What a nice surprise to find a Blue Dog gallery in Carmel. Come to find out, Rodrigue only has 3 galleries in the country, with this being the only one outside of Louisiana. Definitely a must stop if you come across it and it only takes a few minutes to peruse the whole gallery.

The ghostly Blue dog that is in most of George Rodrigue paintings and prints is a tribute to every dog owner who’s pet has passed on. I enjoy the work because it is a mixture of pop and classical art with spiritual undertones. The pieces are sometimes whimsical to down right funny. I actually won a million dollar bet because of the Blue Dog gallery. The person who lost the bet has yet to pay, but I would settle for a one of the paintings inside the gallery. The gallery is hidden away next to a park off of 7th street and is completely worth going into. Each time I’m in Carmel I enjoy walking into this gallery and deciding upon which will be my next piece.
