write a follow-up review and hopefully others will as well.
