Big Sur’s Mud Run

This was a great event put on by Big Sur Marathon. The mud pits where freezing! And the walls were taller than I expected. Will do it again next year!

I’m not sure why they call it the Big Sur Mud Run seeing as its not located anywhere near Big Sur but instead it’s located at CSU Monterey Bay campus. Maybe it’s a way to get more people involved? Plenty of organized (and free!) parking. It’s your typical «mud» run and a pretty fun event if you enter as a team. Mud pits are sadly baby size by comparison to other über popular «tough mud”/obstacle events, but the course itself is gentle enough for beginners yet varied enough for those looking to push themselves with varied terrain. Plus nice weather and region if you care to explore what Monterey Bay has to offer post race. Results are posted online as soon as you finish, for those looking to brag. Free cold showers available post race or hot private showers for $ 20. Good quality technical tshirt (men’s fit only, sorry ladies) for those who complete the course.
