What a hidden gem in Carmel! Kawachinagano(say that ten times fast) is a Japanese style garden located just south of the Carmel City Hall. It was inspired by Carmel’s partnership with our sister city: Kawachinagano, Osaka, Japan. This isn’t a park so much as a quiet escape and tranquil refuge. Walk under a Japanese entryway and enter this garden with flowers, green space, and an expansive pond with lily pads galore. Benches are scattered around to sit and enjoy the view. There are also picnic tables and a shelter area if you want to eat your lunch there or have a picnic with pals! Parking is easy peasy since it shares a large lot w/City Hall. It also connects to the Monon Trail! Word of warning: I recommend wearing closed toes shoes because geese like to frequent the garden and tend to leave *ahem* presents around the premises. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle check out the scenery at the Japanese garden!
