There should be a place like this in every town, and the fact that it’s located in Carmel, CA only makes it extra stupendous.
Although tower records are long since gone, there is still a demand for music and movie shopping of the normal + novelty/in-person test out variety.
This shop is special with an extensive media collection along with the added extra of an instrument section.
They also have a good selection of actually cool and functional stuff for media production and exhibition.
As an added benefit they also carry a nifty array of random but well curated items like household goods and mucho more.

Shopped here several times years ago when located in a much larger store below Thunderbird Still fairly good selection of jazz CDs, some new at $ 10, now carries mid to low-end acoustic guitars and accessories. Decent store for eclectic music browsing when so few are left but one point off at the unwelcome frown from guy behind counter as I walked in the door. Not a way to greet customers. Won’t be back for another 10 years, if they’re still around.

Recently rediscovered this place… hadn’t visited since they left the Barnyard… Super nice people. Small selection of used vinyl, found a few gems. Good selection of new vinyl and will order anything you need. Lots of CDs, DVDs, even instruments. Well worth a visit.
