So, so sorry to see you go in the fire!!! I hope you have the opportunity to rebuild. We’re still enjoying bottles from a wonderful batch of white chocolate port in 2008. Good luck to the owners.

I love this place… what a fun idea. You can purchase wine here, but also make your own wine here. I have to admit I had no clue how one made wine at home. Turns out, you don’t…duh! Rather, GI serves as a facilitator of sorts for the wine connoisseur who wants to bottle his or her own faves from the list of retail offerings available at the store. Basically, as explained to me by Ron, you come in and taste — once you’ve made your selection(s), you combine the raw ingredients — especially the grape juices — in a sterile container. Your creation is labeled with your personal information and your new«baby» is put in the fermenting room to begin the transition from mere grape juice to adult beverage. Over the course of several weeks, the staff perform the various processes necessary to make the wine… so it’s really kind of «hands-off» for the consumer… until bottling time, that is. Apparently, when you’re ready to bottle your wine. Grape Inspirations provides everything you need to do this, including bottles, labels, corks and seals. Sounds like fun! I also note that the Web site does have wine-making kits for those who want to do the deed at home. I’m guessing, though, that there’s lots of other stuff you need to do so… like special equipment and such. I think I’ll ask about this on my next visit. Grape Inspirations also has Wine 101 classes and wine clubs.

WOW! So I definitely wasn’t expecting this place to be as good as it was! I’m from New York, where out on the east end we have rows and rows of vineyards and wineries, so I didn’t expect Indiana to even compare. I am going to make a bold statement, that I hate to admit right now… the wine here… may be… better than at home! I have a friend who works here and we tasted all of the wines(anyone can come in and try them for free!) There are white wines, red wines, and fruit wines. You can also come in and make your own wine! HOWCOOLISTHAT? OKay pretty cool if you ask me ;) If I lived closer I would definitely make my own wine. I was so impressed I ended up buying 5 bottles of wine to take home with me =x One that tastes just like honey, one that tastes like rassberries and one that tastes like green apple. MMMMGOHEREYOUWON“T REGRETIT! I never«loved» wine, but now I definitely realize there is more than just red and white wines!
