The Ginkgo Tree

I will start off by saying I love to support women owned businesses! Heather is a masseuse who works out of a room in the Ginko Tree. I have been a massage client with Heather for over a year. She is incredibly thoughtful and knowledgable. For her massages she truly listens to your body and respects your wishes. After the massage, she does a short assessment of what she found in your body and recommends specific stretches. She is thorough and thoughtful with a flexible weekend schedule, reasonable prices, and outstanding attention to detail throughout the entire process. The facial I got with her was incredible. She told me things about my skin that I didn’t know and recommended a plan for us to fix some areas, without making me feel uncomfortable. I would whole heartedly recommend Heather for massages and facials. She has the hands and a heart of gold!

This review is for the Sphynx spa inside of ginkgo tree. I found a group on for a Brazilian wax for 35 dollars and boy did I luck out. Nicky did the quickest and most painless Brazilian I’ve ever had! I was out of there in 15. If you need some waxing done, call Nicky!!!

Fantastic waxing, and yes, I’d say I’m an expert. Very fast and nearly painless. The two most important things about waxing, in my humble opinion!

Neat renovated home in downtown Carmel. My mom who was visiting from out of town saw Jenny and very much enjoyed our experience. Calm, relaxing and professional experience. All around good!

I followed my hair stylist, Britt, here from another salon. She always does a great job with my hair and really takes her time.
Having moved from a very busy and loud salon, I love how quiet this salon is. All the employees were very friendly as well. The parking is on the street and I had no problem finding a spot.
I look forward to trying other services here in the future.

I have been coming to The Ginkgo Tree for about six months. I was referred her by my sister after having several horrible experiences at other hair salons. The Ginkgo Tree was the salon I had been looking for! The stylists, Sarah, Britt and Jill, are all very laid back, approachable and knowledgeable. I get my hair done by Sarah and she totally gets my hair. She knows exactly what color I want and how I want it cut. The salon itself is warm and inviting and is located near the Carmel Arts and Design District. I know that The Ginkgo Tree also offers massage therapy and esthetics but I cannot comment on those services.
I love coming here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new salon!

I purchased a LivingSocial deal for Full highlights. It took 3 different attempts to schedule with Ellen, but I finally managed to find something that worked with her schedule. When I got there, I had to wait 20 minutes after my appointment time before I actually got in the chair. I have very long hair that tangles easily and I told her this before she started. When she took the foils out of my hair she couldn’t get it brushed out and asked me to brush it for her. I brushed some of it and gave the brush back to her, expecting her to finish brushing it out. She just started cutting, with large tangles still in my hair. Her phone kept going off while I was there and she kept telling me how she needed to get home to her kids and that she doesn’t take appointments this late, but made an exception for me because I was so hard to fit in. It was 5:30. She finished cutting (with a large tangle still at the bottom of my hair) and asked if it was ok if she didn’t dry or style it because she really needed to get home to her kids. I knew that my haircut was not going to be even, but I didn’t know what else to do, so I just left. I got home and brushed the rest of the tangles out of my hair and it was uneven all over. I tried to call the owner the next day, but she stated that Ellen was an independent contractor and she had nothing to do with her. Really? The owner of the salon has nothing to do with her employees? I told her that I wanted my money back and she again told me that it was not her problem and I had to take it up with Ellen. I called back 7 times over the next three days and finally Ellen called me back. She proceeded to tell me that it was my fault that she couldn’t brush my hair out because it was too «compromised.» I told her that I didn’t want to argue and I just wanted my money back. She first tried to tell me that I would need to contact Living Social, but I informed her that I already had, so them she regretfully agreed to send me a check. I finally got a refund a week later.

I was there this weekend for a color and cut. Brit was my stylist and even took the time to call me to let me know there was an event and offer an alternate route. Brit does a great job and is fun to talk with. She recently moved to The Ginkgo Tree. I really like the ambiance. It feels clean, fresh and relaxing. This is the best experience I have ever had at a salon!

I went here for the first time the other day. My hair dresser had worked elsewhere, but convinced me to follow her to this new place in Carmel when she switched locations. She did an amazing job with my hair the first time, so I didn’t hesitate to head to The Ginkgo Tree this time.
The inside of this building is cute and clean. Yes, cute and clean. If you know anything about the Arts and Design District of Carmel, you know that each boutique is unique and fabulous. This place is no exception. Though it’s a lot smaller than other salons in Indy, you feel a lot more important when it’s a smaller scale.
Britt was my hairdresser and I highly recommend her when you’re searching for a great stylist. I had had long hair for the longest time and was hesitant about cutting it short. I told Britt my idea and she went above and beyond on figuring out exactly what would look best. Happy customer right here!

I purchased a Groupon for a haircut and highlights back mid-​June. I called the next day and the first available appointment was not going to be until the end of August. I needed to call and switch my appointment because in the past 2 months, something came up on the date I made the original appointment. I have left 7 messages, all of which have not been returned. I understand you do not have a receptionist, a lot of salons don’t, but at least get an answering machine that works! Thanks to the Groupon promise, I was given a refund for this Groupon since I fear if they don’t have time to call back a client, they will not have time to provide quality services either. Very disappointed and will not even get a chance to try out the salon.

I have been a client of The Ginkgo Tree in Carmel for several years now. As an avid exerciser, I see Jenny primarily for Pfrimmer massages. These deep tissue massages really help to loosen my tight muscles, relieve soreness and increase my flexibility so I can continue with my regular routine of treadmill work, free weights and pilates. Jenny always asks me if I have any areas of concern before she starts the massage. She gives special attention to those areas, customizing my massage each time to those needs. I’m especially impressed with Jenny’s knowledge of anatomy and the inter connections of muscles and tissues. She has often listened to my concerns and focused on an area while explaining how certain muscles, tissues or organs could be having an affect on other areas of my body causing some of my pain and soreness. She even offers suggestions of various stretches I could use to help maintain the benefits of the massage and not have the same problems reoccur.

Great Haircut — The best I have had — Kasey was my Stylist and I highly recommend her.

I had the opportunity to try Jennifer’s Swedish massage and loved it! She exerts the right amount of pressure to work out the knots without leaving me sore the next day.
