I went in yesterday to get my free birthday cupcake and was charged for it ! The Snotty employee said you had to come on your birthday not the day after.(I had done this in the past with no problem as we are weekly visitors.) When I told her this she walked away This is a classic case of «customer no service» at its best. Well we are no longer customers and will spend our dollars elsewhere.

I was planning a baby shower for my sister and opted for cupcakes instead of a cake, so I stopped in this Flying Cupcake to order 2.5 dozen cupcakes. The woman who assisted me with my order was helpful and showed me different add-ons that I could put on the cupcake to make them themed for a baby shower. There were just so many options of cupcakes though that I felt paralyzed by choices and ended up just going with chocolate and vanilla. Why the three stars? The sticker shock when I paid almost $ 100 for my order. When they told me it was $ 3/cupcake, that didn’t seem that bad, but whewy that adds up quickly. And I get it, this is a boutique cupcake shop. not the Walmart bakery. And I’m willing to pay more, but I expect that they’re going to be exceptional… and they weren’t. There was so. much. icing. that most people at the baby shower weren’t even eating the top half of the cupcake. I was just disappointed in general. I think Flying Cupcake is a good treat every now and then, but just wasn’t impressed by what I got for the price. The interior of this store is super cute though.

Just go. This is the original Indy cupcake joint and it’s fabulous. The downtown Carmel location is in a perfect setting, has tons of fun gift merchandise to peruse, and they really do have the most balanced cupcakes in the area. Good cake density, moisture, and flavor, with the optimum amount of quality frosting/filling. Our family favorite is the coconut, closely followed by the German chocolate. We live in Wisconsin now and still make this stop when we’re visiting. This year, my daughter inadvertently chose the vegan chocolate, which also didn’t disappoint.

I have had better cupcakes at so many other places. There was a lot of hype around the Red Velvet Elvis but that and a few other flavors were just dry cake and a lot of frosting. Would skip this place as it doesn’t seem to live up to the old reputation. In the location you’ll find a lot of kitch that doesn’t add anything positive to the atmosphere.

First off, this is such a cute place that is decorated in the shabby chic vibe. A lot of the items are for sale. They have a few dining tables and chairs to eat your cupcakes inside. I have always received friendly and quick service. I understand people have certain food allergies and the staff seem to know their stuff. They offer gluten free and vegan cupcakes as well. My favorites from here are the salted caramel, orange dreamsicle, and red velvet. The salted caramel one is rich but totally worth it! Some of the cupcakes are HUGE and all range in price from $ 3 – 3.75. All are decorated in their own cute way. The cupcakes are good but not«wow».if you’re looking for a lot of bang for your buck. Some seem a little dry at times.(I do prefer Gigi’s Cupcakes… shh. don’t tell.) However this location is basically right by me, so. There are always other customers in the shop when I visit, so that’s a good sign, and a lot are often sold out. The cupcakes come packaged in a cute pink box. Cupcakes always make one happy girl here.

I was so excited to try this cupcake shop! My daughter moved to Carmel over a year ago and I have driven by this establishment a few times, just waiting to get the chance to go in for some treats. Well, that opportunity arrived this past weekend, I needed to buy 18 cupcakes for my nephew’s birthday party — I was so excited! I bought 10 different flavors and much to my surprise/dismay they were all very, very dry. I was somewhat embarrassed since I was the person asked to bring the birthday treat! I will say that they were very cute and festive, but truly were stale tasting. I will give The Flying Cupcake one more try the next time I am in town… I usually will give a store the benefit of the doubt… but everyone agreed that they were stale and we ate them the same day as purchased…

I wasn’t impressed the first time I tried The Flying Cupcake fare. I stand corrected. It had been a really long week and my nerves needed cupcakes. I didn’t want to trek all the way to my beloved go-to cupcake joint, so I decided it was time to give The Flying Cupcake another go. My favorite cupcake is always the one that is wedding cake-esque, which means my first pick was the Here Comes the Bride. This was a delightful cupcake. Spectacular, it was not, but delightful nonetheless. The next pick was for Husband. He’s a carrot cake fan so the What’s Up Doc was a no brainer. He said it was fine, but nothing special. He asked if I picked it up at the grocery — which made me a little frowny. I wanted something a bit more special for him and was disappointed it didn’t deliver. The LemonBerry Zinger caught my eye — and I’m glad it did. I was delighted by the sweet pops of blueberry in the zingy lemon cake. Take off the icing and I think it would have been a wonderful breakfast treat. Last, but definitely not least, was the Butter Beer. This is the one that may bring me back to The Flying Cupcake! It was playful and sweet, but a little spicy, too. It really reminded me of the butterbeer at Universal Studios. Creamy and sassy, I’ll want another one of these in the future!

I really wanted to like this place. The two girls that helped me were so nice. And the place itself was really… well…nice. But when I got back to my place and tasted the cupcakes… they were just cupcakes. Nothing great about them at all. To be honest, I felt like I could have made these myself. They weren’t bad, just not as great as they look. The look like they taste incredible and they just don’t. To me they’re on par with grocery store cupcakes, just more expensive. I feel really bad saying it but it’s the truth. These are average cupcakes at best.

I’ve never been disappointed in these cupcakes. Yes, they are on the pricey side but that’s their market. There’s always a good selection available(even close to closing time, at least when I’ve visited), with new flavors rotating in. They have a Girl Scout Samoa cookie cupcake at the moment, which I regret not trying. The red velvet, cheesecake, and birthday cake flavors are great. Dense and rich, and the frosting is creamy and substantial. Some people like a lighter frosting, but not me. The Carmel location is very clean and sweetly decorated, definitely on the cutesy side, like Holly Hobby meets Anthropologie. The cupcakes refrigerate well at home, *if* you have any leftovers!

I love me some cupcakes… who doesn’t? This location keeps decent hours and has a variety of cupcakes to choose from. They offer many flavors for all to choose from. However, their cupcakes are GINORMOUS and also some of the most expensive in town to boot. I understand they are good and they probably have a very expensive lease on the storefront but HOLYCOW(haha) they are pricey on the bigger cupcakes. I like to try 2 – 4 cupcakes per visit but this ends up costing me nearly $ 20 so I try to cut down but with so many fabulous choices, I just have to know going in I’m gonna drop a Jackson. Pros — friendly, delicious, and fabulous location Cons — price! That’s really it. The only other question I have is WHY is this location so LARGE… it doesn’t have a very intimate feel to it and it feels kind of cold when you come in b/c it’s SOOOOBIG. I’m thinking… really? Do all these tables fill up at any given moment? maybe i’m missing the boat on a huge cupcake party. Who knows!

As a girl with an insatiable sweet-tooth I find myself constantly craving chocolate, cookies, cake, candy or anything edible and sweet that I can put in my mouth. However, this comes as a definite inconvenience since I am gluten free. When one of my co-workers mentioned to me that TFC had gluten free options, I was ecstatic(for lack of a better term). My first experience at TFC was good, not great. The cupcake was good– but there was a definite lack of gf options. There was only one option left in the case and it was hours away from closing time. My second experience was disappointing. My mom and I went(and I was crossing my fingers that there would be more than one) and found 2 kinds of selections of gf cupcakes. Score so far, 10⁄10. We both pick the chocolate cupcake with butter cream icing sit down and bite into our cupcakes. dry. and not just a little dry. dry like it had set out on the counter uncovered for 3 days kinda dry. After paying at least $ 3.50 for a cupcake and probably getting quality out of a gluten free box mix, I will not be a frequent customer of The Flying Cupcake. «That’s all folks» — Porky Pig

Great go-to place for my cupcake craving. Their red velvet cupcake has some delicious chocolate chips. They also make gluten free and vegan cupcakes. It’s a great place to take your lil one and enjoy some cupcakes. They have tables as chairs as well as some drinks.
